I see a lot of bickering about about old school games that took WAYYYYY more skill(which they did. you can't argue that) vs. new school games that are more accessible. Unfortunately it is inevitable because every time any company makes a new game, they are looking to expand their market. The easiest way to do this is make the games user friendly to the point where almost anyone has a chance against anyone. All we can do is adapt and appreciate what we can. Bitching won't do much.

Explain to me this, how can a team like Hayato, Jin, and Amingo possibly face off against a team like Sentinel, Cable, and Storm? You just can't even imagine it. And how are they spamming? Saw this as a recommended vid, decided to give it a look (huge (U)MvC3 tournament play fan). I was jumping up and down before the matches even started. We need this HYPE in the tourney scene all DAY!
@BuyMeThingsnow I seriously doubt that. For one, it doesn't help that of those 9, Magneto, Sentinel, or Storm are on EVERY SINGLE TEAM that involved the other 6. And it's usually Sentinel of course. The creativity is boundless! Frankly,I think Dante has more creativity and excitement than the entire roster of "MvC2" combined.As for strategy, now that there are more than 4 (Let's be honest) characters to work with,we're seeing a lot more team diversity,and many new strategies. Not just rushdown.

Pint is, even if Mvc3 has more viable characters, it hardly matters when they aren't a quarter as creative, fun, strategic, and exciting as the 9 characters in Mvc2. Not only is there a greater deal of variety and creativity between those 9 characters, but so many ways those characters can be played, so many mix ups and tactics, that mvc3's cast is one dimensional and boring in comparison

@BuyMeThingsnow I seriously doubt that. For one, it doesn't help that of those 9, Magneto, Sentinel, or Storm are on EVERY SINGLE TEAM that involved the other 6. And it's usually Sentinel of course. The creativity is boundless! Frankly,I think Dante has more creativity and excitement than the entire roster of "MvC2" combined.As for strategy, now that there are more than 4 (Let's be honest) characters to work with,we're seeing a lot more team diversity,and many new strategies. Not just rushdown.

Anyway, my point is that those 9 characters are so fun, creative, and versatile, that the game manages to have endless variety even with 4 god tiers dominating everything.

@BuyMeThingsnow I never actually claimed I was good at "Marvel". I play it, I practice it, I regularly get my ass kicked in it, and I still love the shit out of both "Marvel 2" and "Marvel 3". My practice, dedication, and love of this series does nothing to change the fact that "Marvel 2" is within the top 3 least balanced fighting games anyone seriously plays. @Eshmasesh But the reverse is also true. How good I am at "Marvel" does not change how balanced the game is. Again, I practice these games, I play these games, I lose at these games, I love these games. It doesn't change the fact the game is incredibly unbalanced. Just because there's a trend for good players to not criticize the games they play doesn't make them better games either.

@Eshmasesh I find it worth noting that I never blamed the game for my lack of skill. For the record, in "MvC2" I play Team Clockw0rk. I'll never blame tiers for my lack of skill, and I had yet to do so before you called me a scrub. The point is we definitely should care. I realize you can't really balance rosters as big as "Marvel", that still doesn't excuse 9 viable characters on a roster of 56.

Fuck, Arc Systems Works has been making the same style of combo-oriented, features-loaded fighters like the "Marvel" games for years now with incredibly impressive balance.People can learn and enjoy any fighter, but nothing will ever excuse the outright negligence that resulted in "MvC2"s competitive scene literally basing itself off of how broken the game is.

Pint is, even if Mvc3 has more viable characters, it hardly matters when they aren't a quarter as creative, fun, strategic, and exciting as the 9 characters in Mvc2. Not only is there a greater deal of variety and creativity between those 9 characters, but so many ways those characters can be played, so many mix ups and tactics, that mvc3's cast is one dimensional and boring in comparison
