  • Do you spoon it out per person or does it chill and harden so you can actually take out a slice?

  • @katea78 You chill it in the refrigerator, but you still spoon it out when it is served.

    --Betty :)

  • Hello Betty!!!!!! I love Dirt Cake!!!!!!! Will it be used for a dessert? Just asking. Thanks!!!!!!!

  • @ppjbonfig Yes, it will be a dessert for kids--but adults like it, too!

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen WOW!!!!!!

  • Thumbs up if you thought it was going to be Betty Crocker

  • Betty, do you have to have the butter and powdered sugar? I saw another video without it. But they both look just as good :)

  • awww cute

  • 02:57 that's a big ass spoon!!

  • carter is soooo adorable! he's gonna be a chef one day!

  • your grandson is so adorable and you really look very very young to be a grandmother

  • Do You Need Tp Put The Cake In Fride After ?

  • @yourHOMO448 Yes, you do.

    --Betty :)

  • i made this in cooking class with my frands its amazing

    :)

  • Fantastic dessert.

  • Holy crap that looks good

  • Awww such a cute video...thx for sharing!

  • Oh! You can use golden oreo?

  • @CuteBunnyKiss Yes, it will taste great. (It won't look like "dirt" for a dirt cake for kids.)

    --Betty :)

  • Ah carter is a little goof ball of joy!! This looks wondeful and looks easy to make and great to eat.

  • Lolz i dont like oreo :p 

  • @CuteBunnyKiss You may use another type of cookie that you like.

    --Betty :)

  • Carter is so animated and so very adorable !

  • Love Dirt Cake, my mom has made this for me for my birthday every year :D

  • i made this and ate all of it alone.

  • Carter is so smart! haha love watching kids cook, remind me of my little brother lol

  • I think this is the easiest way to make cake because it's done in only a few minutes without even baking it!

  • @Richele1528 Yes, it is very easy, and it's great to do with kids!

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen : No need to bake!

  • @Richele1528 That's right!

    --Betty :)

  • Wow! Only 13 minutes! Looks so delicious!

  • @Richele1528 I hope you like it!

    --Betty :)

  • Betty, the sound of the mixer is not so loud.

  • You must be an awesome grandma when it comes to making food

  • @RazzberriJam My grandson loves helping out in the kitchen! I hope he continues to want to do that.

    --Betty :)

  • I live in the UK and keep seeing references to whipped topping, is it whipped cream? also what is the white chocolate mix, is it our equivalent of Angel Delight? sorry for all the questions.

  • @wirralsam Whipped topping is sweetened whipped cream. You can just whip some cream until it is stiff, then add sweetener (I use icing sugar) to taste. The white chocolate mix is mixed with milk to make pudding--which is white chocolate flavored.

    ---Betty :)

  • made this for a friend who is absolutely mad for oreos (instead of gummy worms we put in those mini oreos) put it in the freezer and turned it out it looked great!! was just like a giant stack of oreos, she was so thrilled! thank you for sharing this!!!

  • @xhm100 It sounds great with the mini Oreos! The gummy worms were for my grandson Carter's benefit, but you can make this into a great dessert for adults.

    --Betty :)

  • Definitely gonna try this recipe out! :) I was wondering if it was okay to put this in the freezer and have it sliced? I was also wondering why some people make dirt cake with the cream cheese, butter, etc. and why others don't.

  • @linlovesyou1 Yes, you may freeze it, but be sure to serve it frozen or only slightly thawed; otherwise, it will be watery. This dirt cake just uses the Oreo cookie layer with pudding and whipped cream, and the taste is great and it is light and fluffy. You may add cream cheese or butter, but it just makes it heavier, and I don't think it adds that much to the flavor.

    --Betty :)

  • its hard to believe that these grandma's are looking so young nowadays..i hope i can keep up when im that age!

  • @angelsparkle8 Thanks for your compliment! I don't think I ever felt like I was as old as I am, so I guess that helps!

    --Betty :)

  • he's so smart!! a lot of little kids wouldn't have behaved so well and have known to use the utensils in the correct way to prepare a cake!!

  • @Phebe10 Thanks for your sweet comment!

    --Betty :)

    --Betty :)

  • i must ask, what is whipped topping ? i have seen so many americans using this, i have never ever heard of it(I live in Norway) is it something you can make yourself :P ? is it just whipped cream?

  • @Kizzyme Whipped topping is sweetened whipped cream. You can easily make it yourself.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen its that easy, haha thanks allloott :D

  • Does any body else think that the little boy lied to spare her feelings? I mean he was moving around the whole video and when he tasted it he suddenly stopped moving....

  • I know that Carter will grow up to be a great and good looking young man :D I can already see the line of girls behind him :) Betty, you remind me of my grandma so much :D already did this with my neices, they love it! but we substituted worms with gummy bears :D

  • @SilverineReplica15 I'm sure you all had fun with the gummy bears and great tasting dessert! It is so great to make food with children.

    --Betty :)

  • We make these once a month (sometimes twice) at school (I'm about to be a junior) and sell them in little cups (those party red & blue cups) Everyone loves them :)

  • I need a piece of advice, I might make this later, and I don't know if it'll come out correct... Can you put extra Oreo's on the sides? My friends will come over and see my desert and collect some home...

  • @Pokemonloversforever Yea you may put extra Oreos on the side. That would be great!

    --Betty :)

  • Your Grandson is too cute Betty! :) And love this recipe.

  • @BayssKree8r Thanks!

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen You are very welcome! :)

  • Carter is adorable. Thank you and Carter for this wonderful recipe. I know my husband is going to be happy. He always says, "Thank goodness for Betty".

    --Betty :)

  • Looks delicious! You're grandson is adorable! And I love how he took his time answering whether or not he liked it! He's going to be a careful decision maker! :D

  • @MeliMe2 He loves to make me sweat!

    --Betty :)

  • Carter put a smile on my face, I needed tosee this since I'm having a bad day..

  • @Heavensblackrose I'm so glad you enjoyed the video. Carter and I cook just for fun occasionally!

    --Betty :)

  • I thought dirt cake was suppose to look like dirt. Why is it white?

  • @RubenRedd I like to think of it as Oreo Cake--but the dirt cake version would be better with dark chocolate pudding, which will make the white mixture change to a muddy color.

    --Betty :)

  • Hi betty, I tried this out and it was delicious and fun! :) I was wondering, I have tons of jam and I don't know what to do with it... do you have any recipes that require jam?

  • @nikiandkinda I have a dagwood-style sandwich and a turkey brie sandwich that could jam as a spread. You can use jam as layers in a trifle. I have a trifle with fruit, pudding, and whipped cream layers--you could add layers of jam.

    --Betty :)

  • That looks so good. When did you first become a chef?

  • @KBAFourthtime Thanks for your nice comment! I started cooking meals for my family when I was 12.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen By the way, do you have any recipes whose steps include "tempering"?

  • @KBAFourthtime I don't have anything posted where I specifically talk about tempering.

    --Betty :)

  • OH MY GOODNESS! Your Grandbaby is soooooo cute!

  • 12:30 LOL!! you two make a nice team! :)

  • Your grandson is adorable and so well behaved.

The little guy would love that

  • ur grandson is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo CUTE ^^ !!

  • cool whip, do you know what the equalivent would be in europe

  • @carracookie Just whip some cream, and beat in confectioner's (icing) sugar, to taste.

    --Betty :)

  • Say, this is A LOT better than watching the Andy Griffith show! And it's one of my absolute favorites!! Thanks, Betty, for your recipes and easy how to instructions. They've been a HUGE blessing to my mother and I. I made your corned beef recipe this week and we both wondered how we ever got on without it, before. It will probably become a staple in our household. :-)

  • They are sooo cute together! :)

  • I love how he just wipes his hands on his pants hahaha! so cute!

  • aww, I used to love eating this when I was a kid! Brings back great memories. Thanks Betty!

  • I remember this during halloween time as a kid

  • Cuteness overload

  • I have seen many versions done as well but the most unappealing was done in a cat litter pan. The top layer was done with an oatmeal cookie for the texture and tootsie rolls were shaped into well I don't need to explain. It was presented complete with a litter scooper. Needless to say it was not touched at the pot luck lunch...LOL LOL LOL

  • Looks delicious!(:

    And Carter is TOO CUTE!!(:

  • that little boy is so smart

  • i was so excited to see this in my sub box, lol! i love dirt cake. i do a variation on this for halloween, but i form the "dirt" into a graveyard and use molano cookies as headstones with the worms peeking out of the graves. i've also put it in a flower pot before with a stem of fake flowers sticking out and used a little shovel to serve it with. it's always a big hit and i love to make it. thanks for an amazing upload, betty.... it's always fun to see u in the kitchen with carter! =)

  • Carter had me nervous with his "delayed" reaction to the taste of this cake!LOL I will have to make this for and with my 4 yr. old son. He loves cookies and gummies so this is a great treat!

  • cute kid !!!! i wish i had a brother like this !!!

  • The cake looks delicious but your grandson is sooo cute:):)

  • Your grandson is so cute!!!

  • hes so smart, he can count better than the math teacher, Just Kidding. hahaha, hes so adorable, Betty you are just plain old AMAZING :¬)

  • Colorful and delicious looking Betty. I think one of Carter's favorites also lol.

  • I made the kitty litter cake many years ago for my two daughters who are grown now.Soon I will be making a Dump Cake to take to a picnic.Betty, this cake is so pretty.

  • looks yummy. he's so cute!

  • haha kids are always the best taste testers, always honest ;]

  • This is a different version from what I've made...does the butter/cream cheese mixture make it taste more cheesecake like? Mine doesn't call for it, but chocolate pudding and the cool whip and the cookie and it's more chocolate mousse like. I'll have to try this version :o)...Thanks for sharing.

  • @Ladylasil Yes, with the cream cheese in it, it does taste more like cheesecake. It has a very interesting flavor--but you can change lots of things about it!

    --Betty :)

  • @Ladylasil

Do try this version as the combo of butter and cream cheese is soooo good. I have made like this except ending with the oreo on top so the worms look like they are on top of the dirt, as they would be the ground.

  • Thank you Betty, that was fun! Carter is such the cutie pie:)

  • i've made this before and used a toy pail with a lil plastic shovel to serve it :) so cute thanks for sharing this on here

  • THANKS BETTY...........it looks delicious and I cannot wait to try it!!!! Your grandson is SO cute,,,,,,,,,,,,,thanks for making this :)

  • Fun recipe. Love when you cook with Carter! So cute!

  • aww great video x

  • I wish to become Cater for a while .... n say I love Grandma Betty

  • Omg he is SOOOO adorable. Love it when he joins you.. Maybe when he gets older he will have his own YouTube channel: "Carters Kitchen".

BTW... the cake looks like its as much fun to eat as it is to make. Will definitely try this one,

    Thanks Betty!

  • hes so adorable and your so awesome

  • i think all ur uploads just get better and better Betty can't wait to make it and eat it :)

  • Carter is cute!

  • aaaw bless his little heart, this such a fun video :)

  • carter is sooo cute :)

  • hahaha Carter is really cute and you are so sweet grandmom. I always enjoy watching your cooking recipe, though this is the first time official hello. :D

  • Also this is a very rich recipe...so I've always used the reduced fat oreos, skipped the butter, a little sweetened condensed milk, pudding , powdered sugar

    and light whipped cream.

  • I love dirt cake. I remember my mama making it for the first time when we kids. The flower was in the middle of the kitchen table and finally she asked "Are you kids ready for dessert?". When she starting scooping out the "soil" we thought Mama has surely lost her mind. hahaha Such a good recipe though. You bring back good memories Ms. Betty.

  • Oh my gosh betty, I have made almost all of your recipes, I love them all, And Im a young kid that loves cooking!

  • Don't you just love all the "help" we get in the kitchen from our grandkids? I really love the mess, and all the laughs, but the best part is when they go home, and we get to clean up! lol

  • Cater sure is energetic in this video

  • Carter is the cutest thing! is he turning blond? I thought I saw blond roots :)

  • hahah he wiped his hands on the chair...my little brother does that all the time!

  • Hey Betty,

I made a Kitty Litter cake one time. I idd use a brand new kitty litter pan and I know that it sounds gross but it was a joke for my sister.

    Take Care,

    Debi

  • Hi Betty,

I have been very sick due to dealing with cancer. I have not been able to post but I watch your video's almost every day.

I have Ovarian Cancer and I cannot have children. Carter is a doll and I bet that you love having him help you cook and bake. I bet your daughter is very proud of him.

    God Bless,

    ChgoChef Debi
