I think it's up to the family. I grew up with maids and nannie and they were like my friends, or older sister, but I know there are families out there treat the maids pretty bad. Lol I had the same maid room at my house, and we also use it as storage.

are you a teacher? if you are they hooked you up with that apartment. my guess is no you are not. I asked because I'm strongly considering teaching in Abu Dhabi as they are heavily recruiting teachers like myself. Plus it's a tax free salaray as I'm sure you know.

All,
This apartment is quite expensive, 200,000 AED a year. I have since moved to Dubai as it is much cheaper. But the drive is pretty tough daily.
Abu Dhabi is incredibly safe as is Dubai, but Dubai has a lot more to do.
