  • His utter humility shown when he breaks down in joyful tears shows what kind of character Alexei possesses- you just have to love this guy, he has a heart and soul of pure gold!

  • Congratulations for your success and for your hard work! Really beautiful skating performance!

  • i seriously can't hold my tears... this is AAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMMMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGG

  • he's the one!!

  • I think Plushenko is my favorite skater over all, but dang...this was freaking fantastic and now I understand why plushenko couldn't have beaten that. This dude deserved the gold hands down, omg. That was beautiful.

  • This is my favourite skater ever!!!!

amazing

  • Yes, I liked his Tosca program much better. Now that was worth a 6! I though this performance was a bit overrated.

  • Amazing! My only gripe is that his spins are kinda average.

  • Maybe USA has a lot of amzing athletes but, forgive, but I think Russians are still the best artists on ice :D

(I'm mexican and I can appreciate the awsomeness of others)

  • What a strong skater, how many quads did he land? Those were some high jumps.

  • god, the quality of this is AMAZING! Thank for sharing this with us!!!!!

  • AMAZING.

  • how did they already have widescreen back then?

  • @bibi24

The Japanese footage of the Olympics was made available in HD.

  • @Veste wow Japan always ahead in technology, bravo!

  • his footwork is legendary

  • Lol he's crying with emotion...! XD <3

  • I would have his baby every day :)

  • @oni0912 wow those are some great comments. I've seen some of Alexei's performances covered by American television and God are those guys awfully retarded. Also, annoying as hell rambling over the music playing. Thanks for the info

  • @Asyakry

    VIVA YAGUDIN!

  • @Asyakry

  • He is the king of figure skating !! This is the best performence in figure skating ever !!

  • OH SHUT UP COMMENTATOR WE DONT FREAKING CARE WE JUST WANT TO SEE HIM SKATE

  • Ahh exquisit men

sorry ladies but like this guy said

as long as they are here we'll have the second place

  • This was Alexei's time to skate his best, and he did. I respect Russian skaters's choices of shaking attire and costumes, but really do not understand those gloves (Michael Jackson was famous for a jewel glove, but what did this mean re: Russian skaters?). Alexei did not make any major mistake, so the gold was his. He and Plushenko were head and shoulders above all the other men in this competition, and in this entire competitive year. The bronze here was far below their mastery....

  • I like Plushenko and Weir and Lysacek but THIS is the true King of the Ice forever...

  • Wow, TAT has a giant mink coat in every color!

  • No guys seriously..he's the most complete and strong skater in history O.o

    Amazing!

  • No question who deserved won the gold this time - one of the greatest routines of all time.

  • @yngtxtopbear If you can't see and appreciate the brilliance of this program and the artistry, musicality, feeling and strength that Alexei shows in this number, then I feel sorry for you. Alexei, you are and will always be the greatest!!!

  • @yngtxtopbear and why is that so surprising? later that ear, during Worlds he got even more 6.0s for the performance of this program.

  • the replay of the triple axel is just WOW! Perfect! i hope they use it as an instructional video for other skaters

  • anyone know who the guy on the end is w/ the Canadian turtleneck on?

  • @toplay4fun2003 Nikolay Morozov

  • strong skating!

  • Yagudin is the BEST figure-skater EVER. He was and he is still the King of ice. Lesha. we do remember and love you!

  • every time I see this I cry. what a genues !!!!

  • he will always be my number 1 !!!

  • He still skate really amazing his luna 2009 performance was simply wonderful :D

  • alexei yagudin always will be the One and only. Nobody ever will be like him - ever.!

  • men's figure skating is just not the same without Yagudin. :/

  • This has been the standout performance for me in men's Olympic figure skating in the past decade. Alexei was perfect!!!

  • Nothing compares to you!

  • I can't find necessary words, to describe his performance! it is fantastic! such as he, give birth one time of 500 years

  • Thank you for posting/sharing this great quality recording. We can enjoy it even more than the other 2 existing recordings. Thanks!

  • I can't believe that was 8 years ago! I still remember it!

  • His footwork is out of this world. Love it:):)

  • I love the part at 4:26 just before the last step sequence...the way he claps his hands together and is like "Yeah, I did it" <3

  • At the end of the program, a japanese announcer said "He was certain that he won a gold medal before the last step!".

He is a beautiful , powerful and perfect skater .

  • I love Plushenko and rooted for him in 02, 06 and will do so on Tuesday, but Alexei Yagudin always had the better artistry. As much as I grudged it at the time, he deserved that gold, and his gold medal performance was better than Evgeny's in Turin. I think what Evgeny lacks is someone like Alexei who seriously challenged him. I miss Yagudin because now it seems all about the jumps.

  • I agree. I also rooted for Plushenko in 02 but after I saw this program I couldn't begrudge him the gold. He has elegance and ease that is sorely lacking in Plushenko's skating today (which is seriously technical, all about the points!)

  • Beautiful! Thanks for uploading this. At this angle (unlike NBC's) one can see Yagudin's gorgeous cascading quad-triple-double! On the NBC feed the camera was too close and you couldn't see his feed. OT but I want some of whatever Scott Hamilton was smoking at Salt Lake-to think that THIS could have been beaten by Timothy Goebel's competent athletically but artistically robotic program is laughable in the extreme. Timothy looked like a piece of stiff driftwood in between his quad jumps.

  • Baryshnikov on ICE!!

    That's how a man skates.

Not that silly girl Johnny Weir.

  • Thanks for putting these up. I love his work too!

  • Are you stupid or what???He had a surgery on his knee...

  • What do you say ?!

Alexey had very serious trauma of a hip and has been compelled to leave sports and undergo an operation. Now he skates with an artificial joint of a hip.

He does good career on TV now.

He acts in films and is the television presenter. And he skates much in different ice shows in pair and alone.

  • You should see the channel from IceGLADIAT0R.

There is a lot of video that Yagudin does now:)

  • aah alright! Thanks!

I m sorry I didnt meant to offend him (or you) in any way. I just didnt knew and thought i heard something about alcohol connected to him.

    thanks again! (:

  • and unfortunatly i dont understand a word they are saying in the videos of IceGLADIAT0R´s channel. I dont speak any russian ):

    i do know njet :D

  • Heh, I think there is not necessary to understand Russian, the main thing is can look:)))

Alexsei Yagudin is Алексей Ягудин ;)

  • @Chutkiiiii it's japanese :p

  • @Chutkiiiii He's 30 years old. He can't compete professionally any longer

  • @Starrynova I am sure he could! I mean he is great! and Plushenko is planning to come back for the next olympics at the age of 31!

  • @chutkiiiii He said he was preparing a comeback in 2007 but he decided it was too hard due to the fact he has had his whole hip replaced... this is the reason he no longer competes :(

But he was and is an amazing skater

  • aww thats really a bummer!

but he still does great shows doesnt he? hes got his gold medal! (:

    thank you!

  • @Chutkiiiii it was because of an injury you asshole not alcohol

  • @Chutkiiiii he had health problem with his hip

  • Thanks so much for posting, Alexi is inspirational. Still brings a tear to my eye when the 6.0's are announced.

  • Yagudin is perfect :-) Thank you very much for posting, video quality is great!
