President Gordon B. Hinckley was a fantastic leader. I would like to say that the Book of Mormon is true. I heard and felt the Holy Ghost when I saw Pres. Hinckley at our church and when I read this great book!...thanks
Rodney Meldrum, DNA Evidence for Book of Mormon Geography: New scientific support for the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon; Correlation and Verification through DNA, Prophetic, Scriptural, Historical, Climatological, Archaeological, Social, and Cultural Evidence (Rodney Meldrum, 2008). The DVD is in sections; citations in this paper reference the DVD's section number and title, followed by an approximate time stamp from the DVD.
I'd be very skeptical about Meldrums work. It is so full of holes, half-truths, and misconceptions, I thought I was watching an anti-Mormon video!
Meldrum is not a geneticist, scientist, nor does he have any training in those fields. Actual geneticists have told him to back off on his theories (I know, I asked them), but he has continued to teach them. He is using artifacts that have been shown to be fakes by Apostle James E. Talmage and scientists as evidence. He is making real scholars
look bad. If you want see the many, MANY mistakes made by Meldrum, go to our homepage, it's the same as my name, and click on 3 September 2008 -:- Reviews of DNA Evidence for Book of Mormon Geography.
I love the Church and LDS scholarship, but promoting false evidence does nothing but hurt what actual scholarship has done in the past 30 years, and what will it do when people find out that information that helped them in their testimony is false? It may hinder that testimony. I'd avoid his DVD.
I think George does a good job and has photographs of places that are very hard to get to. There is a *little* disagreement on where Bountiful was, either Khor-Rori or Wadi Saqh, as well as his placement of shazer and the people of Lehi, but most of his videos are generally accepted. I'd recommend his work to anyone. The only problem I have with the videos is the quality. I wish he would have hired the filming out.
By His own mouth He has bore witness that it is true (D&C 17:6), that it contains the truth and His words (D&C 19:26), that it was translated by power from on high (D&C 20:8), that it contains the fulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ (D&C 20:9, D&C 42:12), that it was given by inspiration and confirmed by the ministering of angels (D&C 20:10), that it gives evidence that the holy scriptures are true (D&C 20:11), and that those who receive it in faith shall receive eternal life (D&C 20:14).
Yes.Yes.Yes. but do u actually BELIEVE that its true? it one thing to say that u believe that the church is true and christ lives, and quite another to just agree and carry on with life as is.
I mean no disrespect, for i know that He has died for us and He lives to this very day and unto tomorrow, but it is a question that i must ask to every soul that has said what u have said.
I'm telling you the Apostacy did happen. There was a breakdown from WITHIN the church as well as from WITHOUT the church. The apostles and priesthood holders of the original church were put to death and by the time John was exiled the Apostacy was already taking shape.
That's what was meant by "wolves entering the flock" men with evil agendas to get personal gain unto themselves. This was prior to 100AD.
TCLDS, you just answered the question. If the gates of hell had prevailed, then you might have an actual exsistance of the mormon religion. But you said it didn't so the total apostacy didn't happen, thereby nulifying any claims that the LDS church has to being the only true church.
Modern day Christianity is "Watered down", but the LDS beliefs are the same as the ORIGINAL 12 Apostles, because the Church of Jesus Christ had to be restored upon the Earth.
You "Mormons" believe us human beings co-exsited in Heaven!! and to live this life here on Earth was a agreement we made to live here as a test!! LoL.. Come on you gotta be kidding me!
Why is that such a horrible idea? It explains why we are here and where we come from. Do you know the answers to those questions? I would like to hear your ideas
What would you consider is the purpose of us human beings being on this earth? Have you ever asked yourself that very question? Why would we be put on this earth and be put through so many trials just to be here? God is testing us. We have to pass his test to be able to return with him. You have to be worthy to live in his presence. What we do here on earth right now determines what happens to us after death.
"The fundamental principles of our religion are the testimony of the Apostles and Prophets, concerning Jesus Christ, that He died, was buried, and rose again the third day, and ascended into heaven; and all other things which pertain to our religion are only appendages to it." - Joseph Smith
And so she ran from track to track and from train to train until she finally found our train. It had been moved to a remote area of the station. There, at last, she found her children again.
I'm replying to the comment made a long time ago because I haven't checked this in a while...oops! Anyway, I know my God is right because of my personal testimony and His Holy Spirit living in me that gives me strength every day. It's not some deep theological thing. I just sense when people are lost, and I see it in the missionaries that come to my door.
Please don't mistake being young, inexperienced, immature, or even weak as being lost. The Lord has said that by the weak things of the world He will confound the wise. The light of Christ is given to every person to help guide them to the truth. I'm sure you are sincere and I know that as you continue to search for the truth God will bless you according to your diligence and heed that you give to what He reveals to you.
Matthew records in his gospel that after Satan had tempted Christ in the wilderness angels came and ministered unto him.8 Even the Son of God, a God Himself, had need for heavenly comfort during His sojourn in mortality. And so such ministrations will be to the righteous until the end of time. As Mormon said to his son Moroni, who would one day be an angel:
I love this message. I am so grateful for the knowledge we have of the Savior. May all come to know him and learn of his teachings. He is the cornerstone of my faith and am humble what he did for me and continues to.
Christians: one who professes belief in Jesus as Christ or follows the religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus; one who lives according to the teachings of Jesus
we believe in god, we do what god tells us, we read the Bible and the Book Of Mormon, and we we try to follow in his steps. Thats what Christians do. Mormons ARE christians.
What i don't understand is how mormons believe that you need to do good works to get to heaven when the bible says "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast." And what i also don't understand is how the book of Mormon says that Jesus was a prophet and the Bible says He is the Son of God. I'm not sure how you can believe in both without them clashing? And Mormonism is NOTHING like Christianity at all.
Mormons believe if you have faith in Jesus Christ you will live his teachings. Faith is action. If you profess faith and make no effort to act on that faith, then do you have faith really? Jesus makes this point in the New Testament: James 2:26: For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. If you read the Book of Mormon it is made very clear that Jesus is the Son of God. Mormonism is nothing like Christianity? Really..Pay closer attention.
@DelTacoCrazy The bible doesn't say to get to heaven, it say's "saved" everyone will be saved from death unto life for the sacrafice that the savior Jesus made. Paul was explaining that what Christ did none of us could do, he gave us a free gift of life after death but those willing to make it to God's Kingdom must repent and improve and obey God's commandments.
@DelTacoCrazy The book of Mormon as does the bible, testifies of Jesus as the son of God and of his mission here on earth. Both go hand in hand, complementing each other and both stand as one testimony that Jesus is the Christ the son of the living god. Only through him can mankind be saved in the kingdom of God.
@DelTacoCrazy Mormons don't believe good works are needed for salvation. We believe our reward is based upon our conduct, but it is through & because of Christ that we get into heaven & by no other name. We simply believe that Faith & works are inseparably connected. Read all the words of Christ & you will find that He didn't say believe ONLY,but added things for getting into Heaven: be baptized, become as child, keep commandments, endure to the end, do as I say... I am Mormon; I am Christian.
the whole video , your following a false religion and I would love to see you truely come to Christ . so take off that magical underwear and get your self A real bible . There is only one true God.
We all believe in one Savior, we all have to believe in that Christ that died for us that made resurrection possible for all mankind and that he died for our sins for those who will repent and do good for mankind...Humans should worry more about how we can help our fellowman not accusing or persecuting one another,I believe in his teachings and his eternal love and that is what he expects from each of us to do
Oh wow, I didn't know until I posted my first comment, but requiring approval for comments severely discredits your desire for any real "discussion". If you even approve this comment you will say something about keeping hatred off the video or something, but once you start censoring for any reason it often gets out of hand. More importantly, you have sufficiently discredited yourself, willing to censor at all indicates willing to censor a very significant amount.
I don't really mind your personal opinion of me. I have the approval of comments on because probably about 25% of the comments on my videos are spam (adult websites, free online TV, etc.) that I like to keep off. Also, I don't "censor" comments, but I do not allow those that are full of expletives or vulgarity. I think it is VERY clear if you actually read the rest of the comments that I am not "censoring" critical comments.
Even religion evolves. Look at history do you see any consistancy? No it changes. It starts with someone who speaks of thier faith and says "I think...." Well I ask you if you are busy thinking then where in lies God speaking? The individual who says that "they think" automatically contaminates their belief. "I think god wants this," I think God wants that..." etc. The individual dictates the outcome of their belief and their followers too ignorant to know any better
I like Hinckly he has a very good way of presenting things. This is a nice video. LDS9999 your way of answering people shows a good kind way about you this is good and also show restraint.
His "different versions" emphasize certain details but are consistent. Is it any surprise that he doesn't give the exact same description verbatim each time? In describing any major event in my life to different people, I would likely focus on different details of the experience.
If the Bible was so absolutely clear, then there would be no dispute about faith vs. works. And yet there are many Christian denominations that debate this point of doctrine.
Of course it's only through Jesus that we are saved.
It's Protestants and Catholics..not "many". Why aren't you saying the whole truth, lds9999? You believe you have to do works + Jesus.
Just say it! Explain Romans 3 and 4, Ephesians 2:8, and pretty much all of the epsitles. James 2 is talking about being Justified before men. Read the context.
Considering that Protestants and Catholics make up the majority of Christians in the world, I would consider that to be "many", particularly since there are many different Protestant groups.
I do believe that the Lord expects us to follow His commandments. But we could never return to God, except through the grace of Christ.
There is a lot more to Mormonism than they want you to know. First of all, read my earlier reply. Take out your Bible for once and read it all. Read what God is...light, love, ONE. God has always been and will be. Your God is not our God. Stop deceiving people and turining people away from the true Savior of the world. You may call Him Jesus, but your Jesus isn't ours. I can be drinking something I always thought was water and one day find out it was poison because I never knew the difference!
How about me talking to a Mormon missionary for 4 hours and asking him questions. I'm 17 and he couldn't answer my questions. How about by going to the Mormon Churche's website and reading information for myself and finding out what a lie this is and how much of a contradiction it is to scripture.
If you are a Christian (not a Mormon), you shouldn't hope someone would burn in hell. You should pray for your enimies and hope that they break free of this wrong mindset and that their testimony may be used to tell the TRUE gospel of the TRUE Jesus Christ and further the TRUE Kingdom of God.
Dis Movie is Da bomb Cause im a mormon 100% and no one can stop me from wat im beliving in... Christians and mormons r da smae just some things they teach different.. go to the lds church and see wat they teach beacuse its fun and u will learn a lot... and its da true chuch!!!
Its simple why people know LDS are not Christains. they put there trust in JS. if you don't believe he is A prophet your not saved. thats not what Christ teaches.
Your God is what you believe Him to have done and be. My Christ isn't your "christ". My Christ didn't go to the Americas or talk to Joseph Smith or whoever it was. That means that MY Christ is a different Christ than yours. That means, you are talking about a different God, and from a Protestant or Catholic point of view, your God is not our God. That means you're not a true Christian. It's the same concept with Islam and Chrsitianity.
By that logic, we could just as easily say that you are not a true Christian because you don't believe in the same Jesus we believe in. I think we really do believe in the same Jesus, but we have different ideas about His connection with the Father, and whether or not he appeared to more than one group of people. Having different ideas about Him doesn't mean we believe in a "different" Jesus. I hope you can study more of our faith so that you can understand the truth of this church. God bless.
Your "making" a different God. Yes, essentially we are talking about the same person, but you're making Him a different God. When I worship my Jesus, I don't think the same things you do. That's what I'm saying.
@kag2009 perhaps you god is a "different" god your right our jesus isnt split-minded like yours, doesnt spit in the face of other people just because they disagree with him,he is loving and merciful without end,but there is only one jesus that i know of.....ummm just saying!
Your christ was born in Alexandria! Mine in Bethelehem. Your christ talks to himself and is schizophrenic. My Christ who is Jesus does NOT talk with Himself.
Your christ is now man, my Christ who is Jesus is 100% God.
Your christ can only save a few elite EVANGELICALS. My Christ who is Jesus is the Savior of the world!
We all have to believe in that Christ that died for us that make resurrection possible for all mankind and that he died for our sins for those who will repent and do good for mankind...
Yes...but there's a lot more to it. My God is one (trinity). My Jesus made it so I don't have to do works to be saved (sorry my Catholic friends). My Jesus is now alive and sits at the right hand of the Father. My Jesus is coming back. My Jesus died for everyone. My Jesus isn't the brother of Satan. My Jesus didn't have to earn God-hood he always was and is God. My Jesus wasn't born when Elohim came to earth and had sex with Mary. There are some BIG differences.
In the bible it clearly shows that there are 3 distinct members of the godhead: Jesus Christ, Heavenly Father, and the Holy Ghost (check Matt. 3:16-17) We also believe that Christ is returning in the second coming. We believe that Jesus is the brother of all of us, including Satan, because everyone is a daughter/son of God.
mormons deny basic christian principals..and yet they call them selves christain.
is it ok for me to deny basic mormon principals and call myself a mormon.????
..dont believe wot ur mormon leaders tell u - mormons AINT christian..the evedence for my arguement is right bang smack in ur face. BANG!!!!!!!!!!..mormons deny basic christian doctrines. dont blame me blame joseph smith.. however u can become a christain if u deny mormonism - its that easy.
..is that so difficult to understand?..is easy as that, is not a mistery....Hope it helps/helped a little bit....sorry for my english, is not my native language...GOD bless you all!!!
What your saying is that Jesus was not God. Does that mean Jesus was only human? Jesus then could not take up all our sins and the crucifiction would be useless. But from you belief, he would have the potential to be a God, so then that mean the crucifiction is still useless from his only human point and that God is not the only God which contradicts the bible and the meaning of the word "God".
11And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be "one", "as we are".....Here is JESUS praying to HIS FATHER (GOD), and asking for them (his disciples) to be ONE as JESUS THE SON and HIS FATHER (GOD) ARE..Was JESUS asking them to be the same body? NO, he was asking them to be one in mind, in spirit, in pourpose, as HE and his FATHER..
So by saying Jesus is a seperate being from God you are implying that the bible is incorrect. I have provided multiple verses that show they are the same. The verses you have provided were for the purpose of the people as to how to connect with God/Jesus. If Jesus is a seperate being, that would discredit any validness for the reason of the crucifiction. Only God can take up all our sins.
...JESUS (THE SON OF GOD) was in the water, the HOLY SPIRIT descending from heaven, and GOD (THE FATHER) talking from heaven about HIS beloved SON JESUSCHRIST...was by a chance, JESUS descending from heaven while he was in water, and talking from heaven (saying that HE himself is his beloved SON) at the same time?..again, i don't think so...THEY ARE NOT THA SAME PERSON, BUT ONE IN MIND AND POURPOSE, TO SAVE ALL OF US....
and, you need to read about the baptism of JESUS...Matthew 3:16-17 (King James Version) 16And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway "out of the water": and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God (HOLY GHOST OR SPIRIT)"descending" like a dove, and lighting upon him:
17And lo a voice "from heaven", saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I (THE FATHER) am well pleased.....SO...
"17And lo a voice "from heaven", saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I (THE FATHER) am well pleased"
Didn't the Book of Mormon steal that verse? Once again, that was to show acknowledge meant, as a human, that God was still up there while he was down here at the same time. It was to show the people.
to who you think JESUS prayed...did HE pray to HIMSELF?...Jhon 17:1..These words spake JESUS, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, FATHER, the hour is come: glorify thy SON, that thy SON also may glorify thee......Again, was HE talking to himself?...i don't think so....
I apologize if you are continuesly recieving the same comments. I can't see them when I post them so I don't know if they are being posted or if you have some sort of approval thing to use first. I just want to make sure you are getting them.
To help explain what we believe about Jesus Christ, I want to copy a statement called "The Living Christ" from the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve:
"As we commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ two millennia ago, we offer our testimony of the reality of His matchless life and the infinite virtue of His great atoning sacrifice. None other has had so profound an influence upon all who have lived and will yet live upon the earth."
He was the Great Jehovah of the Old Testament, the Messiah of the New. Under the direction of His Father, He was the creator of the earth. "All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made" (John 1:3). Though sinless, He was baptized to fulfill all righteousness. He "went about doing good" (Acts 10:38), yet was despised for it. His gospel was a message of peace and goodwill. He entreated all to follow His example.
He walked the roads of Palestine, healing the sick, causing the blind to see, and raising the dead. He taught the truths of eternity, the reality of our premortal existence, the purpose of our life on earth, and the potential for the sons and daughters of God in the life to come.
He instituted the sacrament as a reminder of His great atoning sacrifice. He was arrested and condemned on spurious charges, convicted to satisfy a mob, and sentenced to die on Calvary's cross.
He gave His life to atone for the sins of all mankind. His was a great vicarious gift in behalf of all who would ever live upon the earth.
We solemnly testify that His life, which is central to all human history, neither began in Bethlehem nor concluded on Calvary. He was the Firstborn of the Father, the Only Begotten Son in the flesh, the Redeemer of the world.
He rose from the grave to "become the firstfruits of them that slept" (1 Corinthians 15:20).
As Risen Lord, He visited among those He had loved in life. He also ministered among His "other sheep" (John 10:16) in ancient America. In the modern world, He and His Father appeared to the boy Joseph Smith, ushering in the long-promised "dispensation of the fulness of times" (Ephesians 1:10).
Of the Living Christ, the Prophet Joseph wrote: "His eyes were as a flame of fire; the hair of his head was white like the pure snow; his countenance shone above the brightness of the sun;
and his voice was as the sound of the rushing of great waters, even the voice of Jehovah, saying:
"I am the first and the last; I am he who liveth, I am he who was slain; I am your advocate with the Father" (D&C 110:3--4).
Of Him the Prophet also declared: "And now, after the many testimonies which have been given of him, this is the testimony, last of all, which we give of him: That he lives!
"For we saw him, even on the right hand of God; and we heard the voice bearing record that he is the Only Begotten of the Father—
"That by him, and through him, and of him, the worlds are and were created, and the inhabitants thereof are begotten sons and daughters unto God" (D&C 76:22--24).
We declare in words of solemnity that His priesthood and His Church have been restored upon the earth—
"built upon the foundation of . . . apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone" (Ephesians 2:20).
We testify that He will someday return to earth. "And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together" (Isaiah 40:5). He will rule as King of Kings and reign as Lord of Lords, and every knee shall bend and every tongue shall speak in worship before Him.
Each of us will stand to be judged of Him according to our works and the desires of our hearts. We bear testimony, as His duly ordained Apostles—that Jesus is the Living Christ, the immortal Son of God. He is the great King Immanuel, who stands today on the right hand of His Father. He is the light, the life, and the hope of the world. His way is the path that leads to happiness in this life and eternal life in the world to come. God be thanked for the matchless gift of His divine Son.
Wait a minute, wasn't "The Living Christ" issued Jan 1, 2000?
(Ephesians 1:10) explains that Christ already did that, the first time he came, 2000 years ago. he came and brought "...everything together under the authority of Christ..."
You wouldn't think he meant "other sheep" as in the others where he was? No where in the bible does it mention he was going to leave and show up in another part of the world to teach God's word.
The Living Christ is simply a statement about what members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints believe about our Savior Jesus Christ. I can't honestly see why you have any objection to a declaration of belief/faith.
the Prophet Joseph wrote: "His eyes were as a flame of fire; the hair of his head was white like the pure snow; his countenance shone above the brightness of the sun; and his voice was as the sound of the rushing of great waters, even the voice of Jehovah, saying: "I am the first and the last; I am he who liveth, I am he who was slain; I am your advocate with the Father" (D&C 110:3--4).
That was completely stolen from (Revelations 1:14-18)
Well, it teaches that Jesus is a seperate being from God. Now yes, we have our differences about the interpretation of it but not only that it also teaches that children should not be baptized because they are already pure. The bible teaches that none of us our worthy and that ALL have sinned and that NOBODY is perfect. I agree with mormons that children should not be forced baptized and that they shall wait until they are ready. First they are perfect then theyre sinful because they grow up?
A child is pure and honestly, I believe this is one of the most precious doctrines. Before they reach the age of accountability (set as the age of eight in the Church), they are not baptized. First, because they need to understand the decision. Second, children do not fully understand the commandments set by the Lord. Where there is no understanding or comprehension, there can be no sin.
I will have to disagree with your reason for children being baptized. Once again, God says ALL have sinned. From the youngest to the oldest. When is the earliest age that babies learn to lie? They cry and cry for attention, food, cleaning, etc. Eventually they learn that crying will get them what they want and so they will cry simply for attention pretending that they are in pain of some sort. That is lying. That is a sin.
Now the age of 8 is not accurate. I've worked with behavioral ill children and I will tell you that kids at the age of 5 and 6 will become violent. They do it because they don't get what they want and they know what is needed to get what they want but refuse to do it properly. Children can understand basic right and wrongs. Now remember, God is Fair and Just as well as loving. I'm pretty sure he won't condemn a baby for it's faults.
But I also agree with you that it is the child's choice to become baptized and only the child's choice. Some, not all, very young children are smart enough to understand sin and baptizing. He has nothing to do with age.
"if a prophet, or one who foretells by dreams, appears among you and announces to you a miraculous sign or wonder, and if the sign or wonder of which he has spoken takes place, and he says, "Let us follow other gods" (gods you have not known) "and let us worship them," you must not listen to the words of that prophet or dreamer. The LORD your God is testing you to find out whether you love him with all your heart and with all your soul."
"If anyone does not listen to my words that the prophet speaks in my name, I myself will call him to account. But a prophet who presumes to speak in my name anything I have not commanded him to say, or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, must be put to death..."
"But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned!"
Quoting scripture after scripture after scripture, in which we both believe, does not serve a productive purpose. I don't disagree with scripture, because my testimony is that it is the SAME gospel.
"Quoting scripture after scripture after scripture, in which we both believe, does not serve a productive purpose. I don't disagree with scripture, because my testimony is that it is the SAME gospel."
I disagree because we both have faith that the bible is true. But the Book of Mormon is nowhere mentioned in the bible or any event that ever happened that is stated in the Book of Mormon.
"Would it be surprising that Joseph would use descriptions which faithful Christians would be familiar with? Of course not."
No, but he is misinterpreting many prophets and quotes in the bible. Some of the ones I've seen I can tell that he does not read the entire context. He saw a verse and said, "That's what it means." That's exactly how it works. You have to read the entire thing. The chapter, the book, the verses around it to understand what it really means. He didn't that accurately.
I absolutely agree that context is critical, and is something that many, many people ignore.
That said, simply saing "He did it, I've read lots of examples" is not very straightforward, honest, or fulfilling. Because anyone can counter, "Well I've read them all and he never did that."
Do you see what I mean? Vague statements can be countered by equally vague statements. And nothing has been accomplished.
ok yoursilentfilm, i'm an christian lds, and we believe in only one GOD, but how lds9999 said before, it depends on your interpretation of the scriptures, we believe in GOD THE ETERNAL FATHER, IN HIS SON JESUS WHO IS THE CHRIST AND IN THE HOLY GHOST OR HOLY SPIRIT, yes, we believe THEY are three , separated in body, but ONE in mind and pourpose...read this...Genesis 1:26..and GOD said. Let "US" make man in "OUR" image, after "OUR" likeness......SO who is US, OUR, IS NOT THAT PLURAL?..
"Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among you which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood."
Only people that don't know our teachings call us non chrstian.Anybody that thinks we are not Christian after watching the video above you must be blind. Also listen to Cleon Skousen on the atonement then come back and say we are not Christian. We talk of Chrst,We preach of Christ and We rejoice in Christ so our children may know where to look for a remission of there sins.
you are not saved just because you believe, as it says in the bible "faith without works is dead". for some people when they say to believe in Jesus is to do more than just believe he lived, its to try to live your life the way he did the best you possibly can.
you are not saved just because you believe, as it says in the bible "faith without works is dead". for some people when they say to believe in Jesus is to do more than just believe he lived, its to try to live your life the way he did the best you possibly can.
The Book of Mormon gives the account of Jesus appearing after His resurrection to those on the American continent.
Know ye not that there are more nations than one? Know ye not that I, the Lord your God, have created all men, and that I remember those who are upon the isles of the sea; and that I rule in the heavens above and in the earth beneath; and I bring forth my word unto the children of men, yea, even upon all the nations of the earth? (2 Ne. 29)
rxxbro, i'm going to answer you....We LDS (Mormons)believe that JESUS came to America, not exactly to North America, but to the American Continent, wich is huge,..and yes, HE spoke to the native americans (indians) ancestors, and they wrotte HIS teachings, you can find them in THE BOOK OF MORMON, wich is another TESTAMENT OF JESUSCHRIST, the other is THE BIBLE...does it answer your question?..
The bible is a complete book. By saying the book of mormon is an addition, implies that the bible is inaccurate which would then lose any credibility for the bible. There is no prophecy or anything in the bible that says Jesus would leave and appear on the other side of the world or in a different Continent. Genetics disproves your claim that the native americans were from the middle east.
First, we never claim that the Book of Mormon is an "addition" to the Bible. It is a separate book and another witness of Jesus Christ. That does not affect the credibility of the Bible, just as the testimony of John the Revelator does not affect the testimony of Paul.
Gordon B. Hinckley was truly a great man. I grew up on his teachings and leadership in the church. A giant of spiritual strength.

He is making real scholars
fairldsorg 2 years ago 3

Has the day of miracles ceased?

Christians: one who professes belief in Jesus as Christ or follows the religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus; one who lives according to the teachings of Jesus
we believe in god, we do what god tells us, we read the Bible and the Book Of Mormon, and we we try to follow in his steps. Thats what Christians do. Mormons ARE christians.
Punkgirl4ever4 3 years ago 3
What i don't understand is how mormons believe that you need to do good works to get to heaven when the bible says "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast." And what i also don't understand is how the book of Mormon says that Jesus was a prophet and the Bible says He is the Son of God. I'm not sure how you can believe in both without them clashing? And Mormonism is NOTHING like Christianity at all.
DelTacoCrazy 3 years ago
Mormonism is Christianity. The proper name is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
We believe that we that we can only be saved through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, but that He expects us to also follow His commandments.
The Book of Mormon says countless times in no uncertain terms that Jesus is the Son of God. Have you ever read the Book of Mormon in its entirety?
lds9999 3 years ago 5
Mormons believe if you have faith in Jesus Christ you will live his teachings. Faith is action. If you profess faith and make no effort to act on that faith, then do you have faith really? Jesus makes this point in the New Testament: James 2:26: For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. If you read the Book of Mormon it is made very clear that Jesus is the Son of God. Mormonism is nothing like Christianity? Really..Pay closer attention.
savegekim 3 years ago 5
@DelTacoCrazy The bible doesn't say to get to heaven, it say's "saved" everyone will be saved from death unto life for the sacrafice that the savior Jesus made. Paul was explaining that what Christ did none of us could do, he gave us a free gift of life after death but those willing to make it to God's Kingdom must repent and improve and obey God's commandments.
dirkhunter 1 year ago
@DelTacoCrazy The book of Mormon as does the bible, testifies of Jesus as the son of God and of his mission here on earth. Both go hand in hand, complementing each other and both stand as one testimony that Jesus is the Christ the son of the living god. Only through him can mankind be saved in the kingdom of God.
SHENAKU 1 year ago 2
@DelTacoCrazy and caps locks isnt going to give you any credibility!
solarflare311 1 year ago
@DelTacoCrazy Mormons don't believe good works are needed for salvation. We believe our reward is based upon our conduct, but it is through & because of Christ that we get into heaven & by no other name. We simply believe that Faith & works are inseparably connected. Read all the words of Christ & you will find that He didn't say believe ONLY,but added things for getting into Heaven: be baptized, become as child, keep commandments, endure to the end, do as I say... I am Mormon; I am Christian.

Oh wow, I didn't know until I posted my first comment, but requiring approval for comments severely discredits your desire for any real "discussion". If you even approve this comment you will say something about keeping hatred off the video or something, but once you start censoring for any reason it often gets out of hand. More importantly, you have sufficiently discredited yourself, willing to censor at all indicates willing to censor a very significant amount.
aterimperator 3 years ago

It's the same concept with Islam and Chrsitianity.
kag2009 3 years ago
By that logic, we could just as easily say that you are not a true Christian because you don't believe in the same Jesus we believe in. I think we really do believe in the same Jesus, but we have different ideas about His connection with the Father, and whether or not he appeared to more than one group of people. Having different ideas about Him doesn't mean we believe in a "different" Jesus. I hope you can study more of our faith so that you can understand the truth of this church. God bless.
ImHollyGolightly 3 years ago 2
Your "making" a different God. Yes, essentially we are talking about the same person, but you're making Him a different God. When I worship my Jesus, I don't think the same things you do. That's what I'm saying.

"Christ isn't your "christ"."
I can say the same thing about yours.
My Christ who is Jesus is the Savior of the world!
osmiolos 3 years ago
We all have to believe in that Christ that died for us that make resurrection possible for all mankind and that he died for our sins for those who will repent and do good for mankind...
nefipereira 3 years ago
Yes...but there's a lot more to it. My God is one (trinity). My Jesus made it so I don't have to do works to be saved (sorry my Catholic friends). My Jesus is now alive and sits at the right hand of the Father. My Jesus is coming back. My Jesus died for everyone. My Jesus isn't the brother of Satan. My Jesus didn't have to earn God-hood he always was and is God. My Jesus wasn't born when Elohim came to earth and had sex with Mary. There are some BIG differences.
kag2009 3 years ago
In the bible it clearly shows that there are 3 distinct members of the godhead: Jesus Christ, Heavenly Father, and the Holy Ghost (check Matt. 3:16-17) We also believe that Christ is returning in the second coming. We believe that Jesus is the brother of all of us, including Satan, because everyone is a daughter/son of God.

What your saying is that Jesus was not God. Does that mean Jesus was only human? Jesus then could not take up all our sins and the crucifiction would be useless. But from you belief, he would have the potential to be a God, so then that mean the crucifiction is still useless from his only human point and that God is not the only God which contradicts the bible and the meaning of the word "God".
yoursilentfilm 3 years ago
....and John 17:11 (King James Version)
11And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be "one", "as we are".....Here is JESUS praying to HIS FATHER (GOD), and asking for them (his disciples) to be ONE as JESUS THE SON and HIS FATHER (GOD) ARE..Was JESUS asking them to be the same body? NO, he was asking them to be one in mind, in spirit, in pourpose, as HE and his FATHER..
fernandodelamora 3 years ago
So by saying Jesus is a seperate being from God you are implying that the bible is incorrect. I have provided multiple verses that show they are the same. The verses you have provided were for the purpose of the people as to how to connect with God/Jesus. If Jesus is a seperate being, that would discredit any validness for the reason of the crucifiction. Only God can take up all our sins.

None other has had so profound an influence upon all who have lived and will yet live upon the earth."
lds9999 3 years ago
He was the Great Jehovah of the Old Testament, the Messiah of the New. Under the direction of His Father, He was the creator of the earth. "All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made" (John 1:3). Though sinless, He was baptized to fulfill all righteousness. He "went about doing good" (Acts 10:38), yet was despised for it. His gospel was a message of peace and goodwill. He entreated all to follow His example.
lds9999 3 years ago
He walked the roads of Palestine, healing the sick, causing the blind to see, and raising the dead. He taught the truths of eternity, the reality of our premortal existence, the purpose of our life on earth, and the potential for the sons and daughters of God in the life to come.
He instituted the sacrament as a reminder of His great atoning sacrifice. He was arrested and condemned on spurious charges, convicted to satisfy a mob, and sentenced to die on Calvary's cross.
lds9999 3 years ago

Of the Living Christ, the Prophet Joseph wrote: "His eyes were as a flame of fire; the hair of his head was white like the pure snow; his countenance shone above the brightness of the sun;

and his voice was as the sound of the rushing of great waters, even the voice of Jehovah, saying:

We declare in words of solemnity that His priesthood and His Church have been restored upon the earth—
lds9999 3 years ago

(John 10:16)
You wouldn't think he meant "other sheep" as in the others where he was? No where in the bible does it mention he was going to leave and show up in another part of the world to teach God's word.

The Living Christ is simply a statement about what members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints believe about our Savior Jesus Christ. I can't honestly see why you have any objection to a declaration of belief/faith.

That was completely stolen from (Revelations 1:14-18)

Did prophets in ancient times ever use the words of other prophets? Absolutely!
Would it be surprising that Joseph would use descriptions which faithful Christians would be familiar with? Of course not.
And there are some very distinct differences in that description and the one in Revelation.

". I can't honestly see why you have any objection to a declaration of belief/faith."
The problem is that it is misguiding people and is deluting the NT. God states in the bible that that cannot be done and that that is a sin.
yoursilentfilm 3 years ago
Could you give examples how it misguides people or dilutes the New Testament?
Rather, it gives a clear picture of the Jesus Christ, the Savior, in whom I and millions of others believe.
God never stated that you can't share your testimony and beliefs about Christ!
lds9999 3 years ago
Well, it teaches that Jesus is a seperate being from God. Now yes, we have our differences about the interpretation of it but not only that it also teaches that children should not be baptized because they are already pure. The bible teaches that none of us our worthy and that ALL have sinned and that NOBODY is perfect. I agree with mormons that children should not be forced baptized and that they shall wait until they are ready. First they are perfect then theyre sinful because they grow up?
yoursilentfilm 3 years ago
A child is pure and honestly, I believe this is one of the most precious doctrines. Before they reach the age of accountability (set as the age of eight in the Church), they are not baptized. First, because they need to understand the decision. Second, children do not fully understand the commandments set by the Lord. Where there is no understanding or comprehension, there can be no sin.
lds9999 3 years ago
I will have to disagree with your reason for children being baptized. Once again, God says ALL have sinned. From the youngest to the oldest. When is the earliest age that babies learn to lie? They cry and cry for attention, food, cleaning, etc. Eventually they learn that crying will get them what they want and so they will cry simply for attention pretending that they are in pain of some sort. That is lying. That is a sin.
yoursilentfilm 3 years ago
Now the age of 8 is not accurate. I've worked with behavioral ill children and I will tell you that kids at the age of 5 and 6 will become violent. They do it because they don't get what they want and they know what is needed to get what they want but refuse to do it properly. Children can understand basic right and wrongs. Now remember, God is Fair and Just as well as loving. I'm pretty sure he won't condemn a baby for it's faults.
yoursilentfilm 3 years ago
But I also agree with you that it is the child's choice to become baptized and only the child's choice. Some, not all, very young children are smart enough to understand sin and baptizing. He has nothing to do with age.

(Deuteronomy 13:1-3)
"if a prophet, or one who foretells by dreams, appears among you and announces to you a miraculous sign or wonder, and if the sign or wonder of which he has spoken takes place, and he says, "Let us follow other gods" (gods you have not known) "and let us worship them," you must not listen to the words of that prophet or dreamer. The LORD your God is testing you to find out whether you love him with all your heart and with all your soul."

Quoting scripture after scripture after scripture, in which we both believe, does not serve a productive purpose. I don't disagree with scripture, because my testimony is that it is the SAME gospel.

He didn't that accurately.
yoursilentfilm 3 years ago

(Hebrews 1:8)
"But to the Son He says, 'Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom'."
(Revelations 19:10)
"Only worship God."
If Jesus is not God then Jesus is false and we cannot worship him. It does not say "Only worship Gods".

So you think that anyone who believes in Jesus Christ is saved?
Tell me then, if I am not Mormon, but I believe in Christ, am I saved?
ChristianViewer08 3 years ago
you are not saved just because you believe, as it says in the bible "faith without works is dead". for some people when they say to believe in Jesus is to do more than just believe he lived, its to try to live your life the way he did the best you possibly can.

I need this to be answered:
do mormons believe that jesus came to North America and spoke to the indians
rxxbro 3 years ago
The Book of Mormon gives the account of Jesus appearing after His resurrection to those on the American continent.
Know ye not that there are more nations than one? Know ye not that I, the Lord your God, have created all men, and that I remember those who are upon the isles of the sea; and that I rule in the heavens above and in the earth beneath; and I bring forth my word unto the children of men, yea, even upon all the nations of the earth? (2 Ne. 29)
Is it surprising then?
lds9999 3 years ago
rxxbro, i'm going to answer you....We LDS (Mormons)believe that JESUS came to America, not exactly to North America, but to the American Continent, wich is huge,..and yes, HE spoke to the native americans (indians) ancestors, and they wrotte HIS teachings, you can find them in THE BOOK OF MORMON, wich is another TESTAMENT OF JESUSCHRIST, the other is THE BIBLE...does it answer your question?..
fernandodelamora 3 years ago
The bible is a complete book. By saying the book of mormon is an addition, implies that the bible is inaccurate which would then lose any credibility for the bible. There is no prophecy or anything in the bible that says Jesus would leave and appear on the other side of the world or in a different Continent. Genetics disproves your claim that the native americans were from the middle east.
yoursilentfilm 3 years ago
First, we never claim that the Book of Mormon is an "addition" to the Bible. It is a separate book and another witness of Jesus Christ. That does not affect the credibility of the Bible, just as the testimony of John the Revelator does not affect the testimony of Paul.
lds9999 3 years ago

That's not considered an addition? Your adding a
