  • Milton Friedman videos are soooo addictive!

  • thanks for the great uploads. i subed

  • idiot ... it was technology. This cretin is a moron.

  • @mba2ceo Well, it was technology from mostly private businesses that helped farms become more efficient.

  • @cesar333 NOT TRUE ... GOVT funded UNIVERSITIES !!!

  • @mba2ceo Your punctuation is off. It should read:

    "NOT TRUE: GOVT funded UNIVERSITIES!!!"

The notion that government and universities are the primary drivers of technological research and advancement is a long discredited myth. In OECD countries as a group, 2/3 of R&D is privately funded. In the US, the figure is closer to 80% and its even higher in non-defense industries.

  • I really believe that what made America the best country in the world is that most people were free and moral people that believed in God. We are rapidly losing that type of American and are being replaced with brainwashed liberal-minded people that think that "anything goes". We turn back toward God or we are finished as a FREE country. Freedom cannot work if the people are not a moral people. I said "moral" not perfect.

  • What makes America the best country in the World and why we have the best form of Government in the World. Is because of our Freedom and our Constitution that protects our Freedom.

  • Does anyone notice we live in a paradox? Whenever the gov't messes up, society complains that the gov't is useless and wastes our tax $. Whenever there is a problem, society demands the gov't should intervene as if they know everything.

    Ridiculous!

  • America is exceptional because of its freedom & its people.

  • total BS! only reason is that there was cheap oil and a "green revolution"!

  • yeah, look how poorly china is doing!!

  • Obama sucks.

  • well put

  • Could not disagree more. It was the system--individual liberty--that attracted desirable folks who wanted only a chance to work hard. The miracle of America is the environment of freedom that allows achievement.

  • Great clip! Friedman couldn't had made his point any clearer. Great wisdom!

  • Thanks LibertyPen! I really learn a lot from these videos and hope we are all, like you, sharing what we learn with at least one other person.

  • Thank you for these videos. LibertyPen is among my favorite youtube channels!

  • @5amuu What are other favorite channels related to Liberty?

  • America is not exceptional, freedom is.

  • i agree, but america is exceptional because it allows economic freedom to exist and not be severely curtailed. not saying America is better than everyone else, but it is exceptional in that it is the exception to the rule which is that most people do not have the kind of economic freedoms and opportunities that Americans do.

  • @ferrozm

America is exceptional because its the "exception" to the rule. Tyranny and oppression.

You need to learn the definition of the word "exceptional"

  • @girzwald3 The president of the US can assassinate american citizens without due process, The president can launch wars unilaterally, the president can destroy habeaus corpus, the govt can steal your money with threat of force. and you say the US is not tyrannical and oppressive?!

  • @ferrozm

Go live in china. Then tell me America is oppressive. You fucking twit.

  • @ferrozm First off, who did the president assassinate lately? Second, without due process? Can you assassinate someone WITH due process?

You're right about them stealing money with threat of force, but every government does that so it's a given.

  • I love this guy.

  • 1:20 - is that Alan Greenspan in the front row?

  • No. It's his cousin, Bob.

  • is there anywhere where i can get this entier speech?

  • It's from his series of telivised broadcasts.. called Free to Choose I think

  • When did Milton Friedman make this speech? This is good information.

  • 1978 at the University of Chicago. As Milton so often illustrates, wisdom is timeless.
