ideally you should never let anybody shave you're face. Even when i shave myself i have to be extremly careful of cutting my skin and shaving is quite painful especially if you have tough facial hair. SOmebody else shaving you is the worst idea i have ever heard of.

i know you made this comment a while ago, but i was wondering if you can help me (sounding like an expert and all). My grandad taught me to shave with a straight razor, and he used to put a few drops of water in his mug, then drop some cream in and lather up with a brush. I prefer to soak the brush in hot water (about 80 degrees) for about 3-4 minutes (while i strop), and then shake it out, and jsut apply the cream using that. Is either tecnique better? or do you have a better idea? thanks; alex

Your technique is better. Yours will keep the cream nice and warm, especially if you keep the mug in the sink of warm water.

Thats how you're suppose to do it, but the water you use may be a little too hot for the brush..not good. Use the warmes water you can get on your tap, that should be enough, about 40C degrees. If u want to use warmer water only use it to keep the shaving bowl (with the lather in it) hot, dont use it on the brush.
