That depends on the relative depths of your filter and your pond proper. My situation may not apply to yours.

why seal up the drains? don't you benefit from the bottom drainage?

The other 2 drains were too near the water returns. Anyway, this video has been superceded by a subsequent pond renovation. See V44 for my current system.

They are basically flexible air hoses cut to size. You can get them at any major koi dealer.

Tangential Point Returns. Venturis under the water surface returning water to the pond, pointed in a particular way to achieve a certain flow direction.

Thanks, Alvin. The shimi was merely scratched out with a fingernail :-) Depending on how deep the shimi is, this sometimes cannot be done.
