I respect John Norris as an interviewer, because you can tell he cares about the music. He researches it, he actually listens to the music and just doesn't go on notes or comments others have made. I think that helps Alex open up...you can tell Alex enjoys talking about the music. I agree he comes across as shy, but talking about the music opens him up. Matt does seem a bit bored though...hehe.

Most people don't want their music to be challenging they just want it to be some meaningless noisy soundtrack that's cool for a week or so until something new comes out. Obviously Josh Homme doesn't make candy pop bullshit music and I'm glad the Monkeys don't either.

I think the interviewer is asking incisive questions, especially the one about Josh Homme's strong ideals. These guys have no where near the sense of direction as Josh.
