I swear I remember hearing them perform this live for free in 1956 in the tunnel of the 14th street subway stop in NYC, which has some of the best acoustics in the NYC subway system. Does anyone have an accurate transcription of the lyrics, particualrly the stanzas:
lol why don't you text me darlin, message me on facebook? nah
I was brought up on this music and like to play it at high volume, gives the other guys at my university somethin to think about. Luckely my girlfriend's also into this stuff, so this song has some nice make out memmories as well as being a great record in general. I'd love that jumpin with the jacks record, might have a look on ebay lol
I remember as a teenager in Phoenix Az. in th 50's listening to this song cruising Central ave,and belonging to the greatest car club in the world. The Monarchs.
One of the all-time great classics from the beginning days of rock n roll. The Jacks were also the Cadets, who made "Stranded In The Jungle" - a jump tune of the day.
They were a West Coast group. Wonderful harmony and lead.
Stone-assed old timey doo wop - talk about being real! It was an era long and far ago . . . lowriding, firin up, suds, Silver Satin and some velvet liquor. I wuz there. Thanks! Showtime Johnny Pal
@arikthefreak Doo wop like this was innocent in its lyrics and intent, and very smooth (dreamy) compared to today's "music". Although innocent on the surface, I would suggest that back in those days it was conducive to slow dancing, dancing real close and maybe even leading to further intimacy.
Love, love this!!!

Great selection!
I remember when I was away, and that letter never, ever came.
Finally, one did..it was a "Dear John".
This song will never leave my soul.
