Can you give me a rundown of how to make 400hp with the VQ? I'm getting some crazy info regarding bore & stroke and piston ring repositioning etc. Did you just forge the internals and boost it with a standalone and injectors + mapping?
@TBAGGZ1 To reach 400whp, you don't need to do as much as I did to reach 750WHP. I would recommend forged internals so you don't have to rebuild a motor. I would not worry about increasing the bore or the stroke. Usually, they increase the bore when you buy forged internals by 0.02 over stock.

All I meant was looking at the speedo it seemed slow for 500+....Mine seems to pick up speed a little quicker. As for the Altima... Yeah went through a shitty divorce and that's what I got stuck with and had to make due. Dont shit on it.

@smokinaltima You are pretty dense. This video was made and posted prior to the discovery that SGP Racing in Houston did not build the transmission. It broke apart on 1/4/2009 on the way to Las Vegas for my anniversary. I just changed the video description last week so that people would know to watch the new video. The car was still running 12.5 in the 1/4 with the stock transmission going out. Its 1st run on the new trans (11.39) was in top 25 fastest for a 350Z. And that was on low boost.

Post a video of you running faster and then go to my350z website and post your results, because you currently aren't in the top 25 list. Get yourself some recognition. @smokinaltima You realize this car ran 11.39 @ 122mph on its first run on low boost, right? The opinion some Altima owner gives on a 3 yr old video from when the car had a blown transmission won't change the fact that it MUST make the power that the Dyno shows in order to run that. That was at 14psi on street tires with full air in them, with 20 degree temps on the first attempt in its current form. 14psi is 485whp, 22psi is 693.5whp, and it has tuning for 25psi as well (no dyno at 25).
@SPiKEZ562 Turns out the transmission was not rebuilt as I paid for at this time. The transmission was failing and had catastrophic failure on 1/4/2009. The transmission was rebuilt and is holding up. We'll see how it does on high boost at the track when it cools down.
06 mustang gt's are nice cars. I doubt yours would hold a candle to a low 11 second show winning car though. Did you have a point for making the comparison aside from looking like an ass?

The low boost is set at 525whp and the high boost is 693whp. Go search for my user name on my350z. Even on my first run even with low boost at 20 degrees outside, I have one of the top 25 times ever posted with a Z in the world.

@MetallicAisadrug Any of those are decent for the 07. The problem is that without a tune, you won't see a huge performance gain. The CPU will adjust for the changes and you will have minimal HP and TQ gains. You will notice the tone changes with the intake, and not with the drop in filters. If you want to change the tone, listen to some of the other intakes and see which one suits you. Any of the options you mentioned are good mods for the 07, so you won't go wrong with them.

@anderson5908 That's really personally opinion. I've always found the 350Z to be a very sexy car with a good feel to it. Go test drive it and see if you agree. I think you will. They are also very affordable. Modifying them for big power is not, however. So, it just depends on what you like and what your goal is. I think my opinion is pretty obvious, given the six figures I dropped into buying and modifying one. :)
@anderson5908 Like mrg said it really is a matter of personal opinion (as is any other car). I am a Nissan person at heart, love em to death. But I was looking for a G35 rather than the 350Z and ran across an Altima SeR. All have the same motor but different tuning. I would have to say out of the 350Z and G35 the 350Z got a lil short ended on the tuning aspect. But all in all when it comes down to it the machine in a whole is great. Even though every 350Z that comes to me sees tail lights
@kioussis No, there are a lot of good exhaust systems and it depends on the application. If you are NA, an exhaust won't gain much for you, without a retune anyway.
Eventually twin-clutch transmissions will replace both manuals and automatics. Then all the transmission tr0lls will either have to evolve with the times (not likely) or find a new hobby.... ;-)
@NJZGuy07 There are a couple of companies that do transmission work for the 5AT for the Z, but you have to send your core to them first. You will be down for a while. If you boost, it will be worth it though. Do some research on my350z site.
@AndrewMcCamentMusic OR....don't do that, because hundreds of people have already done that and my car is unique...that would not be. Also a 6 speed coupe is not likely to perform as well and as consistently as a 5AT with a turbo car.

@FTPtuning 1. it wasn't burnt, it was soot from having twin turbos, without cats. 2. These aren't "ugly ass cans." they are 3" AAM true dual exhaust with titanium tips. 3. This car now has a full Vertex Bodykit.
What work did you have done to the trans to accommodate the additional power of the turbo? Did you install a higher stall speed converter--if so how high--2500 RPM, 3000? Did Sharrif do the trans work as well, or did he send it out to another shop?
@NJZGuy07 Everything in the transmission was built, clutch packs, springs, retainers, it actually has 8 clutch packs instead of teh factor number. I don't remember the exact details, but it was built to handle the power and tq. The TC, valve body, everything was done. The stall is approximately 3200, but that's a bit high for the street. it's good for the track though.

Oh, btw, you know the car puts down 750WHP on high boost, right? You do that with SFR on stock block?

@sofargone561 Well, built motors will ALWAYS make less power at the same boost level. I have never known anyone to run 439 WHP on a stock block VQ for very long. It always goes BOOM sooner or later. I don't think the SFR TT kit has good reviews. Even on their own website it has 1 1/2 stars. I have never seen someone post a valid dyno at 439 WHP on stock block with that either, btw.

@sofargone561 np. Yeah, the motor might hold up on really low boost, but it might not. My buddy blew his G35 motor at like 4 PSI at the track. Great cars for a lot of reasons, but if you want to boost it, I'd recommend building it or planning on it needing to be rebuilt at some point.

@sofargone561 My car is in the top 20 WHP VQ's in the world, so, the WHP isn't low. There is no SFR turbo VQ in the list that I can recall. Check the top WHP VQ list on my350 website, I'm listed under same name as my username here. That is even prior to my 25PSI tune.
@Rtree115 Yes, even on low boost, it is about 2 seconds quicker than the next fastest convertible. It holds the record for time and trap on the 1/4. It is very close to breaking the record for 5AT as well. My only run was when it was 20 degree out so with some traction it likely would have those records as well. I'm hoping for 9 sec run on high boost as well. Thanks.

@DrunkHazzord It has already been discussed several times. Please watch my most recent video. This video was several years ago on a broken stock transmission. The car actually make 750WHP on 25PSI and 525WHP on 15PSI. It just ran 11.39 @ 122mph on 14PSI on it's first attempt in its current form with 25-30degree track temps (no traction).
@Jah2070 It is the non-rev up. This is a built longblock though, so it doesn't have much of the original motor other than the core. Good luck on your Z.
@ifuxwituz It's just the stock interior parts, sanded and re-painted to match the car color. A good local shop can probably get this done or refer you to someone for that.

@MetallicAisadrug Any of those are decent for the 07. The problem is that without a tune, you won't see a huge performance gain. The CPU will adjust for the changes and you will have minimal HP and TQ gains. You will notice the tone changes with the intake, and not with the drop in filters. If you want to change the tone, listen to some of the other intakes and see which one suits you. Any of the options you mentioned are good mods for the 07, so you won't go wrong with them.

@anderson5908 That's really personally opinion. I've always found the 350Z to be a very sexy car with a good feel to it. Go test drive it and see if you agree. I think you will. They are also very affordable. Modifying them for big power is not, however. So, it just depends on what you like and what your goal is. I think my opinion is pretty obvious, given the six figures I dropped into buying and modifying one. :)

@anderson5908 Like mrg said it really is a matter of personal opinion (as is any other car). I am a Nissan person at heart, love em to death. But I was looking for a G35 rather than the 350Z and ran across an Altima SeR. All have the same motor but different tuning. I would have to say out of the 350Z and G35 the 350Z got a lil short ended on the tuning aspect. But all in all when it comes down to it the machine in a whole is great. Even though every 350Z that comes to me sees tail lights

@kioussis No, there are a lot of good exhaust systems and it depends on the application. If you are NA, an exhaust won't gain much for you, without a retune anyway.

@NJZGuy07 There are a couple of companies that do transmission work for the 5AT for the Z, but you have to send your core to them first. You will be down for a while. If you boost, it will be worth it though. Do some research on my350z site.

@FTPtuning 1. it wasn't burnt, it was soot from having twin turbos, without cats. 2. These aren't "ugly ass cans." they are 3" AAM true dual exhaust with titanium tips. 3. This car now has a full Vertex Bodykit.

What work did you have done to the trans to accommodate the additional power of the turbo? Did you install a higher stall speed converter--if so how high--2500 RPM, 3000? Did Sharrif do the trans work as well, or did he send it out to another shop?

@NJZGuy07 Everything in the transmission was built, clutch packs, springs, retainers, it actually has 8 clutch packs instead of teh factor number. I don't remember the exact details, but it was built to handle the power and tq. The TC, valve body, everything was done. The stall is approximately 3200, but that's a bit high for the street. it's good for the track though.

@sofargone561 Because you don't know anything about turbos....The manufacturer claims of HP versus my actual dyno of WHP aren't going to be the same. Plus the difference of stock motor versus low compression built motor. Plus the difference of dynos, plus the difference of correction factors, plus the difference of transmissions and supporting mods, plus millions of other factors. Oh, btw, you know the car puts down 750WHP on high boost, right? You do that with SFR on stock block?

@sofargone561 Well, built motors will ALWAYS make less power at the same boost level. I have never known anyone to run 439 WHP on a stock block VQ for very long. It always goes BOOM sooner or later. I don't think the SFR TT kit has good reviews. Even on their own website it has 1 1/2 stars. I have never seen someone post a valid dyno at 439 WHP on stock block with that either, btw.

@sofargone561 np. Yeah, the motor might hold up on really low boost, but it might not. My buddy blew his G35 motor at like 4 PSI at the track. Great cars for a lot of reasons, but if you want to boost it, I'd recommend building it or planning on it needing to be rebuilt at some point.

@sofargone561 My car is in the top 20 WHP VQ's in the world, so, the WHP isn't low. There is no SFR turbo VQ in the list that I can recall. Check the top WHP VQ list on my350 website, I'm listed under same name as my username here. That is even prior to my 25PSI tune.

@Rtree115 Yes, even on low boost, it is about 2 seconds quicker than the next fastest convertible. It holds the record for time and trap on the 1/4. It is very close to breaking the record for 5AT as well. My only run was when it was 20 degree out so with some traction it likely would have those records as well. I'm hoping for 9 sec run on high boost as well. Thanks.

@tomtom11222 Yeah, slow as in low 11's on its first run on low boost on street tires and pump gas. 1st run ever was in the top 20 for VQ's in the world, but that doesn't mean anything, because tomtom says its slow based on a 3 yr old video from when it had a broken tranny and didn't bother to watch a more recent video. The car actually make 750WHP on 25PSI and 525WHP on 15PSI. It just ran 11.39 @ 122mph on 14PSI on it's first attempt in its current form with 25-30degree track temps (no traction).

I blew that transmission up on 1/4/2009 40 miles north of wickenburg on my way to Vegas and had to rebuild it. I wish youtube let you redirect old videos to your new ones.
