she wasn't saying she doesn't kniw what the 1st amendment states. She is contesting it and saying what she personally believes in. I believe O'Donnell was simply signaling to her base that she toes the well-worn right-wing line that while the First Amendment may guarantee freedom of religion, it does not create a wall of separation between church and state. In England they were forced to believe as the Monarchy. They were simply resolving that issue.
