problem with trying to use non-newtonians is they dont abosb much kinetic force they just become solid when a force is applied. So the wearer will still take the full force of the impact spread around the area where the non-newtonian solidifed. problem comes to the impact energy is not spread to a wide enough surface area with non-newtonians and focused impact will still easily penatrate it with little resistence. Not to mention the stuff will shatter like a glass if enough force is applied.
