Oddly enough, Nathan IS on this recording... playing bass.

You probably saw Nathan Winneke. The singer of this is Adam Crook. Although Wikipedia says he left the band in 2002, Nathan Winneke just started doing more of the vocals around that time. Crook didn't completely quit singing for them until after Mechanical Hand. He can be heard on "The Greatest Weight" on that album.
