I'm a big fan since 2005 now... but strangely i did not even listened to her new album ... i mean her last one... as she did not release so many albums... i just take my time for this one...i just want to open it as a precious gift...... rare things have often more value... i hope that she will make at least another album : )
Only discovered her on a Twice as Much album (they did 'Coldest Night of the Year) with her, bought 'Some Things Just Stick in my Mind' today and '17 Pink Sugar Elephants' stuck out straight away. Amazing little tune which deserves to be heard by a MUCH wider audience! Love you already Vashti.
WHAT A DEAL TO HAVE SOMEONE LIKE VASHTI SINGING TO YOU ABOUT PINK SUGAR ELEPHANTS AND WEARING THOSE BAD ASS BOOTS AT THE SAME TIME......PROBABLY DON'T GET ANY BETTER THAN THAT
I love your music and I will run out and get your new work. I just today learned about you. I am your age and I play guitar and write songs myself. Thank you so very much for your beautiful voice.
Hello Vashti. Your music, your experiences, your room and all the things you've got in it (down to the reel to reels) is very reminiscent of my own.
Some have commented on the Train song and presumed it refers to drugs. I prepared to believe you were simply singing about a person, someone you admired. If its Donovan, I also love his songs.
Saint~saen left a scroll of music with a note to his wife. Tied with a red ribbon, in his sock drawer, asking her to destroy it upon his death. She had never seen this before. Played it on the piano & then discussed it with his friends. Saint~saen could never bring himself to destroy " the Carnival of the Animals". But he was afraid to publish it. Because he didn't want people to think he, a great nationalist composer was "losing it". & Vashti's story about the "Sugar elephants" reminded of this
I saw her yesterday and I fell in love with her even more than I was before. I spoke to her after the concert and she was just so kind and beautiful. I'm usually pretty nervous and I thought I would be super nervous when talking to her, but I wasn't. :) I think she makes everyone feel comfortable. She's magical.
same, just another diamond day is my most fave song in the world, and i mean that, when ever i hear it i feel like im in a park in my todler years, also it reminds me of peter pan in kensington gardens, its the most beautiful song i have ever heared. i would ask for it in my funrial so it will always stay with me ! x
She's a very sweet woman and I enjoyed chatting with her after she gave a concert in my town. Very down to Earth, she mingled with the audience after her show and was really quite lovely towards complete strangers.
Oddly enough, this little interview seems just as important to her legacy as any of her music. Here sits this remarkable person blissfully unaware that her talent transcends what ever genre where someone might pigeonhole her. She couldn't be more correct in saying there was so little opportunity for her chance to be big. This music can't be defined; it's her personal thing, inviting us to love it. So few write for themselves and keep it so pure. If she took over the world, would we mind?
love her new music on lookaftering, interested in the new/old stuff. amazing that for thirty years she did absolutely nothing in music. i just wish she would sing in something above a whisper, its a bit discomforting at times.
it's fascinating to think that 20 years ago, when I was seeking out all the "pop" singles she recorded on 60's psych comp albums, that one day, she would emerge from her exile of obscurity and actively make music for the rets of us once more. welcome back.
i can listen to her talk all day..
