what happened was when the 90s hit people got SCARED literally to sing anything sensitive. Because it was not seen as "cool" whats not cool is being scared to express yourself, being able to express yourself, be it a sensitive song or whatever, is cooler than just going with the flow like a bunch of wild moose walking across the serengeti.

what about all these "emo" weirdos? the media gave the reins to their defective offspring who wanted younger but talentless people to make music. that is the reason music tanked. there was tons of good adult contemporary up to the late 1990s but it wasn't being played so newer but talentless people could be heard instead.
