i think the footage is from the playstation version, because the saturn version was cancelled at a very early development status. The main reason was, that capcom noticed that the saturn was a dying console. This is just a trailer that announced it for the Saturn, not an actual saturn gameplay trailer.
@SethPutnam That was not the reason. Resident Evil 2 was announced for the Sega Saturn twice, both in its early (1.5) and final representations. The early RE2 (1.5) was just cancelled on par with the also cancelled PS1 version. The final RE2 was re-announced for the Saturn in spring 1998, and was stated to be released in mid/fall 1998. Nextech was developing it (as with the first game), but then Capcom rellocated them to work on RE Code Veronica and all development in the SS RE2 port was halted.
The final product was an infinite classic, but I always thought this version looked way scarier, and the pre-rendered backgrounds looked far more polished!
@Clarensee In fact that was actually one of the reasons (as to why) it was scrapped. They felt it looked under-developed, and too much like the original. -Interestingly enough, most of these backgrounds/settings were re-used/re-drawn for the Outbreak Series. (And instilled into the Lab/Underground Subway levels in Files 1 &2).
これを発売して欲しかった。すごく楽しそう。

@stgbar そのカプコンはバイオハザード2のサターン版をリリースしなかったことは残念はい。ゲーム開発は、約40%で停止されました:(

@gillianseed It was def. scarier, no doubt about it, but I don't know about polish. I think the backs look primitive and poor, inelaborated.
