The notion that government and universities are the primary drivers of technological research and advancement is a long discredited myth. In OECD countries as a group, 2/3 of R&D is privately funded. In the US, the figure is closer to 80% and its even higher in non-defense industries.

I really believe that what made America the best country in the world is that most people were free and moral people that believed in God. We are rapidly losing that type of American and are being replaced with brainwashed liberal-minded people that think that "anything goes". We turn back toward God or we are finished as a FREE country. Freedom cannot work if the people are not a moral people. I said "moral" not perfect.

The US was initially populated (apart from the slaves) by immigrants. At that time emigration was difficult so it happened that only resourceful people could get to the US. Being resourceful they were creative and created the agricultural miracle described.

But, now through breeding and further easy immigration that effect has gone and the US is becoming just like any other country. It wasnt the system it was the filtration of the people.

i agree, but america is exceptional because it allows economic freedom to exist and not be severely curtailed. not saying America is better than everyone else, but it is exceptional in that it is the exception to the rule which is that most people do not have the kind of economic freedoms and opportunities that Americans do.
