awesome, this is probably an easy way to break ankles since everyone thinks the fancy thing you'll do will be the pass but not so quickjust bring it right back to yourself. i'm gonna try this on my next fastbreak. father says it shant be long until i am basketball great like american negro robert parrish.
That's a really weird ankle breaker. And if the guy who caught the rebound was going to do a behind the back pass that would be really stupid. But that was a really weird and funny ankle breaker.
the funny thing is that it was a bad choice. First of all, it is not as hard as it seems. Secondly, the defender is at his left side so the correct thing to do was to pass the ball behind his back with his left hand so that he protects it, he does exactly the opposite thing and puts the ball possesion in danger. Last but not least, the defender doesn't buy it, he just trips and fells regardless of the dribble.
I am no expert, but I think this is a classic case of overrating here.
@StefanosDIT Wrong. The defender didn't trip, he was trying to steal the pass. By doing what he did, Baron turned a potential turnover into a basket. If he had done as you're suggesting, and dribble it behind his back but to the other side, the defender would not have moved, and Baron would be left in a situation where he is going up for a layup with one guy right in front of him and a second closing in behind him. THAT would be a bad choice.
yes you are no expert, at that speed and distance making a steel is very difficult. So there was no real need to protect it. the rest has been said by asib 12
@StefanosDIT You are wrong on literally every point you made. First, breaking someone's ankles like that at the collegiate level is in not easy. Second, you can't make a behind the back pass to the left with your left hand. Last but not least, it was a fake pass, so the defender most definitely did buy it. He faked the pass left, the defender went left to cover the pass, and Baron went the other way. I'd say the move completely worked. The only thing youre right on is that you are no expert
Raefer Alston could pull that off in a game. It's Skip 2 My Lou dammit, and this play was sick. It was in college, in the pro's you'd have to be an intimidating player to pull it off, most of the time anyway.
That was a nice behind the back move but that dude shouldn't have been taken out with that. Sorry but he shouldn't have been watching the ball, that is the only reason Baron got by him so easy.
I don't know what the rule is for college, but for the NBA it's actually 2.5 steps. And he definitely did not take 3 steps once the ball was in his hands.
i did this once on accident. trying to throw an around the back pass in a pick up game with some friends. i totally lost the guy bt when i caught the ball i was kinda under the hoop and missed. i wish i could do this man. baron davis rocks haha

It looks hard but it's not hard to do, sometimes it tricks the defender, sometimes it doesn't.
