Reminds me of when the boys used to trap muskrats, they brought home a somewhat senior aged snapper 10" shell. They suprised Mom by keeping it in the basement. "hissy" the snapper took an immediate dislike to my "EX", and used to hide in any clothes piles down the basement. Hissy also liked to swim in the sump pump pit. What fun getting it out without injury to either of us.

She is in a very large tote with 6 inches of natural bark bedding so she can burrow and there's a hollowed out log that she typically goes into at night. The temp is held at a constant 80 degrees Fahrenheit and humidity at 45-55%.

Hello, just thought you should know that Russian tortoises aren't really from Russia. Although some are found there and in north east china... They are usually from Pakistan and Kazikstan. She's so cute though!!! I luv them!!!

We looked at the large tortoise and decided that we didn't live in a fair climate for a 400 pound tortoise...lol. The Russian will get about as big as a dinner plate and live for approximately 50 years. That will put my youngest Daughter close to retirement age...lol. That is Ruben, he's the only one of the tree dogs that I trust around Anya. The other two would be licking their chops and thinking, mmmm Tutrle Soup!!

Typically Turtles are more aggressive and tend to bite more. Anya, The Tortoise is a very gentle tortoise. She likes exploring, just like my youngest Daughter..into everything...lol. Thanks for the kind words Charles!!
