  • 9 people probably don't know God

  • @SimpleDanForever Amen!

  • @tsunamiTD - go play in traffic you worthless fuck.

  • This is Sting's best song ever. Even better than "Every Breath You Take"

  • This is my husband's and my youth together when he was working on granfields farm. Loved those carefree days in those golden fields of wheat and hay.

  • I heard this song in the hospital when I was there because I was suicidal. It was the most internally touching moment of my life. This song is my freedom song.

  • I think this song speaks to all loves lost, hoped for but never realized, to that empty place that aches to be loved, believed. Yes, God is in this somewhere.

  • I wish I had a bigger penis

  • @IngloriousBear I wish mine could be stored inside my body until I needed it. That'd be so much less of a hastle.

  • This song brings back many good memories :|

  • oh my goodness, I remember this! it brings back so many feelings

  • My fav song. This song is amazing

  • Hmmm, I'm glad I finally got to see the lyrics.

There was always something very melancholy about this song when I heard it in the past. One of those, "I'm not certain if this is a love song or a sad song". It could be one of many things, and it seems this songs weighs heavy on personal interpretation as opposed to flat-out "this is what is going on".

I'm not certain if I like it, but it does have a very clever rhythmic pattern and plays with strong emotional areas in most people's lives...

  • That song makes me remember of my father he used to listen to it very often

  • This song is quite special to me.. This was played when my mother died. for her funeral. I miss and love her so much. <3

  • This

  • i love this damm song thnx to sting for this song :) <3

  • God speaks through this song

  • @TsunamiTD while I too do not understand the necessity of religion in the appreciation of the song, I find you comment quite uncalled for, and frankly, it makes you sound uneducated, rude, and lacking vocabulary, though some would place uneducated and lacking of vocabulary into the same category, I feel it makes a point to mention, similar to the point you felt you were making by stating faggot twice, both times without cause, and carrying different connotations. in short, just shut up. period.

  • @SimpleDanForever I'm a bit sceptic about the existence of God but I have to agree with you :))

  • Finally one with good quality :)

  • Beautiful!

  • This is one of the BEST non-rock driving songs there are. The last couple times I played it past midnight driving home, I damn near fell asleep because I was so wrapped up in it. It's like my 'calm' song. So good. Thanks for posting.

  • I'm glad that you like this song, and that it wakes beautiful memories in you people! :)

  • my nan loved this song i love my nan r.i.p this song makes me cry

  • This reminds me of the fields off Coach Lane near my childhood home in Fairways Estate, Newcastle, and it was at Northern Counties College on the same Coach Lane that Sting studied to be a teacher. I understand he wrote it about land surrounding his mansion in the South of England but I'm sure he would also like it to apply to this area from his youth.

  • maybe they reach you.

  • I have such a soft spot for songs that create a powerful sense of nostalgia. This is right up there for me with In You Eyes by Peter Gabriel, and The Boys Of Summer by Don Henley.

  • This dream of a song painted my fertile imagination as a child like summer winds painting the shores with waves. See?

  • I get chills every time I listen to this song.. I'm only 17 but this song is easily one of my favorites..

  • This is a real beautiful song, <3 it

    real good quality 5*

  • My high school jazz choir sang this song last year, and I think it really touched us all. I know I'll remember it forever, and I wasn't even in the choir that sang it. I was just listening and it touched my heart. One of the most beautiful songs ever written.

  • This song helps me remember special moments during childhood when all I would do was write and talk to my Spirit Guide. I would just sit by myself and feel happy and knew that I would never be left alone.

  • sometimes they play this song in the big shopping malls and stores.

and then its always me standing between skinny trousers and neon shirts getting tears in my eyes and starting to cry.

That has to look quite silly but I can't help it. For me, Fields of Gold is just one of the most awesomely touching songs.

  • You're not alone. Have you heard the

    Eva Cassidy version?

  • yeah, ideed I heard it before. my simple english vocabulary is hardly able to express how cassidys version went straight to my heart and soul when I first heard it. its so full of passion and beauty! I love her so much for her interpretation. r.i.p, eva.

  • English is gut.

  • @weirdOparade: I'm right there with you..they also play it at Starbucks a lot..and it reminds me of my teenage years with all my friends and being together from dawn to dusk and it just brings tears to my eyes

  • @weirdOparade what does the song me

  • @weirdOparade There are about 4 songs on the Fields of Gold (Best of CD) that do this to me, so I know exactly what you mean. I feel like a big cry baby, but the songs are just THAT well written and the music, just that moving. Glad to know I'm not the only one! :)

  • @weirdOparade LOL

  • @weirdOparade its the most beautiful song i have ever heard and i listen to it all the time, and i still cry when i hear it. its just one of those songs that touches you deeply.

  • @weirdOparade i first heard this song as a kid and i felt the same way

  • Everytime I listen to this song, my mind has drifted to Hyannis Port, Massachusetts, where U.S. President John F. Kennedy has spent his summers in Hyannis during the early 1960s.
