  • 13 dislikes? Wtf. Link your studio video if yours is cooler. LIKE!

  • When you use ACID PRO, does it need an interface with an phone output for you to be able to hear what you do with it. Or you could just use the speakers of the computer???

  • Niiice! Gutted you ran out of time just before the organ came in... wanted to hear that with the track all together!

  • Very good

spend a pleasant time watching your video

I hope to hear more from you greetings : )

  • where did you learn guitar? did you take a class, or did you just have a ton of practice?

  • I use Pro9 but only for mastering now, or if i have to use autotune, real nice sound tho

  • funky bass line dude

  • all yu guys...try out ADOBE AUDITION 1.5

  • where can i hear some of your work

  • that doesnt look as good as fl studio

but nice set up im makeing my oun tips??

  • That's eas a nice riff!

But i was wondering, I am trying to configure a really basic studio with a midi keyboard and i was looking for a software that would let me record from it. ( i am a total begginer in home recording) . And maybe a few tips on how to configure the whole thing.

  • What audio interface are you using to get audio into acid?

  • WHAT INTERFACE ARE YO

  • hi jeff

    Thanks for tutorial

i also use acid pro as my main tool for recording,

just tought to ask you, you know how to punch in and out of midi? i have a song where i need to continue second part ,on same midi track, but if i go a couple bars back and hit record it erases part of the midi i had recorded,is there a way to punch in a new midi session on same track with out messing up the previous work??,i know you can do this while recording audio, you just follow up, but in midi??

  • cool video. i think acid pro is wonderful and easy to use. might want to experiment with recording guitars and bass in mono. it has cleaned up my sound in acid pro. thanks.

  • @soniclens thanks, I now use reaper a lot more - check it out!

  • Cant you just buy a harddisk recorder?? Like a fostex?

  • acid pro 7.0 screws up my recording by speeding up my samples from my mpc. it's time to up grade

  • @ballsdanglin try installing reaper - a program that i use for everything now.

  • @jeffhamula no its the maudio win7 64 bit beta driver. i have a delta 44 any everyone is having the same problem

  • can't see shit!

  • @brucesinner sorry - time for HD?

  • In your opinion whats the best microphone to use for recording

  • @TheTurdBurglur - for the money I like Shure SM57's and Shure SM58's mixed with an AKG CE1000 condenser. I have done amazing work with those 3 mics and very precise mic placement. You can always spend more and get better, but you can find all those for 50-100 each.

  • I like your set up. I'm trying to get into a home studio set up myself. Saved up about $1200 and already have a new laptop i got from christmas. I like how you can dial up the guitar sound etc, but In your vid, you use no microphone to record guitar? I was just making sure that was possible. I tried searching the comment section, but if you could elaborate a lil more on that kind of set up which would be ideal for me right now to begin with.

  • @austinicity thanks, I would really suggest you get a firewire mixer. I just got a used one on ebay and I can record instruments (direct line in like guitar), or mics... i got a phonic firewire mixer. If your budget is smaller (like me) the next best option is to get a USB or firewire soundcard - a soundcard is required to get the guitar signal into the computer where you can then add effects and process the sound to be cool. msg me if you are not sure what I mean...

  • @jeffhamula Can I get a high end audio interface instead of buying a new soundcard on my laptop for quality recording, or do I have to replace the factory soundcard althogether on my laptop and then get an audio interface? Thats what I'm a bit confused about. thanks for helping out

  • @austinicity - yes, the audio interfaces come in several varieties... USB2.0, PCIM, Firewire. The USB and firewire versions have what are called "break out boxes" that may have additional knobs and features or inputs and outputs. I have always disabled or removed the soundcard on the computers I use and just enable the interface. Some of the early interfaces were only PCI cards (just like sound cards) but were designed for direct monitoring and not just play back of digital sound.

  • nuendos is great

  • @BHTRACKS i now use reaper exclusively...

  • aye can i use a windows xp computer from 2002?

  • @Race2honda yes, i use all old xp...

  • thanks - yes nice moments. I used to play out a lot, for work, but right now it is more of a hobby. Trying to learn this stuff from the local music store just doesn't happen.

  • Nice video. Man, you must have had some good moments in that tippee of yours :-)

  • where did you get emu 0404 for 80 bucks? it is around 170$

  • @mateusz1945 - PCI version not the USB 2.0

  • @jeffhamula yes, i got it before they had the usb version.

  • cheap?

  • @Zkrudriverz not a lot of money

  • @jeffhamula haha, i can only dream about this studio;D but.. im only 14

  • @Zkrudriverz this was all my dream, but now it is reality - just takes time and money...

  • im goign to die soon dont get it!!!!!

i buyd a Stealth PLug and was on my way to record it but dont find no software to record with'!!!!

and when i instaled acid 5 shit it didnt resive tones or what you freacks who get this shit call it..

  • @kamikaze2800 google reaper... that is the only software I use now.

  • @jeffhamula no the greatest thing ever is using some cheap or mid priced microphone like from a rock band game or one on some webcams and using a 15 watt practice amp (preferably randall) and just using garage band on a mac computer it works amazing, you get a great guitar sound from it (for a home studio) and it has an awesome drum maching that can make pretty much any beat and sounds pretty real, plus the mikes usually record vocals pretty well

  • @Killer9299 a mac usually costs way more than a PC an high quality sound interface. Garageband is inferior to reaper in almost every way.

  • @Killer9299 i don't know what you are talking about... randall??? macs should work better for how much they cost. my dells work great, and I now use reaper - one of the best software packages - you can try it for free as well.

  • How come when I record vocals or an instrument into acid, I cannot hear it comming out of the speakers? Like when I plug keyboard into computer I cannot hear what I'm playing. Same with the vocals. When mic is plugged in I cannot hear anything comming out so I don't know what it is sounding like.

  • Do you use ASIO drivers with your sound card?

  • ise ilithios

  • Δεν καταλαβαίνω

    Den katalavaíno̱

  • i just take an audio kabel, from the mixer into the computer and record it with audacity....

  • I have a Metal band and we want to record us but we dont know how to. please help!

  • @Makiller82 get a sound card /interface that is designed for this. I just bought a firewire mixer that records 12 tracks at once. It was 100 bucks on ebay...

  • what mixer did you buy?

  • i got the phonic helix board 12 firewire mixer. It works really well. I see them go for good prices on ebay.

  • Are you u giving the base through an external device ie a bass guitar or through the software..?

  • i am putting the bass through the computer as well. I must say, generally it is hard to get the bass to sound good for live sound through the PA - I prefer to run the bass through the bass amp or take a line out off the amp to record.

  • estudio maaa viejjoooooo

    ja ja

  • @qoziitaa no comprendo

  • que el hardware que ocupas es de 2004

  • usted no puede conseguir equipo nuevo estudio que también es barata. Tengo más nuevo equipo, pero ahora hay video para ir con él.

  • ¿? Machine translation? Sigue tratando amigo!

  • ok i rap and i just ordereded a 99$ condenser microphone and cakewalk recording software i also already have a computer what else would i need?

  • You need a sound card/interface. The one I have used is the EMU 0404 PCI which slides into a slot inside your PC (50-99 dollars). However, if your condenser needs phantom power, you may want to get a USB or Firewire interface that has the panel you plug the mic into. let me know if you have questions

  • Thanks Man very cool video !

  • you need propellerhead record

  • HOW U plugged things with it... i mea with acid pro? .. i have to record everything through my mic... and becouse of that i dont have that good quality :(

  • Are you playing a real gutar or is that gutar rig

  • this happens to be guitar rig... Although I prefer waves GTR right now

  • Man that was great! Sounded a lot like a reggae beat man. Mad nice. Even tho u just threw it together it was ill.

I'm just looking to record over hip hop beats. Do you know any easy to use program for recording vocals over a beat thats not like audacity where u can edit and such? Somethin more professional perhaps.

  • Check out Reaper - free to download and try and only 50 bucks or so. That is all I use now.

  • this is great!!!

  • you should try fruityloops

  • FL gets on my neeeerves so not user friendly.

  • me too

  • I don't really understand how to use it and make anything sound good. I am better at playing the actual instrument and tracking them than building beats.

  • what kinda mixer do you have

  • Behringer passive mixer with phantom power and effects.

  • HELP! Okay i'm thinking of recording the band i'm in at the moment, firstly to get our ideas saved, and also in the long run i think it's going to be useful to put together tracks using software like cubase. I will be getting a new pc tower soon, which will have 2 gb ram or higher. However i'm inexperienced and all this studio jargon about inferaces/outputs ect is confusing. What do i need to get started? I have watched this vid and it helped a bit but i am still lost. Thanks in advance.

  • get a soundcard - mine was 79 bucks. You need a basic interface that was designed to capture sound and translate that into computer language in your PC. Mine was one that you just put a card into the motherboard of the PC (cheapest bang for your buck). There are firewire and USB interfaces, but they start at 150+ bucks. check out my other videos.

  • your cheapo home recording studio sounds better than my professional style music.

  • thanks! This was with my camera so the sound sort of sucks.

  • I can't hear myself when I record, but I can hear the guitar after recording when I press play so how can you listen to your guitar and the added Amplitube effects while recording?

  • use ASIO drivers with your sound card - they are designed to monitor sound while it records...

  • Great sounding track

  • thanks, I need to do another one with Reaper.

  • i have this program how can i make like my midi thing work its always summin poppin up:(

  • try changing the asio settings to something like 20MS of delay. tweak that until the popping goes away.

  • hey i rap and i dont need a keyboard or anything to make beats all i want is to be able to up load beats/instrumentals on to the computer and then be able to record my vocals and mix them.. i have a low budget but i want it to be the best quality that it can be 4 around $500(minus the computer). I literally have nothing rite now not even a computer but Can u help me on what i need to buy??.. and i obviously know a computer is the1st step but i wanna kno wut kinda mic, software, ect. i need

  • i would get a mic, a soundcard, and preamp.I like shure SM58 mics (if you have a typical voice) or an AKG c1000 if you have a thin voice. ebay for 50 -100 bucks. next, get a sound card made for recording and monitoring. I have EMU 0404 - see my other videos. I also use a presonus tube-pre that really warms and shapes my voice - about 100 dollars. If you are going to perform live, get a Powered mixer and speakers, if not, get studio monitors. Let me know if you have questions....

  • alright yeah thanx 4 the tips i dont wanna buy a bunch of equipment that i dont need.... so i kno i need a mic and studio speakers but im pretty dumb when it comes to technology. What is a souncard?? I have no idea wut it is. nd I think a preamp is the thing that the mic wires go into, right?

  • Personally I don't like rap music espeically when their music is created with user friendly software where they have no actual music talent. I strongly believe that most rappers use a USB Microphone (which i suppose is good quality) and use the computer to do everything else. Then the professional studio masters and DJ's remaster and remix their rap music before it gets published. Most rap music today sucks because of this and old school rap sounds a lot better because they used more.

  • I think a lot of rap, like a lot of music is just designed to be entertainment. With that in mind, I like some rap as entertainment, but prefer musical music the best. Rappers have a lot of studio guys behind the scenes getting all the stuff to sound right...

  • got to love the guitar rig...

  • yeah... i like waves GTR too.

  • how do you get it so you can hear yourself recording? should i run my device through a mixer of some kind?

  • you need the sound card that can do that - the one I use has ASIO drivers that makes it possible to route to both your output and the recording at the same time.

  • How can I make my own tune on a midi keyboard on acid pro 6.0 and then, add it to the loop section, into my song thanks...

  • i have sony acid pro 7 and amplitube 2..i use m-audio jamlab as audio interface..how can i use the amplitube as my effects in sony acid pro 7?need help..

  • your interface should have a mix in level wich will alow you to

hear what you are saying or playing!!

  • do you need a power amp if you are not planning on using the speaker setup, me and my friends are on a real tight budget and need to know what is the best price.

  • you don't need a power amp if you plan on using headphones or like PC speakers. My set up was geared at the requirement of having the ability to play out, or have a drummer come over and sit in.

  • so you can just use pc headphones, cause i have high quality sony studio monitor headphones, and im thinking of using those, so thanks now i can make music under 250

  • yeah, the output needs to be boosted some how - the cheapest option is to get computer speakers with head phone outputs... the sound card I have doesn't have headphone outputs, but there are some more expensive ones that do.

  • Nice vid and music skills :) I can only get guitar rig 3 vst to record in mono in acid 6 but the standalone guitar rig app sounds better and in stereo?

  • I always go stand alone and record wet in stereo for guitars. I don't know why, but maybe because most my experience is live instead of studio???

  • Pretty cool!!!

  • Thank you

  • your pc abit shit lol.

  • about like your English? Let me guess what is next... "get a mac???" Your comment is the first negative in over 139 in almost 2 years. Do you have anything better?

  • Haha Jeff I like you. And to SoundAsBlud... Yeah you suck.. . As you can see, it works fine for him, but I do agree it is an older computer...

  • just wondering, how can i power unpowered cabinets when i have an unpowered mixer? i decided that i need some big ass speakers and found some... i dont wanna buy a powered mixer since i cant find any with capability's of my current one..

  • you need a power amp. Don't get a powered mixer if you already have a mixer.

  • which model was the one that you use? and thanks :P my music teacher was wrong, he said they dont need amplification... he is wrong cause the speakers are passive

  • I have a cheap behringer mixer, a numark power amp, a behringer EQ, and 2 Peavey 700 Watt speakers. I have seen both powered speakers, powered mixers, but I prefer to have separate unites so that you can mix and match.

  • thanks m8

  • How much did the software cost?

  • very, very nice

  • wow.. that's a lot of room.. i only have a table and a guitar.. .the rest are in my computer.... lol...

  • haha....nice.... I hope I can do that....

  • I will need to post more videos... I have more tips and tricks thanks to fellow youtubers.

  • you rule

  • thanks!

  • Very nice. You can never really find Hammonds anymore. Is it any good?

  • I am happy with my Hammond that only cost me 100 dollars and has a similar tone as a B3.

  • Lucky dog

  • how ur midi free

  • ? not sure what you mean partner...

  • how did you get your midi keyboard free?

  • nice bass riff

  • Thanks... I am mainly a guitar guy, but I try to play bass too.

  • i made an epic song in Acid, Too bad it was at school and i dont have acid at home so i cant upload it.

  • hey man

  • yo - what's up?

  • Nice! This is kind of similar to my first setup. I had a SoundBlaster AWE32 card with a 49 key controller and recorded in Evolution Audio though :) I felt so proud! The good old days of making do with whatever you can get hold of and patching it all together.

  • what are you using now? I have already migrated to REAPER and use EZDrummer for my drums instead of loops. Everyone keeps saying to go to a mac, but I can't justify it --- yet

  • I don't use Mac - yet - for the main reason it's 'cheaper' not to use them in the long run (unless you're making enough to justify it ofc). I'm semi-pro at the moment and using Cubase as my DAW / Adobe Audition for pre-processing of audio and CD mix finalising. MOTU 24i/o audio interface for input, Focusrite TT-Pro for mic preamp/instrument input, some other random crap aswell as a nice Tascam 34B Reel2Reel. Sound so warm! I may make a short vid to show my setup, but my camera is a bit crap.

  • I really like that MOTU unit - something like that will be my next investment.

  • what software are you using for the bass?

  • Ampeg SVX from IK Multimedia.... I also use the presets in Waves GTR3 and Guitar Rig 3 Native Instruments

  • just goes to show that resourcefulness goes a long way.

  • thanks - i am a do it yourself/self made musician.

  • I'm impressed sir. I definitely want to check out the guitar and bass software now. lol.

  • waves GTR is really good too. Native Instruments and Waves are my favorites.

  • I have liked a lot of what I've seen of Native Instruments!!

  • Hello,

what is your power amp ? It is a basic sono power amp or special guitar/instrument power amp ?

    Thank you very good vid.

  • I have a basic power amp that runs a PA through a passive mixer... I use the same set up to play live so I have 500Watt mains and 2500 watt power amp. It could work with a basic powered studio monitor also - but I needed to kill two birds with one stone. thanks for checking me out.

  • sounds good, but........

Please drop the emulation software, get yourself an SM57, and record that Mesa!

  • thanks for the feedback. I use the mesa live a lot because the emulation stuff never sounds right in front of real drums in a live mix. Don't know why.... But I have never been able record tracks with it and have them turn out right - emulation seems to work better for that (for me). I have a 57 and a 58 and some condensers... maybe my room is the problem or my mic placement?

  • hmmmmm

    I'm not really sure

you'd think that thing would sound really good with a mic in front of it

I guess it's just something you have to mess around with a lot

it is pretty hard to record guitar amps sometimes for some reason

  • i use FL for my recordings and think it's ok

  • It never caught on for me - I now use a software called Reaper - my super favorite now.

  • Wow, I don't know you, but this is really good music.

  • thanks - I appreciate that.

  • hey friend, so please i stumbled across your vid, ive got a 0404 usb and having no luck with it what soever, for example is it really that crap that you cant play along to itunes whilst composing on FLOOPS OR REASON, it seems to only want to play one stream at a time, when you tru to play two it seems to prioritise and disable the less important? also the latency problems are very annoying did you have these probs...

  • it sounds like you have a configuration problem - try using the ASIO drivers and disable the windows ones or even an onboard sound card (in bios) if you have one.

  • yo man i have 7 but how do i set the out puts and inputs i have eveything set up but i cnt get the mic to record

  • it is all in the sound card - what sound card do you have?

  • I have the 0404 but i am still learning to use it, i get loads of clicky and annoying noises when using it with vista though, vista sucks.

  • Change the latency to 20ms or 50ms and see if it works better... Next, you can start to alter the settings to optimize audio... Also, make sure that you turn off any on board sound and options in BIOS and Vista. I use XP, but stayed on 2000 for a long time until all the patches caught up

  • Thanks i will try those and then i will probably just install xp again.

  • ok i know you are useing acid pro to mix butt wht programs you use for the guitar and the bass

  • Back then I was using Native Instruments Guitar Rig and Amplitube Ampeg SVX... Now I use Waves GTR3 - they all rock...

  • good video bro, keep doing what you doing! & rockk

  • thanks a lot brother

  • I can't do that - sorry... However, I know there are plenty of hacks out in the cyber-cess-pool of the internet

  • Wow! That was really cool to see. Does anyone know what the names of those amp emulators are? Amazing.

  • I use Native Instruments Guitar Rig, Amplitube Ampeg SVX (bass), Amplitube (for guitar) and recently tried a cool one from waves called GTR3

  • Hey jaffhamula...I like the work. I have had a midi controller for over a year and cant figure out how to use it. Its the M-Audio Axiom 25...I run Acid Pro 6 and doesnt seem compatible. I am working on getting the new Acid Pro 7 which from what I read is built now for midi. What do I need in order to record my midi sounds...or even make my midi sounds? I know Pro 7 comes with some extra programs to help out but this is frustrating as hell to not be able to use my midi controller. Thanks

  • thanks! I have discovered that other software is better at midi. In fact, recently I have been using a free software called Reaper - you can download it from their site.

I have studiologic midi controller that I use with my midi sound card (EMU 0404). I enable the ASIO midi drivers in the ACID, or the software synth (like Native Instruments). My keyboard does nothing but send midi signals (doesn't receive) so I plug it into my midi in on my sound card. What sound card do you have?

  • I like the way you're playing all the parts on

song.Looks and sounds like lots of fun!

  • thanks, it keeps me playing music where I wouldn't be able to otherwise. Fun hobby.

  • to: ninja, mabey we could compare settings

  • yall need to try out fruity loops

  • I am actually using REAPER now with EZDrummer - I will post a video of that soon.

  • Amazing Work!

I must learn how too use

    that program... :)

  • thanks... I would look at Reaper and EZdrummer if you get a chance

  • is anyone using acid music studio with Lightsnake usb cord. Im having trouble with latency. cant seem to find a setting that works.

  • I do, but I havent ever had trouble
