I grew up there best summers on the planet, no humidity or ultra hot days and cool nights for sleeping, I prefer the size over Seattle and thier Clusterfuck traffic.
Oregon is one of the worst states for business. Unfortunately it borders one of the best states for business, Washington state. Washington has no corporate and no personal income tax and has a much more predictable regulatory environment and education is better funded. Seattle is an excellent location for your business and Clark Co., WA is wonderful for its access to Portland and PDX.
@JohnRhysMusician Why put Oregon down? There are plenty of business owners and professionals who are making a very nice living in Oregon. If you are good at what you do, one can survive just fine in Oregon.
Washington definitely has its pluses, but I would rather live in Portland over Seattle any day of the week. Portland is an incredibly easy city to love, and offers a very well balanced quality of life across the board.
@famousPhotog Then I'd suggest living and working in Vancouver, WA so you can pay less in income tax, and probably property taxes, but definitely shop in Oregon to pay no sales tax. Oregon has the most backwards idiotic tax structures in the country and it is crushing families and businesses. Oregon needs a sales tax and needs to reduce its income taxes, because it doesn't generate enough revenue to fund education. WA has better schools, lower unemployment, and less illegal immigrants.
