  • Me gustaria saber de otros materiales organicos que se puedan aplicar a la tecnica del pit fired.

  • I am definately going to try Raku! it looks amazing!!!

  • @makeupbuddy Hi thanks but this is "Pitfired" work mainly but catch me on facebook for more info and Raku ! Marvin Kitshaw

  • oops this is my granddaughters channel! my channel is barbarajallen

they would not let me post the video link here check out the newspaper basket firing video I think you would enjoy doing something like it. your work is beautifully done bravo!

  • Beautiful work and beautifully crafted. Check out my channel and the video above on newspaper basket slip kiln firing, I think you would enjoy trying that out as well.

  • cool vid!! :)

  • how long do u need to fire it??

  • Thanks for video. I am just starting to pit fire. Your work is an inspiration. Claire

  • Thanks you get some done and post some pics of your pots when you can!

  • way cool.........well done..............

  • Thanks !

  • Wow, your work turns out a lot better than my failed attempt at raku! Thanks for sharing.

  • Just gotta keep trying and find out what you did wrong and do it right next time.

Us Potters get it wrong and get it right, thats what makes it sooo good when it works!

  • Sometimes yes and you end up with a slight crusty surface to the pots. But more often in proximity, its the fumes that dance against the pots that decorate them. Think of the fire like water flowing around the pots and it will make you think where you place the pots and combustables.

    Keep it up!

  • Do you allow the salt mixtures to touch the clay surfaces or just keep it in proximity to the vessels?

  • love it

  • Thanks...

  • Hello, you are new to me, found you by accident. Love the vids. Are those ordinary bricks and was the work biscuit fired first. I know they are simple questions but I am a beginner and I love anything that keeps the cost down. Love the work. regards, June

  • Hi and thanks, yes just ordinary house bricks they do break down, but free if you can rummage in skips, or buy them at pennys each.

Keep it up and never be afraid to experiment just go for it!

  • Beautiful!

  • Thanks, why dont you try this technique with your ocarinas?

    keep it up!

  • Nice color, are you using any chemicals in the pit fire? Thanks.

  • Hi Roz, thankyou for your comments.

Yes copper carbonate mixed with salt, pots wrapped in seaweed, wire (copper + steel), wire wool, driftwood, nails and hessian soaked in salt.

On the new work I also use copper sulphate solution and ferric chloride solution.

Experimentation is the main thing , but having the mind to let nature atke over and let the fire do the work.

    Keep it up!

    Marv

  • I'm a fan too

  • cool video, nice art!!! i'm a huge fan :)

  • Some pretty neat pots and a way of firing. If you keep corbeling the bricks into a chimney you have a beehive kiln. Stay in there eh!

  • Great thanks, good idea, its very organic way of working, wood to fire is waste from tree management and found seaweed from sea.

    great way to involve all.

  • Nice! How long did you leave them in for? I like the one little bird that reminds me of a sweet potato :)

  • Thanks, fired up and stoked for two hours and left to cool. Then removed with tongs.

yeah those little bird/ potato/ thingys are lovely to hold (and make!).

  • Beautiful pots and the music intertwined is icing on the "pot".... :^)

  • Its all about the colours! Flame colours!

  • Nice video - great pots too!

  • Thanks!
