Tim Thomas is the most underachieving NBA there is. Never reached anywhere near his potential. I played against him in hs. I played against him in aau. I'm from New Yawk.

The size he is now, is damn near the same size he was then. He has a feathery outside touch, he can handle the ball, he's strong, athletic, and he can jump. He should've made atleast 3 all-star games. He underachieved big time.

Absolutely, Thomas has wasted a ton of talent over the years. When he's motivated (whether it be the playoffs, a contract year, etc.), we've seen what he can do -- the '06 playoffs being the best example, but also the playoffs for the Bucks early in his career. He can be a great player when he wants to be one.

At the same time, it's hard to reconcile those performances with the lazy ones he'll give you during the regular season after he's gotten his big contract, or his lack of defensive focus, or his poor conditioning habits. Hell, the Bulls paid him to go away in '06 because he was lazy, out of shape, and they didn't want him being a bad locker-room influence.

Simply put, he's infuriating. Somebody with his skills and physical tools should have been an all-time great (Ray Allen said, "Tim Thomas could be the best player in the NBA if he wanted to"), and instead he's an NBA journeyman who coasts on talent and only shows up when he wants to.
