Most Americans do not choose their health care plan, they are assigned the health care plan their employer chooses. It drives up medical cost, medical procedures, rations health care and adds to the deficit. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the CBO say so now.
The US constitution does not prohibit the government from doing so. Insurance is a means of paying for healthcare, which under this plan will drive down healthcare costs. It is a mandate because it has to be or insurance companies can still reject claims based on pre-existing conditions. The government has to provide healthcare because it is their responsibility and this is the manner they're providing it. Also, quote all the sources you cited from about the plan failing.

The Constitution grants Congress a limited amount of powers and provided health care (service) is not one of those in Article I, Section 8. @crack01010101 Medicare and Medicaid are two unsubstainable programs. Social Security is the third. The government takes this money, in the form of taxes, and spends it on other pork programs. The US Debt Clock shows both the Medicare/Medicaid systems in the red by $100 + trillion. The problem with ObamaCare is it does nothing that was promised. It doesn't reduce the deficit and it is going to add another 16 million into the broke Medicare/Medicaid systems creating more debt. CMS said so.

@mstraney In case you don't follow my logic, where consumption approaches 100%(many spend more than 100%) of income at middle class income levels, the effect will be largely identical to an income tax. At the top as consumption approaches 0%(it will never quite get there) of earnings the effect will be as if there were no taxes at all. That doesn't favor success, it favors those that were already successful beforehand.

Most Americans do not choose their health care plan, they are assigned the health care plan their employer chooses. The Commerse Clause doesn't give them the power either. It was passed on bribes, lies and backroom deals and now the truth is coming out. It drives up medical cost, medical procedures, rations health care and adds to the deficit. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the CBO say so now.

The US constitution does not prohibit the government from doing so. Insurance is a means of paying for healthcare, which under this plan will drive down healthcare costs. It is a mandate because it has to be or insurance companies can still reject claims based on pre-existing conditions. The government has to provide healthcare because it is their responsibility and this is the manner they're providing it. Also, quote all the sources you cited from about the plan failing.

The Constitution grants Congress a limited amount of powers and provided health care (service) is not one of those in Article I, Section 8. The Commerce Clause does not allow Congress any powers to regulate insurance (product) because insurance is not sold between the states. @ContemplateYourLife continued: The CBO and the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) put out their report finding the health care tax (it was a mandate until they went to court...remember Obama telling George Stephanoupolus the mandate wasn't a tax while laughing???). The CMS said it will cause medical costs to increase, along with insurance premiums (look at Anthem Blue Cross in California that just went up 25% last week and ObamaCare is law since April). It also adds to the deficit!

@crack01010101 Medicare and Medicaid are two unsubstainable programs. Social Security is the third. The government takes this money, in the form of taxes, and spends it on other pork programs. The US Debt Clock shows both the Medicare/Medicaid systems in the red by $100 + trillion. The problem with ObamaCare is it does nothing that was promised. It doesn't reduce the deficit and it is going to add another 16 million into the broke Medicare/Medicaid systems creating more debt. CMS said so.

This type of tax creates a circular wealth machine whereby those with wealth beforehand can invest and save and balloon their wealth(capital gains tax eliminated), while those closer to the bottom are taxed on almost all of their earnings(outside of the prebate). That disincentivizes hard work and success.

@mstraney In case you don't follow my logic, where consumption approaches 100%(many spend more than 100%) of income at middle class income levels, the effect will be largely identical to an income tax. At the top as consumption approaches 0%(it will never quite get there) of earnings the effect will be as if there were no taxes at all. That doesn't favor success, it favors those that were already successful beforehand.

soldiers take an oath to defend the constitution and the orders of the President, they dont take an oath to defend the rights of everyone in the world. you are very confused. The President is ordering them to send these terrorists to trial, so they must defend it for that reason. However, the President can change this, and in my opinion he should. The point is, US military units to not go to war to defend rights, they go to defend the constitution and the Presidents orders.

I think it goes further than the failures of both parties though. We humans are still very young and we haven't been "civilized" for much time. We have much to learn over the coming centuries and I suspect there are some bad times ahead.
It's an overused example, but we really aren't much different from say the Romans. We have skyscrapers and the internet, but we also have major cultural and mental flaws.

The GOP is not telling their constituants " this will destroy America". The constituants are telling their representatives- we don't approve! Obama promised health care negotiations would take place in the open, even be broadcast on C-SPAN. Instead it is behind closed doors. The negotiations are being done in secret and the American people want to know what they are trying to hide - especially regarding abortion coverage and how to pay for health care reform.

Barack didn't need Republicans to pass this abomination of a bill. His problem was with Democrats. He shut-out Republicans, because he thought he didn't need them. If he'd included a few Republican changes like tort reform and allowing health insurance companies to sell across state lines, the outcome may have been different.

Why wasn't single-payer on the table? that would have been far left. A public option was a compromise. The senate bill was a complete giving into the right(including Lieberman and Nelson). If he had really cut those right wingers out then we would have single payer. The Bush tax cuts were passed with < 60 votes using budget rec. It he is SO radical why not do that

That fits public roads and public education to a tee. A mobile, educated, and safe population help ensure social welfare.
As to military, in the sense that they have often been used to protect the powers that be, then it may fail the equal access test. Think WTO, G8 summit, LA riots, and Hurricane Katrina.
