Very nice review, good points and well put together.I tend to reccomend the Gloock 17/19 to newer defensive shooters mainly due to to cheaper ammo. Thought being typical person will spend about the same amount of money on ammo regardless of caliber, thus with the 9mm they will tend to fire and train about twice as much as they would with the 45 (as 9mm's roughly half the cost of 45's). Could be faulty logic on my part though ;)
I think 40 and 45 are both good rounds, but I am not a big fan of the 9mm. It might just be me, i think they are more like a pop gun, i mean if you ever pay attention, you could see the bullet fly.
I use my 357 for home defense, and my dad use a 10mm. but over all 45 is a great round ,and I love my 1911 LOL!@ thankyou
Better to have than need an not have. Don't be fooled with a 9 blah blah blah carry enough gun. Ur 9 might expand but my 45 ain't getting any smaller. There's a difference look into when the Germans, they would shoot with their 9s and injure us and we would turn around and blast them away with a good o 45. Carry enough gun! Why cut corners when ur life is on the line
45 is bigger and easier to shoot than 40 plus with glock u can run 15 rnds with +2 plate. Don't settle for less, practice, carry and buy 45. Glock 21 is a very good option. Simple and reliable. After comparing and shooing all 3 me and my girl shoot 45 only. Lifes too short why go small. I carry a 21 everywhere and Iam not a huge guy. I like carrying enough firepower.
I think you are right, but you need to realize that people are lazy. People will think that simply having a .45 will solve their problems. See I don't mind the .45, I just hate the mentality that it breeds. It breeds complacency and carelessness. People will simply rely on the theory that shooting an assailant with a .45 guarantees their safety. What guarantees safety is shot placement regardless of caliber of bullet type.
no doubt the glock 21 would kill anything that came in your home, but i like to practice with my gun that i'm going to use, like you said the 45 is an expensive round, i don't have much money to throw around, so for that reason i just decided to go with a glock 17, i practice with cheap federal champion ammo, and for self defense i have enough confidence in the 147 gr round. but honestly you can't go wrong with a 9mm 147 gr, 40 cal 180 gr, or the old 45.
The 10mm trend is underway. I love my G21 and she shoots soo sweat. However my G20sf 10mm with hot underwood ammo can take down medium sized game. Even if faced with an home invader or bank robber situation where body armor is involved. 650lbs of force will at least knock them down. (9, 40, 45 can't claim that) Recoil hysteria is all hype, feels like the .45. Glock uses a heavier slide so it feels the same.
Great video! Great editing, subscribed. The Glock 20 is the most powerful Glock made.

I use a similar strategy to yours. I have a 1911 .45 for home defense, and carry a 9mm for self defense. The Glock has the capacity, the 1911 the speed....(all single action shots) you can't go wrong with either though! Nice vid.
I agree. I have 9mm, 45ACP, and 10mm Glocks. I use the 45 for home defense. I use the 10mm on the road or in the woods. It is hard to beat the Glock 26 for concealed carry. I also have 44 magnums, 357 magnums, and an awesome Ruger Redhawk 45 Colt. The 45 colt would win except for the capacity of the Glock 45ACP. The 45 ACP Double Tap plus P or Speer Gold dot 230 grain hp loads are all I need for two legged varmints.
@subhunter111 that's what sucks about a glock is no safety, Its only got the side trigger safety if someone grabs the gone in a angle position it wont fire, Really g locks are made mostly for law enforcement, I been for 14 years that's all i carry is a glock 21, With the ghost trigger system you can go wrong
@dust1n1269 The glock model will beat any fricken gun, I was in law inforcement for 14 years thats all i carry, I do have a 1911 colt which i really love but with 230 grain jaggered hollow points no one will walk away from that
@truckingusa1955 Sorry i met the model 21 will beat any gun especially with a 3.5 ghost trigger system, The ghost system you will never miss your target there is no travel at all its awesome only $24.00
@MagicCat3 10mm is over looked too often. I have a glock21SF I also handload. I am considering a Glock 20SF only since I handload. Factory ammo in 10mm is so expensive.
Good vid. Planning to get a 21 gen 4 next (currently have the 23 and 27), and home defense is the plan. I do think shotguns/rifles are good home defense choices, but I'm in an apartment with narrow hallways and lots of tight corners, so I prefer something smaller and more maneuverable.
Well done, , sir. You covered the major characteristics of the gun and caliber. I carry the Glock 23, but, like you, the Glock 21 is near my bed at night. It is amazingly accurate and shoots with very little recoil for a caliber that large. I shoot it the least, when compared to my 23 and Glock 17, but when I do, it's like the gun never left my hand. I deliver nice tight groups from the get-go. Great video. Make more.
I got to shoot the 21 at the range today. I am torn between the 21 & 22. I currently use the 17 & a shotgun for home, but thinking hard on a larger round.
Good choice...very burly piece, more reliable platform for delivering the 45 ACP than a 1911 in most cases....less moving parts, less things to go wrong. It being thicker and heavier than the 17 or 22 frame, it does control well.
I respectively disagree with you just on the basis of the tragectory of the .45 ACP. I find that it drops like a rock. but to each their own, glad you found something like
@TheIamfrustrated most self defense situations occur within 15 feet.(somehwhere around there, looked it up a week ago)so bullet drop shouldn't be an issue.b.t.w. you might have a tough time arguing self defense is the perp is 25 or more feet away.
@justcallmeskippy ah, but, I remember reading a thing on front sight were he argued that the shotgun (with the cylindrical choke) and 00 buck shot was the ultimate in home defence. yeah, you would have a hard time explaining self defence, unless he had a sub gun or something long like that
I too believe the glock 21 would be a good option. I do have respectfully disagree with you on the glock 30. I think the glock 30 is a good home defense option as well, because it excepts 9, 10, glock 21 13, round mags, Arrendondo +4 mag extensions(17 round mag), 27 round kci mags and kriss super v g30 mag extensions for a (31 round mag). G 36 not so much because of it limited capacity mags. good vid...
Sir, you have a radio announcer's voice. It's very pleasant and booming. I enjoy listening to you speaking. Moreover, I bet you also have a great singing voice as well. In one of your future presentation, if you would sing a few notes, it would be great. Finally, if you have an opportunity to get on the radio, you should do so and get feedback.
I do own Gen 1 and Gen 2 Glock 21 and equipped my sons with same. We are Glock 21 household. We are believers in Glock 21.
The .45 ACP is a devastating round and some ppl agree that if you are going to carry that should be what you carry, I don't own a .45 ACP i do own a Glock 23 4th Gen in 40 S&W I think personally your home defense should be whatever you shoot best with, but this was a awesome video good points i might add thanks alot.
First let me say great video with lot's of info. I agree with Mr. Cleaner Nash comment,I prefer the 9mm glock 19 and I have two of them one for the wife and one for me. If I am not home she has the same gun we both shoot well and not have to deal with something she is not comfortable with and it the event we are both home and are separated by a zombie attack we can exchange magazine much easier.
In closing you have a glock..the AK-47 of pistols.
Hey bro, got a question; wouldn't it be more benificial to have a G30 for home defense? The reason why I asked this question is because the G30 can use its big brother mag; G21. So at the end of the day you can have a solid home defense/CCW with the capacity of packing the heavy hitting 13 round mag with one in the pipe. Good vid as always, just trying to help someone save a few more coins
I carry the G30 in the cool months and it sits on my bedstand. I carry a 9mm in the warmer months. No matter what anyone tries to say .45 is much more effective than a 9mm. Hands down. Being said. I've a 12ga shotgun propped up next to my bed and that would actually be what i typically reach for. 8)
Any home defence gun should be loaded with frangible ammo though imo.
The glock 21 is indeed a great HD gun for most people unless ofcourse a bear breaks into your house. In areas with a sizeable population I think a glock 20 should be a better option.
I'm runnin 9mm for home defense mainly b/c my wife can pick up any home defense gun and handle it very well if I'm not around. Packin 124 gr +P so it works. Otherwise i hear ya on the 45. I'd have my Kimber Warrior w/ 10 rd mags and TLR1 if it was just me.
There is no real reason to believe that .45ACP is more effective than .40S&W or 9mm ... there is no greater "stopping power" involved. Seriously, there just isn't.
glock 21 or HK USP, i would personally go with the USP because i would want my first shot to be in DA incase i am under stress or am groggy from waking up
cool vid dude. i believe 13 rounds of .45 ACP is PLENTY for home protection. Lets get real here, its a beast of a round. @MrColionNoir My bro has a .45, it's a 100 dollar hi point that he painted golden tiger stripes on LOL. But i tell u what. 9 shots, 100 percent reliable. People say they're unreliable but..i havent seen it jam up yet.. /watch?v=V5CNQIv1wq8
