  • i think u should at least let them learn what u r doing frist n learn how to take care of natural hair first

  • oh my goodness that is just a sad case that lady must have been on some kinda drugs

  • That is truly sad it reminds me a tyra banks show where there was young children on there talking about getting relaxers and not feeling pretty unless they have relaxers sad we gotta do better teach our kids that it's okay to be natural (it might not be right for all but at least wait until menastruation )

  • aaawww...poor little girl...shes so cute

  • Has this woman never heard of "conditioner"? If her baby's hair is so dry,it needs a moisturizing deep conditioner. You should never even put relaxer into a girl's hair before she has had three cycles, because you don't know how her hair will change with the hormone surge of puberty. To apply relaxer to an infant scalp is simple child abuse. You have possibly damaged her scalp permanently and also impacted her eyesight and hearing into the bargain. Shame on that foolish babysitter!!!

  • I would be so pissed off if someone did that to my childs hair. What in the world was that women thinking...............

  • Thats just horrific :(

  • i personally would not have put a perm in my childs hair at nine months my baby is 5 and i still wouldn't put one in her hair. I to have had perms put in my hair at a young age i recently stop 3 yrs ago and learned how to wash my hair with a good mosturizer and flat iron it once every 2 weeks when i want it straight. I have nothing against people who use perms, i just feel a big diffrence with my hair without the perm

  • That is sad!

  • I would be in someone's jail if a person took it upon their self to perm my child's hair!! My daughters are 5 and 2, and the 2 year old has the hair from the devil but I will not put a perm in her hair because its tightly curled and dry. I've been fully natural for 6 months now after transititiong for 11 months and ain't no way in hell I'll let someone or myself do this to my girls hair just because I don't like fooling with. All three of us have a head full of natural hair and different texture

  • @MzDija7480 Ma'am when you said "hair from the devil" I laughed for 5 mins straight. Reminds me of my friends grandma down south. Anyway I agree. I'd never perm my baby's hair no matter how much time it takes to do it.

  • Your making it seem like relaxers in general are bad... Nope it's not it's a choice the wrong thing about what happened is that they relaxed the girls hair when she was too young! I got my first relaxer at 13 yrs old my mom gave me a choice but giving a 9 month old a relaxer is stupid point blank.

  • your child should not have relaxers....your hair is not fully developed until after puberty. relaxers are not recommended before they are between14 and 15. if its too much for you to handle buy some detangler. relaxer damages their hair folicles and scalp when can stop or impair hair growth. leading to exactly what you just saw. it can be reversed but its hard work. just wait until they are old enough to make the choice themselves-the professional ..

  • Omh I feel so bad for that little girl

  • I think that's really sad and it seems to me that the mother NEEDS to be bashed because it seems like she allowed it to happen more than once. I got my first relaxer late in first grade and it was MY decision because my Mom allowed me to make it. I'm 16 now and I'm making the decision to be natural because relaxed hair is a pain. It's good the mother wisened up... kudos to her for that much.

  • ur beautiful

  • Awww my friend's baby's hair was permed by my friends mom. She said the baby's hair is hard to do if it wasn't relaxed. My friend's baby is 13months and she lost her hair it came out during the perm. A lot of people think she has cancer so random people say get well etc I hope your friend doesn't perm her baby's hair her little one got lucky that her hair didn't fall out.

  • poor baby. I got relaxers at very young age also. Then when I was 19 I decided to go natural and I didn't even know my natural hair texture. I'm glad I made this decision and if I have a little girl I will not ever put a relaxer in her hair or leave her with anyone who might want to. This is crazy.

  • Just sad!!! Embrace what makes u unique!!! FYI maybe make an edited version where u blur that baby's face!!!!!

  • @Ajbestest what are you talking about? What beads are you referring to?

  • And you exploiting her by putting this video on youtube is no better. I'm just saying.

  • i was ashamed to be "nappy" when i was younger cuz society said it was ugly. it took me years to learn how to discover and accept mysef and to fall in luv with my natural hair. i was glad to see that the baby in the video now has a head of healthy hair. natural is the way we were born, and there's not a thing wrong with it!!!!!!!

  • i'll take my natural kinks and curls over processed hair ANY day!!!!! i can speak this way becuz i've lived with relaxed, damaged hair for years. it wasn't until i went natural that i ever discovered what healthy hair could be.

  • i was horrified to see the damage done to that baby's hair because of the ignorance on the part of the adult that applied the chemicals to her hair! who said kinky can't be pretty? who said straight hair is the best hair?

  • *Tears*

  • umm just to say that i relax my friends hair she is white and her 2 babies are mixed we allso relax the babies 3 and 6 because with them going to school its easer to get them ready and to get rid of nits i dont know why but nits love her kids lol but we do not relax all the way and we use a verry verry mild relaxer they are not iching or bold and there hair is so helthy i sopose its how you use and what to use kids dont need a strog treatment

  • @ChrisCheweyKent i'm not disrespecting ur choice to relax ur hair or the hair of ur children, that's ur personal choice and i respect that. what i would like u to know, is that there are many products out there for natural hair(and its many types)that would make their hair very manageable, while keeping it healthy, and omitting the need for relaxers.

  • Damn

  • btw/.sorry for being 'judgemental' but this little girl could be bald for LIFE after awhile.....oh yes even flatironing is for girls no younger that 6

  • RELAXERS SHOULDNT BE DONE ON girls hair until 13 at the earliest!! this is a cause for cps!!..girls need to wear ribbons and hair barretts in hair first..i wore chemicals from 13-50 and now im seeing my natural hair for the first time

  • Omg first perm at 9months? Isn't the hair still a little soft then? And how could the Mother put such a harmful chemical on her daughters head? What would she rather have; possible damage her daughters scalp forever or take a little extra time doing her child's natural hair? Naa that's just wrong, I feel sorry for that little girl :(

When I was little I used to really want a relaxer but my mom always told me to wait until I was 14 to get a proper one. Right now I'm glad I aint relaxed my hair

  • that baby hair couldn't have been that bad... she needed a perm that young...

  • @hydef4774 No hair is "bad", no hair needs a perm.

  • omg that's crazy

  • poor baby gurl she is cute though

  • omg where they do that at ???????? i would never omg !!!!!! i fell bad for here but she is still pretty !!!!! omg i whishhhh her heir come back by next yearr !!!! she stilll pretty

  • i miss my hair

  • good lord some folks are so hung up on having good hair what hell is good hair all that baby needed was so bluemagic grease and a good brush all my neices I mean all of them started out bald or a lil kinky ask me where they is at now yep down they back every last one of them I wish I new how to upload a video I would show people be patient dang

  • When i was in school I did a relaxer on a liil girl and the mother. It was horrible. I felt so bad for her. And I hated doign that. It was horrible.

  • That's sad. I think you are right when you said "because many have gotten the perms for so long that they don't realize how dangerous they are." But it's a chemical? That would be like putting a chemical dye to color your child's hair. Coloring a 9mos-3yr old to or any child's hair period sounds pretty ridiculous and so should putting in a relaxer..You're not even giving the child a chance.

  • Her mother should be punched in the face. I cannot believe it. I want to cry for that poor little girl.

  • literally my jaw just droped when i saw the title of the video

  • It's only 1 Race The HUMAN RACE. All Ethnic Groups make horrible choices. This is nothing less than child abuse. CPS should have been called.

  • wow thats sad.

like no words but just sad...

  • UM IF THIS IS TRUE .....WHERE IS CPS ?!?!?!

  • Wth! stupid mother insecure mom she has.She shouldve left her hair alone.poor babygirl:( ...natural, natural, natural!! Natural hair is beautiful! My girl did that, perm after perm, weave ins too.talked her into going natural, and now her hair is beautiful and healthy.I have a 3yr old niece with natural curls and she looks so cute! My sis in law would never do something stupid like that esp at a young age :( for babyhair all you need is water, conditioner and comb it when it's wet.but sum moms lazy

  • i liked my natural hair and wen i was 10 i got a perm, and i love it. that girl in the vid though is too young

  • My heart goes out to this little angel. I pray her mother has learned her lesson and stop messing up that little angels hair!

  • This is so sad. I actually wanted to cry when she did a close up of the child's hair in the middle. This is abuse!

  • omgggg

  • They might as well shave her whole head off and start all over .. Smh ! Relaxers are unnecessary does not matter how rough your hair texture is , god gave you the hair that u have for a reason !

  • OMG! I have a little girl and I would never put a relaxer on her hair. As a hair stylist I hate when parents come to me wanting to put relaxers, perms or color on their little girls heads. If the child is 8 and up I will go ahead with the chemical service. But I make sure to first talk to the parents about hair care at home. Sometimes with a more information about the best products to use to make doing the hair easier a parent will change their mind.

  • Well, how about a 7 month old with glued in tracks just so she can have a few ponytails?! Yes I saw it for myself. In the DFACS OFFICE!!! I reported it sure did, but it is not constituted as child abuse! The heck it ain't! Do you know the horror that we as adults go through to remove glued in tracks?? I could not believe it and the mom/grandmother knew it was wrong because she kept covering her hair...and still had the nerve to tell me im hiding it because it ain't hers. IT LOOKED A HAWT MESS!

  • @purplepacion 7 month old with extions of any type is INSANE!! I've never heard of anything like that! The worst I've seen is a 6 yr old with a weave and I thought that was over the top. Between that and this vid I'm through!

  • they shouldn't get relaxers..they are to young

  • wow <----is all i could say

  • OOOH my GOG UGH that is sooooo sad just becuase the mom lazy ass or the dad lazy ass was tooooo damn lazy to properly care for her hair that DHS worthy im sorry no im not listen my mom took my sister and I to a salon and we got the curly perm(jerri curl) Our hair broke soooo bad and as I got older I started wearing my hair natural. I have a 3year old daughter and she loves her natural hair I tell her all the time your beautiful and so is your soft tightly coiled hair dont be ashamed!

  • This parent is endangering her child with doing this along with teaching her that she is not excepted with having the natural hair she is born with. Totally not right. There will be a time when a child grows up and matures to make decisions like that. Do not agree!

  • People really need to stop this because all that does is goes into their adult life. Like dont perm a babies hair let it grow out natural, aww poor baby

  • i started perming ma hair at 2 and im blak so dat means straitening ma hair not curling and 2 be honest it hurts like mad and i always hyper ventelated

  • @MsDestinydiva You never got a perm. What you had was a relaxer BIG difference.

  • Omg this is seriously sad.I understand where you are coming from in terms of putting relaxers in little kids hair. I honestly do not agree with it. But if older people choose to relax their hair what is the big deal? it is up to them to care and maintain their relax hair. Why is this little girl's FACE and NAME being called on YOUTUBE??? She is still a child! You need to atleast edit this video and remove the parts where her face is shown and name is called

  • Nah man! WTH??? And the child's scalp and hair are drier than stale bread!!! ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!!! The mother should have cut the hair off a long time ago!!! At that age, the scalp and hair follicles are still developing!!!! That person who put chemicals into that to that baby's head is clearly ignorant about hair care!!! Hence the reason it fell off in the first place!!!

  • So is thus child still getting relaxers in her hair? And if so is the mother the one still putting them in her hair. This is just absolutely horrifying

  • @project.....you right.....all races make horrible choices.....blacks use relaxers on kids like this....whites spray tan theirs with cancerous chemicals.....is sad what parents will do today because of the mainstream media and what they believe ppl should strive to look like.....doing these types of things to kids are just types of abuse and these kids could care less about those type of things....parents should let kids worry about fruit snacks, cartoons, and playing with there friends not sel

  • @Flomoshn

When you talk please speak with correct terms don't say "blacks" because when you say blacks you speak for all of them say "some blacks" or "majority blacks" because not all black people do this to their kids some of them actually care about their children and the same goes for whites because not all white people go to salons or spas to get their selves tanned :P

  • That's so sad. I remember as a teen seeing a little girl with short natural hair because of health issues. Her mom put earrings and other accessories. She was gorgeous. I used to call her nubian princess. I know that may her feel good cause some adults used to tease her for having short hair. Mind you they had piles of weave, wonder what they were hidding?

  • @jaylon4194 frist of all u need to take them beads off thats to much stress on the hair just graese it and keep it braided and it will grow back and i would have fucked the person who did it

  • @jaylon4194 i know that's right. when they go get they hair done you should take some pictures of it and show the little girl and that will make her even happier

  • That is so sad. For us women our hair is our GLORY. That is waht GOD said in the BIBLE.

  • Giving a child a perm in my opinion is child abuse. Its destroying your childs hair at a young age and excessive use of perms can cause hair damage to the point where your hair will never grow back. Look up the story of the Afro-Dutch woman Isabella. Really sad story.

  • So sad

  • This is exactly what happened to me. I was being "babysat" and they gave me a perm without my moms permission because they said they couldn't do anything with my hair. I was only 3 years old and 15 years later, even though my hair is long, I hate my hair texture because it won't curl for shit.

  • Poor baby! Thats sad!

  • UNBELIEVEABLE ! Chemical on a childs head ? A self hating mother will unconciously teach her children to hate themselves. A picture speaks 1000 words. What that poor baby went thru !!! all because mother does not love herself if she did love herself she would not have gone to those lenghts to straighten her childs beautiful kinky hair.

  • ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooomy GOD that is CHILD ABUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Sooo sad!!! Than goodness she just started her over. We need to love ourselves more. Just the way we came into this world.

  • I got my first perm at about 3-4. I experienced my natural hair for the first time at age 20. My mom didn't really know much about it back then. But now with what we know we know how wrong it is.

  • Slow muthafuckas, im pissed!!! Nuff Said!!!

  • Omgoodness! They r going to have this baby so insecure.smh.

  • That is sad... OMGoodness!

  • can you post an update video? im going to do a video response to this today!! and who continued to perm the child's hair after the first relaxer?

  • thts just so sad!! n i agree wit the the person below just cut it all off n buy her some cute head bands n keep her hair moisturized cuz it looks very dry! she needs to brung this babues hair bk to life cuz she is killing if nit hv already killed her hair follicles. just fyi the chemicals n relaxers do get in ur bllod stream n get in ur system so she could b or hv damaged her babies body!! this is just so horrible!!

  • I do not kno what to say. Y would anybody in their right mind relax their 9 month old childs hair my daughter is 9 months and the only things that goes in her hair is baby oil. I never got my hair relaxed till i was 13. I dont kno what to say except that they dumb.

  • Wait a minute! Sooo how many times between the age of 9 months and 3 years has she gotten a perm? Was it the one relaxer that the mother didn't know about that did all this damage? Or was this done more than once with the mothers knowledge? And why don't she just cut that Childs permed hair off and stop embarrassing the poor girl with those two little pig tails in the back? I blame the mother for this!

  • Hazardous chemicals should NEVER be used on children regardless of the use

  • Poor baby. What ever happened to hot combs on a child's hair? They even have hair dryers with comb attachments that you can run through the child's hair if it's that unmanageable. Or just use afro picks!

  • why would someone want to change anything about their child natural beauty, especially at that age.

  • wow.... I'm glad they stopped that. I'm not too keen on anyone getting relaxers but especially not young children...

  • Comment removed

  • Amen...im going natural this is Deshawn

  • Amen...im going natural

  • she deserves a beating why do people do this a child;s hair does not start changing until they are in their tweens.

  • I know this girl's momma went OFF!!! I would have been in somebody's jail if someone did that to my baby's head!! Before seeing this video, I wanted to put a perm on my daughter's hair when she turned 5 (she's 3 now) but I have changed my mind...Natural until she is a teenager and decides she wants a perm!!

    This is so sad....

  • i got mine when i was 3

  • this is child abuse.

  • She is being taught at an early age that she is not excepted. I pray that God will teach wisdom to the parents. She is a beautiful little girl and she has beautiful hair. Her parents just needs to be taught how to care for it not change the texture except the texture. All she needs is water and conditioner. God Bless

  • @Naturalsunshine41 i got my first perm when i was 3. my mom has always encouraged me and told me that i was pretty no matter what i did. :/ just because someone gets a perm at a young age doesnt mean thats saying that people will not accept her for what she is just because of her hair. the only reason why i didnt feel accepted was because i was quiet. besides, my hair grew alot and end up being way down my back by age 8

  • She's 3. She won't even look like that in a few years to be recognized. People do documentaries showing ppls identities all the time. When you show reality, it helps with impact. I hate when ppl put their children through that before they can embrace their bodies how they come. No matter how difficult to tame a child's hair is, I would never consider a perm no matter when my child wanted it until high school when it's grow to it's maximum at least.

  • When I first saw this my heart dropped. What person in there right mind would perm a baby hair. I hope the mother treat and take better care of the baby hair. Best wishes ..take care.

  • I would be in jail right now

    ...no joke. That's crazy

  • i think that no kid under the age of 10 should get a relaxer at least wait until there a little older

  • Mothers*

  • Makes me so sad. You should look after your child's hair, even if you can't be bothered to look after your own. You don't see white Mother's putting a curly perm in their child's hair.

  • wtf r u serious noooooooooooooo ma'am i wish somebody would touch my baby gurl head with that mess.....that is sorry ....and sad:(

  • i feel bad for the little girl. i was given a perm at a young age also.(5yrs old) but now im natural and i love my twa. ps: is that girl in the beginning your twin?

  • When this video first started playing without me even seeing the little girl, my heart just began to break for that little girl. She is so beautiful and she doesn't understand what's happened to her. I hope that she is not psychologically damaged because of this. When children experience trauma early on there is no telling how it affects them. I know it may sound extreme but I am worried about that child's emotional well-being. A relaxer? Come on, Even adults know how painful that can be. SMH!!!

  • this makes me wanna just cry.. thats so sad. WHAT if her hair NEVER grows back because the childs follicles are messed up?? then what? how will this affect this baby??? she is just a baby. omg people

  • i really think that some of these women who perm kids hair that is under 7 years old they need to be SHOT well maybe that is to harsh child protective services needs to step in . i know perms have burned my dam scalp and i was doing it myself. So i wished that i wouldnt have gotten a perm.. thats when my hair started being messed up my grandma did my hair and she did hot comb and that actually was not bad for me just really hot. But that is so WRONG.

  • If this is bad for grown women it would be extremely bad for a baby!!!

  • My mom babysat a set of twins & they were about 9 months or so, maybe younger i'm sorry to say. Very cute babies with very coarse hair. Their mother was a young mom raising 4 kids with 1 on the way & decided it would be "easier" to perm their hair. My mom warned her when she presented the notion & told her all of the dangers as clearly young babies SHOULD"NT have permed hair but the mother went on & did it needless to say within weeks they were balding & hair was burnt & damaged in the front

  • @shortti3 wow that young? that is child abuse and those kids should be taken away.anyone that says that they dont know the dangers of relaxers are lying.it even says it on the box.would she pour toilet bleach over their heads? wow im stupified by this.i cant even believe it.

  • @mimi42428 Ye I know right, we were horrified. We didn't really know what to do about it and not too long after they weren't in my mom's care anymore. I felt so bad for them it's unbeleivable.

  • @shortti3 this is so sad.i know a person that does this and has been doing this since her children were just over 1.im horrified and sad for those little girls.i try to advice their mother and tell her all the dangers of what shes doing but she doesnt care.she couldnt care less.i have told her all the dangers and they are now bald and patchy.its so sad.she just keeps doing it.she is very lazy and couldne care less about the girls. poor things.they are such great kids :-(

  • her mom need her butt kicked for that one!!!!..... SMH

  • i was over here cryin thats sad. and thats a sorry excuse for a so called parent. and this commin from a 13 yr old kid thats just so stupid. ignorence is definitly what her mother is goin through..

  • there you have it kids, the product of the African Diaspora

  • That does not make any sense that is torture to that baby her mother needs help

  • I dont agree with perming a 9 month old babys hair, but I also received my first perm when i was 4 and my hair is down to my butt. My mother has curly hair and didnt know how to deal with mine so she permed it. I also know people who have been natural their whole lives and never had hair past their ears. So I do think relaxers can be harmful when used incorrectly and 9 months is way too early, but child relaxers aren't all bad. I tried going natural and didnt like it, so its all perspective...

  • @cbedanceteam08 Any relaxer is bad ! Its a very harsh chemical,if you dnt think so let it sit in your head for an hour! Its toxic, you actually have to wear gloves to apply it!No way any toxic product shld be slatherd over some young childs scalp,As far as goin natural you're right its up to each individual,bt please dnt be fooled perm is a CHEMICAL it burns the scalp if left to long what does that tell you, what does it smell like? Its badd news!

  • i used to see some girls like that when i was younger and thought sometime was wrong with them i never know that they had gotten a perm.

  • This is so sad I can imaging how painful this was I've had chemical burns before I went natural and it only scabbed my scalp I never had damage this to extent so I know it's bad sad part is Afro textured hair can be easily managed when taught how to manage it! Tyra need to do a show about this or something

  • wow, thats sad, what the hell is wrong with you when you relax a 9 month olds hair cause somethings wrong with you, seriously, are you slow, dumb, stupid, too lazy to actually take care of your childs hair, i mean, really, come on ladies, just take some time and comb your babies hair, their hair ain't that bad at 9 months and even if it was, i still wouldn't relax it, i'd make it work some kind of way, i would wait until their in their preteens or something

  • Actually, it's VERY possible that was from the perm. I know of several women who lost there hair and received bald spots just like this because of perms. They got mess from doctors.

  • Wow, a person has to crazy to put a perm in a young childs hair. This childs mother should be ashamed of her self because that in the top iz not from perms!

  • i dont think the fcts are accurate. First u dont take meds for a perm but for a ringworm in thehed u do. and thats exactly what that looks like in the top of that childs hair. so the mother didnt give u 100% facts about what really going on.

  • it didnt look like a perm did that it looked more like ringworms in the top of her head! and medication for a perm i unheard of in the medica field, but u do take medicine for ring worm by mouth cause oniment will not treat it! To shave the head and began new growth is all that needs to be done in such case! lets be real on our topics!

  • This is sad. I got mines when I was in high school and I am going natural. I think her face should be blocked out.

  • This is so sad. I know my mom's and grand pressed my hair when I was really young. I did not get a perm until I was older enough to ask for one and take care of it (about 13. Now I am much older and have a 6 year old daughter. I have decided to go natual, and I love her natural hair. We need to stop buying into what society says beauty is and see the beauty in ourselves and teach it to our daughters. I am so glad you posted this video. Stay strong. Val Ford

  • I even think 9 year olds are too young for a relaxer!!! That's disgusting!!!

  • a crack head perms a nine month olds head

  • I can't believe people continue to do this to little kids, someone was babysitting my baby cousin and relaxed her hair and now her hair is still after a year not growing back as good as it should. If I was this lady and the babysitter put chemicals on my 9 MONTH old child scalp I would sue lol, that's some crazy crap. What if the kid had an allergic reaction to an ingredient in the relaxer or something!?. I mean who does something like that :(

  • Comment removed

  • tthats freakin crazy!!!. 9 months old!?!?!??!...woow ppl these dayz dont think. i got my first relaxer when i wanted it when i was 9 years old

  • Holllldddd onnnn that is just craziness that women had no right to perm the childs hair without the mum's permission. What kind of stooopid women would do that cha! boi oh boi if that happened to my child i'll knock the women out! Was the mum angry? and what happened to that stupid women who permed her hair?

  • @bukii92 @sistersnaturally - I agree w/bukii92, that child face should not be on YT. That is humiliating. It is not her fault, nor her decision. YOu should just show the back of her head and you need to be interviewing her mother or father. That is the probem with the Black community you blame the kids for the parents ignorance. Children should not be responsible for their stupid parents decisions.

  • @alecniles I never said it was her fault, this video was not made to blame the child, but thanks for your concern

  • @alecniles With the black community? I like the racism and singling out, saying that just African American families are bad. You are aware that just as many white parents make terrible parenting choices? Or latino? Parenting isn't limited to a race, it's to the individual.

  • Lots of people don't know that child relaxers have the same lye that adult relaxers have. The children suffer in the end. I did. My Dad paid for my sister & I to get relaxer at 8 yrs old. Of course we were happy b/c b/4 that our beautician pressed our hair we hated it. But now I see the damage perms do to kids scalp. 30 years later I have bald spots on my scalp that will never grow hair. I think Black peopel didn't know. My friends who got perms at older ages don't have the bald spots.

  • The Mother IS responsible for what she allowed to have continued with her daughter's hair. Who's taking care of the child, her or the babysitter. Let's be real here, she allowed this to continue and it is her fault plain and simple, THREE YEARS! They'll just do it again and claim to get a milder kiddie perm after a while, as usual.-Stolee

  • Seriously. Other people do things to other kid's hair. I would of shot that lady. seriously.

  • She probably had a young mother.

  • It is a sad reality. as a child i was nvr expose to a perm or relaxer. @ 16 y.o i recvd my 1st perm, the jheri curl. prior to receiving the jheri curl, at the time a big money maker for hair stylist, i told the hair stylist if this is similar to relaxers which are chemical treatments I don't want it, he lied stating it was nthing like relaxers; not a chemical trtmnt. same w/ hair dye trtmnts hair stylist lied. now i do my own hair, don't trust hair stylist. R u sure her mother did not ok it?

  • While I'm against chemically treating children's hair, I don't think this child's photo should be on you tube. Is it possible to block it out after the fact? Why is someone asking the 3 year old what she thinks of relaxers? She's 3!!!!!

  • The same thing happened to me as a child. It's sick all my hair fell out but my mother kept doing it as soon as it grew back. She made me continue to perm my hair until I was 14 when I said "enough is enough!" and shaved my head. I now have mid back length (healthy! thick! soft!) natural hair.

We just need to pray for black men and women who think this is acceptable. It is mental illness, plain and simple.

  • The same thing happened to me as a child. It's sick all my hair fell out but my mother kept doing it as soon as it grew back. She made me continue to perm my hair until I was 14 when I said :enough is enough!" and shaved my head. I now have mid back length (healthy! thick! soft!) natural hair. We just need to pray for black men and women who think this is acceptable. It is mental illness, plain and simple.

  • whoa is perming is that serious you may has well go to sperm bank and pick out the genes you want most fathers aint there anyway

  • Yeah this is very sad, and it happens a lot more than we know. This poor baby is not going to have any hair by the time she's six or seven if her mom keeps this up....:(

  • thanx 4 sharing. This is very sad.

  • Going natural was the best decision I ever made for my hair and I said if/when I have a daughter, she won't touch a relaxer!

  • It's rare I add comments but, I have a six year old and this video upset me on so many levels. First, why did the mom give consent to post her child on youtube. Did she ask to have her child's face blacked out ??? Second, I'm relaxed my hair as an adult at 18 year of age. So I only knew my natural hair, be that in braids or a press and curl. Thank you for sharing but, I hope that natural hair become a lifestyle for so many people and not a fad. Why should a relaxer have every been an option.

  • This makes me sick!

  • This is child abuse. I dont give a damn what anyone says. Even if I was relaxed I WOULD NEVER RELAX A CHILD'S HAIR. Matter a fact I will never subject my child to such a thing boy or girl. No chemicals relaxers. Embrace being natural we have to teach our young ones that.

  • I think that situations like this should be considered child abuse. Children's heads aren't fully developed by 9 months, so to relax a baby's hair at that age is damaging to more than just the hair. I hope the child's air can recover and that she can learn to love her natural texture.

  • That's so sad. The same thing happened to my friend's scalp (she was 12). If there is a way to send this baby some good hair products, hair clips & etc please let me know.

  • this is crazy!! whoever did that should be sent to jail!

  • Hi, can you post an update with photos of how the lil girls hair is doing now? Posted this video on Our natural hair Nation fanpage and the response was very emotional. Thanks.

  • @ournaturalhairnation ok will do

  • I'm a proud mother of two beautiful natural- haired daughters and I would NEVER dream of relaxing their hair as i am also natural. I must say that it was wrong to record this child's face and I also think it was pointless to be asking her the questions she was asked. It's terrible that this innocent little girl is going thru this because of the ignorance of her mother. My heart goes out to this child.

  • if that were my child her hair would be waist length by now. Another generation of bad haircare practices learned at an early age. So sad.

  • Wow..seeing this just really made me upset. Usually at 9 months a baby's hair is soft and even if it is nappy all you have to do is wet it and apply a product (detangler) to make it managable or able to at least comb through and style. Only a lazy person would relax a infant's hair. This also irritates their skin because they can't tell you that they scratched their scalp or that it burns in a certain spot. A child shouldn't get a relaxer until they are at least 10-12 years old (my opinion).

  • @nuknuk1231 really 4 years old?

  • She needs to get her child taken away from her!!

  • That is so sad. Her momma needs her ass whooped for that nonsense..
