I want to add one more post.. W2G stands for way to go! I am sure that you have been asked with this question before. Have you ever been pulled over by police officer and thought you were "playing around"? I can image very well that you enjoyed watching people's public recreation every time their jaws DROPPED! In fact, I loved that you put "awesome" in your tag. HAHAHA!
@8588cee The only reason I've ever been pulled over was for speeding. Yes, the cop was surprised, but said, "Good for you for driving at all" when he sent me away with my ticket, lol. I really don't enjoy seeing people's "jaws drop." I'd much rather blend in whenever possible. I use YouTube and my website to allow people glimpses into my life I'd normally feel awkward sharing. If I'm purposely putting it out there, I feel more like I'm promoting awareness, and less like a freak show. :)
Wow! I went through random searches for funny videos. I just happen to see this random title "driving with feet", I was wondering if it was a sick joke or not... But as soon I saw your video, my jaw dropped! Seriously, I loved this video and was in awe that you didn't show any barriers with your condition. I have hearing loss and people would think lowly of me. I do not allow that to stop me. I search for other ways around to prove them wrong. Deaf people can do anything, except to hear! W2G!
@24porschefanatic I took my driving test driving just like this and the officer passed me on the first attempt. I have been in one wreck and it was the fault of the other driver. Believe me, I am a safer driver than many others on the road... I have something to prove by being safe.
@24porschefanatic Well, I sure can't do everything, and many of the things I can do took me years to figure out (I buttoned my own pants without assistance around age 10), but thank the Lord I've got the important stuff down. :)
This is phenomenal. Goes to show that "disabled" people can do a lot for themselves. But tell me, how would you cope with a three control pedals car ( aka Manual transmission)?Would you say it` more difficult?
@bareseautentico I did attempt to drive a manual once... I felt like I needed a couple more appendages. :) I can't do it... plus, my license has restrictions and it's actually illegal for me.
you are not the first, there are others like you. i am proud of you making this video to educate others that handicapped people are still able to do many things! i am deaf, and i have had many people ask me, "can you drive?".. even a police officer had to dispatch someone to ask if a deaf person can drive. crazy! again, thanks and great job!
@videowatcher2k8 Thank you. As to whether it's smart... You're welcome to your opinion, but I've been driving for 12 years now, and I've never caused an accident. The police officer who tested me for my license deemed me a safe driver and passed me with a 90% on my first attempt. I have an great driving record, and I certainly wouldn't be endangering my child's life if I wasn't just as capable as everyone else on the road. I know my limits, but I don't believe this is one of them. :)
@videowatcher2k8 Ha! Well, I don't YouTube things I'm not so great at. :) Obviously, I can't reach high things or lift heavy things. I can only hold my son for about 30 seconds straight. I can't put my hair in a pony tail. I can't give big hugs or hold my son's hands tight. Those "personal interaction" things are the hardest to deal with. I can make it through life without doing my hair how I'd like. It's hard not being able to hug how I'd like.
@ScreamingInDigital0 No, I got my driver's license driving just like this (a 90% on my first attempt). I am restricted to only driving vehicles with electric turn signals and power steering, though. :)
@coolchrisg420 Pretty sure if they charged me more, that would be discrimination. But I have to say, I have a darn good driving record, thank you very much. ;-)
Very nice. I know several other people who drive very competently with their feet using no modification of vehicle, They may choose vehicle to be easy for them but are as safe as anyone else and at least they do not try to text while driving.
@halmitchell I will admit, I have been known to text and drive on a rare occasion. It's not that hard if the phone's mounted on the dash, and it's super easy if you have Vlingo or some other dictation app. I do it VERY rarely now that I have a baby on board, though. If it's that important, I'll just call and put it on speaker.
@V1993ful Haha, not anymore dangerous than anyone else on the road! I've been driving for 10+ years, and the only wreck I've been in was the other driver's fault. I passed my driver's test with a 90% on the first attempt.
He is wonderful. He will be two this August! He keeps us busy, that's for sure. He is very talkative and is learning how to climb in and out of the carseat by himself. Such a big boy. :) I'm in love.
@hawnkblade It affects all of your joints. It means 'stiff joints' basically. Try googling it. It's all over the internet. Some people can't walk, some can't bend or straighten their legs, some have hand deformities. But generally people with arthrogryposis have above average intelligence.
Hi my name is Michelle and my son was born with AMC. Your video is so inspiring to us! Like you, my son Devin uses his feet for most things. Currently he is 6 years old and as a parent it would be great to see how you do more things with your feet. Thanks for posting your videos.
This is just so awesome and a little scary too.
