Look back at Clausen in college. His freshman and sophomore year he was awful then in his junior year he did better but still he was nothing special. And besides that did Clausen, or Brady Quinn for that matter, ever beat a top 10 ranked team in their college careers? No. Neither one of them ever beat USC when they played them and whenever they played a big time team in a bowl game they didnt win in that either. All of Clausens nice stats came against garbage teams he never proved anything

Mel Kiper was sucking this guys dick leading all the way up to the draft saying oh hes going to be a franchise QB hes going to win super bowls and a whole bunch of other crap and look at him now hes carolinas water boy. As long as Newton is in Carolina clausen will never see the field. Brady Quinn and Jimmy Clausen have so much in common, they both were supposed to be so good yet they suck on the pro level and can never be full time starters

Thanks for uploading the vid, this makes it tons easier trying to study how he plays. Okay guys, I understand the guy had an ego, but that's no reason to assume his college immaturity will forever stop him from becoming successful in the NFL. Based on how well Matt Moore finished off Carolina's season, he will most likely have plenty of time to improve as a football player on and off the field.

nobody respected NDs run game, this entire video is the opposing teams defensive line getting pressure on NDs offensive line with 3 and 4 guys. Clausen was throwing against 7 and 8 man coverage all but 2 or 3 plays in this entire highlight. Thats amazing accuracy.

Well its not like Clausen is coming in to fill the shoes of an Elway or Marino or farve hell isnt even filling the shoes of a mcnabb or rivers. he is coming into a system he has run for 3 years and The panthers have all the needed ingredients for a rookie QB to shine. Offensive line , #1 WR , and two dominating RBS. Filling delhommes shoes will be easy. best of luck to this kid. If he never sees the field this year it means good knews for the panthers. as soon as Moore struggles hes gone.

jimmy clausen is easily the steal of the draft, i can see him having a matt ryan impact, he doesn't have too much pressure, since he's going to a good team and he doens't have to try and carry the team, he has a good o-line, two star running backs, and a top receiver in carolina, play action galore this year

@stylicho well John Elway played for Stanford, hardly a football powerhouse while Clausen played for Notre Dame, one of the top football powerhouses that have had some of the best recruiting classes in recent years.

Yet in 2009 with Clausen as the QB they lost to UConn, Stanford and Navy. Also, its pretty well known that Clausen wasn't really popular in the ND locker room.

@xuimod A football powerhouse normally but not recently. Notre Dame had a 2.1 yards per carry Clausen's freshman year. Do you know how bad that is? I think Oklahoma had a 4.6 yards per carry Bradford's freshman year.

He reminds me of Brett Favre. There are times I see in here that he just chucks it up before he gets sacked, regardless of coverage, and I always think he'll get intercepted. I don't know how much is the receiver play, or a good throw, but it looks like the receivers make great plays as well.

I'm amazed by his ability to throw accurately on the run. Reminds me a bit of Donovan McNabb in that aspect. His footwork and accuracy is stellar. Maybe he isn't the next Brady Quinn. Buffalo might be lucky yo have him at #9...........if they dedicate the rest of their draft to offensive lineman

The entire video maybe two times Clausen was blitzed. Which means teams did not respect NDs ability to run the football or pass protect. All the pressure on Clausen in this video is from 3 and 4 man rushes, seriously, look at every single play and see that teams played the pass against ND and HE STILL put up great numbers. Imagine what NDs record is with an average QB, they win two games at the most if they are lucky. Clausen had to be a playmaker for ND, attack vertically, hes a franchise QB.

That being said, I still have questions about Jimmy's deep ball. Too many times have I seen it fade towards the receiver. Regardless though, I think he'll be a fine pro. I'm still torn between him and Bradford, but I definitely think that Clausen will make the more immediate impact due to his familiarity with taking snaps under center. Call me an optimist, but I see Pro Bowls for both of them given proper nurture.

That USC game is a testament to what Clausen can do. It showed off some weak points for him (a couple of less than desirable balls thrown), but for the most part he was good with his accuracy, which is really something in the situation he was in. No Floyd, the line had a debacle (notice how many times the protection being blown is mentioned), and he had the toe injury at this point. He led an inept team to within seven against a top 25 team (which USC is perennially).

The franchise QB is the vocal point, you nab one as soon as you like one. You still have time to build the line, especially in the Redskins case when it's looking like they're going to hang onto Campbell for at least next year. This just all goes towards not starting your franchise quarterback early. Good development is important. Plus with no Okung on the board (he's going to the Lions), there really isn't a left tackle worth taking above Bradford or Clausen.

Charlie definitely push him to watch Tom Brady's mechanics because you can see it in Clausen's dropback and throwing motion, all mimics what Brady does and he has it about 90% accurate.

Clausen will more than likely go to Rams, but if I were Cleaveland though I would trade up for him because I'm sure spags would like be happy with Suh and extra picks.
