@Keezih you guys good points actually, his anti clan stance did make them stronger then ever, and makes it difficult to form a national government. Barre had a vision of an independent, strong and self sufficient Somalia. But it failed and created the problems there are today.
Perhaps i am was too quick to give my support to him, people should be judged on what they achieved for the long term. In this respect, Barre does not stand well.

Somali culture stems from Somaliland (SL). The original (not jareer influenced) language stems from SL. The two wealthiest business families, the Omaars and the Jirdeh Husseins come from Somaliland.
