  • Intro song please ? :) Thanks love your videos

  • Who do you love now?

  • still too bad you didn't do stereo, it's *AWESOME*

  • 3:34.... hook yourself into the ehx micro synth and a bit of overdrive and play baba o'riley!!! :D

  • i'd buy every pedal you demo if only you'd play CCR in them all!

  • NOTE that I have not read all of the comments on this vid.

I bought one on eBay, more or less based on this review. What was not mentioned, or that I missed, is that the Shape control can affect the Rate of the effect. I really DON'T like this. That said, the Shape control does allow a wide palette of trem sounds, in terms of duty cycle and almost a doubling of the effect.

Summary: I like this pedal, but wish that the Rate setting was constant no matter what the other knobs/switch are set to.

  • 2:40 kinds sounds like a ring mod

  • @5Harring lol I tabbed out and wasnt watching, just listening and I thought it was xD

  • does it sound the same as the old one or is there some difference??

  • Great demo as usual, guys. If anyone wants to see more features of a pedal demonstrated, they should go to a store and play it themselves. Be happy with being able to go to a computer, type something in and seeing a video on it without even having to leave your chair. Babies.

  • digitechs timebender is pretty beast. i have the memory man too...they are both great pedals.

  • I like this pedal... it's lush and has the kind of ping pong I want but it sounds too inorganic/metallicy. Are there any trem/vibrato pedals you can think of more organic in this price range? Analog preferrably?

  • @evilvon - look for one that uses sine waves as opposed to just square and triangle - The sine wave will be a smoother sound - maybe look for one you like that has all 3 waveforms. - I have one of these and love it tho, using a heavy depth or fast speed get out of a "usable" range fast. Pairing a deep tremelo with a delay can produce some weird results btw. look on my page with the video's i labeled "manic panic" and "product development' - I used some of the heavy settings coupled with a delay

  • @evilvon I agree with you that it sounds too metallic. Try out the Garagetone Tremolo

  • can this pedal make my bass sound like the bass on one of these days by pink floyd? if it does i will buy it

  • 3.36 i like it!

  • Hey, would it sound good with Marshall Vintage Modern?

  • As any guitarplayer with GAS, I keep looking for things I actually don't need. I somehow always have liked the tremolo sound. I had a tremolo pedal but I never really used it because it didn't fit in with my sound or I probably didn't use it properly.

But my sound has changed over the last 2 years and I think it's time to get a tremolo pedal again.... I really have to stop watching these PGS reviews, Andy can make everything sound like you can use it haha. I like the pedal though.

  • Why people pay more money for Boss pedals i don't know. Electro Harmonix are the kings of FX!

  • @manicaldan13 Don't dismiss Boss, the TR-2 is a classic tremolo pedal.

  • sounds like the best tremolo pedal you could ever own

  • 65 amps <3 = massive tone

  • whats the first song he plays? its super groovy :D

  • BORN ON THE BAYOU

  • hmmm this or the BOSS TR-2? I can't decide!! lol

  • I'm am experiencing quite a drop with this pedal engaged, anyone have a solution for this?

  • @ericryanmcgehee Could try a pedal designed for signal boost, MXR makes a great one called the MC401 Boost/Line Driver that I need to use myself. Are you using batteries or adapters to power your effects? That can make a difference as well sometimes.

  • love the more extreme settings, sounds like the repeat setting on a combo organ

  • stupid question : (but i need a serious answer...) is this pedal analog or digital?

    thanks

  • not a lot of bands use tremolos.

  • digitech sucks no doubt, cept the whammy pedal.......

  • This or Malekko Tremolo? Can they sound similar?

  • do you have a reverb or something in the effects chain?

  • hey!! im searching a tremolo bass pedal, do you think this ehx works on bass?

  • @shuckuma No reason why not. Bass guitars work in the same way as normal guitars. The only thing you should REALLY think about in terms of bass-specific pedals are things that alter the tone/texture like fuzz or equalisers. Stuff like tremolo or reverb will have the same effect on either.

  • @shuckuma yes, it works with everything that can be plugged in the jack.

  • What is that riff you're playing at 3:32? Sounds ridiculous!

  • does anybody know if theirs any tremolo pedals that have a tap tempo feature? it seems like it would be really useful

  • @cachetband

The Diamond Tremolo does, I'm sure there are others, but the that's the only one I know of for sure.

  • @cachetband The Goatkeeper

  • This pedal sounds great, but I'm gonna trust that the Hardwire tremolo is gonna be as good as all of their other pedals.

  • I always have a tremolo on! I set it to where there is just a little quiver on everything. I LOVE this pedal

  • I use mine as a ring mod. or at least I get that effect. I have the depth at full, the shape at about 2 o clock and the rate up full! I get some nice sounds with it!

  • what's the song he plays in the beginning?

  • I would love to owne a soho thats a sweet sounding amp

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos hahahaha....nice one!! :D

  • just out of curiosity does anyone know what kind of tremolo pedal johnny marr used for "how soon is now?

  • hmm, this or the mxr tremolo?

  • tremelo+auto wah=oddly insane

  • it really does seem that tremelo is the most useless of all the effects. it has its uses but its so limited in what it can do.

  • You just have to be creative - either that or tremolo just doesn't suit your style of music. I say this because I use tremolo a lot so I can't relate to your comment.

  • That can be said of a lot of effects though. I would take tremelo over an envelope filter for instance.

  • @jxd549 try tremolo with a wah pedal and a delay...

  • how do i keep it in time!!!! if i'm like jamming or whatever, playing the drums, it's impossible to keep in time with it, then i checked it with a metronome and it still wasn't in time. i tried putting the shape knob in the dead middle but that was too hard.

  • @GenDoomVisser

did you mess around with the depth knob of the pedal??

  • Don't try to keep time with a tremolo effect... They're not designed to work conveniently in that manner.

  • @GenDoomVisser RATE

  • get yourself one!

your guitar will love you for that ; )

  • Geez what are you playing starting at 1:11? It sounds beautiful and I've been looking for a Tremolo pedal, I think I just found it.

EHX is awesome. I have a Big Muff, a Small Stone and now will have this!!!!

  • I've been wondering: Why don't you guys use the stereo outputs?

I'd like to listen to the full potential of these pedals

  • @JosephGallagher That would require a two amp setup

  • Yeah, I know that and still would like to listen to those stereo demoes

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos i am pretty sure a big guitar shop chain like yours would happen to have another amp lying around somewhere

  • @TheLedGuitarist - We do, but it's not quite that simple. Our production process is finely honed and allows us to crank out videos rapidly. Breaking that down to set up and record a dual amp rig for one relatively inexpensive pedal would be time / cost prohibitive from a production standpoint. Our videos are intended to give a general overview of a pedal, not to be a an exhaustive demonstration of all it's features and capabilities. Hope that makes sense. Thanks for watching!

    -PGS Video Dept.

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos do you have something that does the same stereo panning tremelo effect (that you refuse to demonstrate haha) but with tap tempo?

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos that bitch betta recognize

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos you could have set it up in the amount of time it took you to write that comment

  • @dressedtosmellgood - False. That comment took about 22 seconds to type. It takes us longer than that to get up out of our chairs and walk over to the booth. Thanks!

    -PGS

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos

I like this guy. I think I'm going to shop from your store.

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos

    not to mention the mic'ing!

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos You guys sell a bunch of VERY expensive pedals that have stereo outs, and you don't demonstrate the functionality of any of them. This guy has a point. It's not one inexpensive pedal. It's a vast array of stereo functions. Stereo pedals cost more in general, isn't it in your best interest to demonstrate why it's worth it?

  • @dressedtosmellgood lol your an idiot

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos with a voice like that, he musnt have a heard time picking up girls right

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos You don't need a two amp set up. Some combos now have stereo and mono effects loop, mine does!

  • Heeeeyy Bo Diddley!! If i find a schematic, i make 10000 of this!!

  • are you using a delay in some parts of it?

  • hahaha OWNED!

  • @BethPessoa you said it man !

  • i have been wondering this forever with your demos. WTF IS A 65 AMP SOHO?!?!?!?!

  • 65 is the company(orwhat ever you wanna call it that makes them amp) then soho is just the model

they have them on the websight and they are freaking awesome

  • SURFS UP :p

  • Tap Tempo is tricky on a continuous time based pedal such as tremolo, chorus and the like because if the tempo of the song changes slightly you are all out of whack and have to re-tap the tempo. Doesn't matter that much with delay

  • When will people learn you simply shouldn't make time-based effects like delay, tremolo, phasers, etc if you don't have the option of using a tap tempo!

  • i know! tap tempo is what makes it useful...

  • when will people like u stop being so

    picky about simple FX?

  • @jwblantCU when will people learn they should have shut their mouths

  • which note is he playing at 2.55 ?

  • e minor I think

  • I've compared this to a Boss TR-2. The EHX had lots(!) of fun sounds but lots(!) of them weren't useable for me. The Boss' sounds we're a bit dull compared to the EHX but they were of better quality and more my cup of tea. The EHX was also a bit noisier(?). I went for the Boss. Btw I didn't notice any 'tone sucking' or volume drop on the Boss.

  • Tested this and a Boss TR-2 in a store, bought the Boss.. The sounds it had (less than EHX) we're of better quality and more useable for me. Also the EHX added some hum to the signal. If you're looking for a tremolo + some wacky stuff go for the EHX.

  • This thing sucks, get the DigiTech Hyper Phase

  • digitech sucks

  • @yanofolk Disagree with all of the Digitech hate. The Digitech DigiDelay (especially) and Digitech Digiverb are beautiful devices; ask Deerhunter. Not to mention the Whammy, of course.

  • @yanofolk amen

  • @Merkin9to5 They're not even the same type of effect...

  • full rate sounds like a ring mod, not bad

  • Anyone know the song at 4:37?

  • dude needs to tune his guitar.

  • Wanna hear this with the rate and depth maxed... Because. I. Can.

  • How does this compare to the Boss tremolo pedal?

  • Personally i prefer the stereo pulsar. The Boss TR-2 has a bit of a volume drop when engaged. Its a simple fix though google it.

  • New models of the TR-2 dont have a volume drop anymore.

  • kicks more ass than the boss pedal. electro harmonix wins all the time. boss is good but ehx is just amazing.

  • How is the shape function of the pulsar compared to the seymour duncan shape shifter? Can you get some kind of volume swell effects at lower rates?

  • can someone tell me, whats the name of the song at 2:03 ?

  • Its called "An Ode to Your Mom"

  • I tried one of these out and I want it so bad. It maxes out every setting and has so many options compared to every other pedal. This is going to be the first pedal I ever get once I get a real amp.

  • as much as a big muff man! got to pick one up soon! it will lookso nice next to my big muff!

  • your big muff is ugly, like you!

  • Yes A Very Good Quality Petal At A Good Price!

(1:53 -1:59 CCR - Born On The Bayou)

  • this is out of stock damn it

  • actually, you can get a wide variety of non-tremolo sounds out of this pedal. I tried one in a guitar shop and they are awesome, very versatile. You can go from classic vintage tremolo, phantom-like sounds to ol' good ehx madness

  • this.. its cheaper and better

  • is there a big difference between the small one and the big one?

  • The big one is just the regular Pulsar, so no stereo out.

  • never heard of a big one.. what do you mean..

  • is this pedal is true bypass??

  • yes

  • Is there a lot of volume loss?!!

  • can i use a boss like adaptor(9v DC) with this, if not can i use a gator power supply?? help please

  • you can

  • Where on the amp does this plug in?

  • rephrase your question because your about to get slammed by youtubers for being stupid.

  • If only I could give you endless thumbs up =)

  • well okay but I'm totally nub to guitar tech. I've played acoustic and I just got into electric and i like the way this sounds but I have no idea where this goes on the amp (which is just a crappy 15w).

  • before the pre-amp

  • Actually, this isn't a stupid question. Trem pedals are best utilized in an FX loop, which if you have one should be found on the back side of the amp. You want to put at Tremolo AFTER the preamp so that the effect doesn't get distorted as it goes through the head of your amp.

  • Ah, okay. Much appreciated! I just got this pedal in the mail today from Guitar Center and I love the way it sounds! Recommend it to anyone!

  • exactly how big is this? im running out of room on my board

  • the xo ehx pedals are pretty small in size.

  • 3-1/2" x 1-1/8" x 4-1/2"

  • Andy I'm in love with you.

  • i love the stuff at like 2.27-2.51

  • i have this and its GREAT.

  • can you use a boss 9V 500mA PSA to power this?

  • mad

  • i wish E-H still made this pedal in its bigger casing.

  • good for Mission of Burma stuff?

  • sure yes!!!

(wow, i never imagined to find some MoB fan here!)

  • How does this pedal handle distortion or overdrive?

  • How does this pedal sound with distortion or overdrive? ive seen the Boss tr-2 handle distortion, but never seen this one :P

  • I've got this pedal. My favorite setting is the choppy square wave he uses around 4:40. Great for doing some johnny greenwood planet telex type stuff. Best tremelo pedal out there for anywhere near its price range!

  • what song is he playin at the beggining

  • sounds like it could be who do you love as the doors or george thorogood played it

  • It's weird, has anyone else noticed YouTube has a vague tendency of making thing's look twice as big as they actually are?

  • It's just the camera zoomed in so you can see it better :)

  • It looks like a huge pedal, but when you actually pick it up you get surprised

  • yeah i had that with my Clone Theory, it looked relly big, but when i got it, its only a diddy little thing :D

  • i like this more than the tremster or demter soundwise..

  • Cheaper than a TR-2 and more versatile!!

  • need this and a good overdrive, then my rig is complete :)....

  • does the rate knob work better on the old version of this pedal...cause i tried this one and the speed after 12 o'clock is useless, is the old version still available?

  • this pedal is analog?

  • yup

  • is the volume loss in this thing really that bad?

  • No, but because this pedal is basically turning the volume up and down, it is often mistaken for "tone loss". It's the nature of the pedal!

  • I build this pedal like 2 years ago as a DIY project and it has helped me find different tones and new sound landscapes. Highly recomended.

  • High Quality!!!!

  • I have this pedal which i just bought a few months back..The first time i had it,i think it sucks but after a few time trying to tweak this pedal..it works great..i'm having a same problem with volume loss but just #@$% it..a small compact pedal that really save space to the pedalboard..

  • This would be awesome for some Velvet Underground stuff.

    Geez, I want this pedal!

  • Electro Harmonix always rules.

  • has anyone noticed that the smaller pedals lose volume and are more compressed?

  • Yeah, I wasn't too impressed with sound of this thing. Not very warm or groovin' at all.

  • electro harmonix makes some good shit

  • My intestines make some bad shit.

  • The middle know changes the duty cycle. I have this pedal. If you can overcome the slight volume loss it is great is is VERY customisable. If haven't yet seen a tremolo a tonal range as wide as this.

  • the only thing that separates this tremolo from the baddest ones, is its lack of a tap tempo function., otherwise, an awesome tremolo, especially when used in two amps.

  • Just because it doesn't have a way to change it on the fly or give you the option to use a tap tempo (internally or externally) doesn't make it any different from any other tremolo pedals. It's just as easy as a tap, unless your blind.

This is the way to go for a tremolo pedal, and if you add a boost to your pedal chain that should solve the volume loss.

  • I just bought this pedal yesterday and there is a volume loss as you mention. Mostly when set on a faster rate and with a chain of DISTORTION>PULSAR>AMP. It is dissapointing because I wanted to run my chain and maintain my level pretty even to get the desired effect but oh well. I'll be returning this pedal back to Guitar Center. On that note...I bought the Clone Theory...VERY COOL PEDAL. The vibrato is great :)

  • Andy... how long have you been playing guitar? who are your influences?

  • 3:40 - sweet sound

  • it's better the voodoo lab tremolo

  • Have you ever tried the MXR Stereo Tremolo? Amazing quality. Check it out. Great one!

  • Beautiful pedal, but i'm still really unclear on what the functions on the middle knob does.

  • it changes how sharp the the trem shifts

  • Looks like it controls the 'shape' of the LFO wave. A triangle will give you a smooth undulation, a square will go from up to down directly, with no 'ramp'.

  • it changes the waveform of the tremolo. Basically how the volume raises and falls.
