trees were made to suck up our pollution while we ruin the atmosphere but once we found the solar panel and wind/water turbines we can cut down the entire forest of brazil with the only thing in mind being the poor living creatures..the US was the trail blazer but we dont have the drive to tear down our skyscrapers for the new future..we will be the losers because we have no where to build our future, but brazil does because they waited for the future to come before wasting land, without knowing
Lol, isn't that always the "safe" alternative? Nuclear is clean, it just produces toxic waste, but hey! If you surround it in concrete and drop it into the ocean, it wont hurt anyone...until the concrete erodes. I think pumping liquid CO2 under the crust under the ocean will have the exact same repercussions.
"Maintaining the living standards we all have grown accustomed to" seems to me to be quite erratic. Let's just learn to ride public transportation instead. Look up Masdar, the carfree city of the future.
Thanks for sharing this vision of a zero emission future. Like you, we have started a discussion on the journey to a zero emission world with scientists, anthropologists, designers, but also each of us. The architecture and design firm S11 imagined a "charging station" for cars, and Universal Everything created an animation depicting a world without engine noise.
We need more people to support this great journey. Join our online movement, on facebook, twitter @journeyzero or youtube.
Storage will not be a problem in as little as one decade. There are already molten salt storage systems and lithium battery systems.
Furthermore Carbon sequestration technologies can require as much as 40% of a coal plant's energy. Once we develop comprehensive legislation to restrict carbon emissions, then we will see renewable energy finally coming into its own.
ate 0:20 i see smoke stacks in the background... what happened to emission-less?

A zero emission world would be great but, if we want to have a good future we need to stop sucking the earth dry of all its resources.

The real changeover to zero emissions will probably be fusion power or some other source which we don't know of.

Let's just pump CO2 into some tube inside (!) the earth and then it's gone!
It's like sweaping filth under the carpet...this is going to come back at us one day.
We will not live to see it but our kids will.
