Do you have any more from The Letterman show? My husband & I were at this taping! It was amazing & so healing! It was almost 1yr. after 9/11. Love this album!
@towser06 You should be so lucky to write a Grammy nominated tune and have millions of fans that await your next album as though it is Christmas. I went to your site. It was to say the least underwhelming. Why did you even check out this video. You had to know what the song was before you came. You just wanted to start a shit storm. I'm sorry I wasted as much time as I did on this. Have a nice career.
@victorli2000 What--Do you win something if you play more? Whatever E-Street plays--it might one day work out for them......... Now if you want to give Nils the props as a most underrated player--I'm good with that.
you get old or whatever...you get writers block...nothin comes...you need a 9 11 day to get the creative juices flowing again...Bruce hit a stone wall from about '95 to '01 as far as writing goes....i still listen to the Rising..but i cant listen to it and think about what life was like in the days after that tuesday morning....the songs, for me, have taken on different meanings as the years roll by...it's no longer about the loss of that day...it's the loss we live with each and every day
Nils almost appears like an afterthought; almost like Springsteen and the rest ignore or even resent his presence. I can't understand it; but in a whole lot of videos in the last 1o years, Nils, who is 10x the guitarist as Steve is left in the back and more and more playing acoustic guitar when the others are electric. What is that all ABOUT??!
Ya-RIGHT! You must be Patty Scialfa or Bruce's mom. I'm done trying to convince youto the facts of life. Actually you're becoming more boring than Bruce's last 5 records. Actually, I like little Steve's solo output better than Bruce's. No lie.
@RubHerSoul1@kobe9985 Kobe is right man. I'm 23 but I can say that at most of his concerts there are thousands of people that are far younger than I am. Bruce is the best!
@Flarfje Ok. Whatever. I take it all back. Bruce is God. Changed the whole face of Rock music ten times over. No one can match his stunning hit making prowess, etc etc. I'm gonna throw all my other records away and join the Bruce commune and listen to nothing else. And I'm sure all the kids on my block will be lined up to join because Bruce really speaks to the younger generation.
u have a problem if u dont like bruces music. Im not saying that because someone before me said it im sayin it because so many of my friends dont like it
why do people insist on comparing everything to the beatles? yes, they were popular, very popular, so were the eagles and nsync... .Dylan and Bruce changed american music forever...and not just pop music
@northmind Ah, No. You're mistaken. I 'm sure you're an avid Springsteen fan, and he does command a lot of respect, well earned i might add too. But he ain't quite in that top tier echelon as The Beatles and the Stones or Dylan. Even in the 70's, when he was like a supernova, he still didn't have the songwriting versatility or critical mass that they had and still have. But I will say, that as a live performer, he almost matches James Brown. Pretty damn good for a white guy too.
@thunderoad005 What? Springsteen's output after Nebraska? I agree. A load of shit. Except for maybe Murder Inc and Radio Nowhere. Hey, keep groovin' to the ghost of Tom Joad, King of all Rock fans. Someday, you'll discover Tom Waits and see who the real deal is.
@RubHerSoul1 Not on the top tier????? The man is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He has also been inducted into the Song Writers Hall of Fame. Bruce not to mention has... 20 Grammy Awards, 2 Golden Globe Awards and an OSCAR among many other accomplishments. With over 120million albums sold. Not top tier with who you mentioned? Yeah, load of shit hits it right on the head.
@kobe9985 Who cares? Michael jackson sold the most records and won a ton of awards and acclaim and blah blah blah. He was great at one point too, but not better than the Beatles or the Stones, or even Bruce for that matter. It's not a popularity contest, son. If it were, The Beatles would make Bruce look like an American Idol winner. The Beatles were and still 40 years later a cultural phenomenon. No other act of the 20th century can match their output (only 7 years ) of sonic brilliance
@RubHerSoul1 The Beatles as a band are FINISHED. You are comparing the whole Beatles band to one man in Bruce Springsteen. Go member for member, one on one and compare them. Bruce has surpassed all of them as a single muscian. Beatles are history and are gone, get over it. Bruce is still writing and making music people still buy, young or old people. Remember, you are not stating FACT. It's your opinion like mine. I'm not your son pal, more like you're Daddy.
@RubHerSoul1 "He was great at one point too, but not better than the Beatles or the Stones, or even Bruce for that matter."
Right, and the Beatles were once great too as well but no more, only in the history books. Bruce however is still around with his fans ranging from all ages more than any other old school artist.
@kobe9985 Wrong again. Bruce has not garnered any new and young fans since the eighties. The Beatles, Zeppelin, The Stones, and even Pink Floyd have been gone for ages and still get new fans every day. Show me a kid under 25 who is a Bruce fanatic. Just one.
@RubHerSoul1 You are ridiculous. Ever been to a Bruce Springsteen concert recently? He has the most diverse fans in the world. I know this and witnessed this 22 times at his concerts. Just look at all these threads. Thousands of young kids are Bruce fans, open you're eye's man and read. All those bands you mentioned are history. Find a kid that likes the Beatles, good luck. Bruce is longevity. You can argue till the cows come home. Done with this thread. You are the one who is wrong, son.
@kobe9985 Funny how back in '95 when Bruce put out a new record, it got it's ass kicked by The Beatles' Anthology, which was music that was 30 years old at the time. Oh, and BTW, it was being bought by kids under 25 more than the adults. They polled it. Ya think Bruce got into rock music from listening to Peter Paul and Mary? I'd say it was the Beatles and the Stones, "son". Get real!
@RubHerSoul1 "Show me a kid under 25 who is a Bruce fanatic. Just one." Thats your quote ASSHOLE! You have had more then one tell you they are under 25. DO EVERYONE A FAVOR SON AND SHUT THE FUCK UP WITH YOUR BULLSHIT NONSENSE!!!! YOU LOSE "SON" BY YOUR OWN REQUEST. Now it's official. Don't make up any BULLSHIT excuses as I see you always do come up with some kind of BULLSHIT. You put out a dumbass challange & lost. I love all classic rock & Bruce is "top Tier" wheather U like it or not.
@RubHerSoul1 Bruce Springsteen is my favorite musician of all time. When you write with the kind of poetic eloquence Bruce does, age makes no difference. His last few albums have competed with any he's made previously, even Darkness or BTR. As a performer, he's unmatched, and a lyricist he's in the company of the elite, such as Lennon and Dylan. and by the way , I'm a Junior in highschool. I'm 16 and have plenty of friends who feel the same way I do. So about him not attracting young fans? fail.
@pezdel1 Ha. Kid, you ain't old enough to remember when Bruce was "BRUCE". And you ain't heard shit for music if you think that this is the best it gets. When I was your age I had every great rock, soul, jazz and blues record I could get my hands on. Try listening to Tom Waits if you dare. Bruce did. BTW, what high school has a high quotient of Bruce fans today? Back in my day there was, but I highly doubt it now. Quit lying.
@RubHerSoul1 My age hinders me in no way from recognizing undeniable talent. So don't tell me I don't know music because I'm young. Believe me, I do. I've listened to every one of his records more than once, and I've listened to all the other greats of the era too. Just because modern culture doesn't introduce kids to the legends doesn't mean they don't like it when they DO listen to them. And tell me, what's a musical genius of your caliber (and age) doing making an ass of himself on Youtube?
@RubHerSoul1I am 21 and a "Bruce Fanatic"Once you have been to one of his concerts where he rocks the crowd for 3 solid hours with his songs that go out to the hearts and souls of all his fans,(he also wrote the songs, I may add)The man is a genius and for you to deny such a thing is ludicrous. I am also not the only one under 25 I see at his concerts.
I think you need to think before opening your stupid mouth. I will give you your due on The Rolling Stones, but their history. The Boss lives on.
@gemimapoo Who the fuck cares? So you love Bruce. Fine. Is that supposed to change something? So now there are 3 Bruce fans under the age of 25. Do me a favor. Call me when the shuttle lands.
@gemimapoo Thank you. But I already listen to The Beatles, Stones, Who, Miles Davis and Tom Waits (the guy Bruce wishes he could be). BTW, he's the guy who wrote Jersey Girl. I hate to knock Bruce cuz I'm still a fan of his first 7 or 8 records, but you dolts thinking he's the 2nd coming are really narrow minded. It's you who i'm attacking not him. Gotta go. I hear my life calling.
@RubHerSoul1 Tom Waits wrote jersey girl, who the fuck does not know that? You? Bruce is his own man. Why you continue to put tom dick and hairy in front of him is ridiculous. Where the hell are the Stones???? Last record they put out SUCKED! When was the last time Miles Davis put an album out? The who? Whos the who? Only two members left from The Who son. When was the last time the who came out with a record? I have all the albums from all the artists you mentioned. We can agree to disagree no?
@kobe9985 OK. I'll agree to disagree. But the last Stones record was great (as it well should be if they want to remain valid. But you won't find me giving praise to much of their output in the past 25 years, because it wasn't that great. That's what I'm trying to point out to all you Springsteen junkies. that his output in the last 15 years or so doesn't match what he did in the first 15 years of his career. And all the other groups I mentioned are still greater than BS will ever be!
@RubHe I disagree with you. I thought the last stones record was garbage What did it sell, two records?. Even my best friend who is 74 years old, agrees Bruce is better then the stones in this late age he's in. He's been a stones fan since they came out in the real world. He saw Bruce in concert and completely forgot about the stones. He still loves the stones but he says nothing beats the BOSS. It's FANTASTIC, you think all those bands are greater then the E-STREET BAND & BRUCE! Good for U!!!
@kobe9985 You're missing the point my friend. No one and I mean NO ONE cares if you're the biggest Bruce Springsteen fan or if I'm the biggest Captain and Tennille fan (which I certainly am not!) If you love Bruce that much and his music turns you on like Miles Davis and the Stones and the Beatles do for me, then that's you're perogative. But enough of this my hero is greater than yours shit. This ain't sports. It's not a competition or about numbers. He's great, but not THAT great. Sorry
@RubHerSoul1 Don't even compare the latest stones album to THE RISING or MAGIC. Give some credit man. Bruce KICKS the stones ass in this day in age weather U think so or not. MAGIC? THE RISING? PISSES on any NEW stones album. PISSES!!!!ON THEM. IT'S PROVEN. To each there own. Old Bruce? Geetings From Asbury Park? The Etrseet Shuffle? BORN TO RUN? BORN IN THE USA? NEBRASKA? The new... The Ghost of Tom Joad? The Rising? Magic? The man is 60 and still sells millions of records in this day in age.
@RubHerSo You my friend are just a "stones, beetles, junkie." I've been around a long time and BRUCE PISSES on the stones as far as anything! He writes all his own music. Bruce pisses on jaggar as far as a muscian goes. BRUCE= lead guaitar player, harmonic player, piano player, lead songwriter.(Bruce in the Song Writers Hall Of Fame) Jaggar? NO hes not. Like I said.Magic, THE RISING pisses on anything the stones or miles davis or THE WHO have EVERY come out with in the last 20 years bar none.
@RubHerSoul1 You are just some TROLL under the bridge my FAGGOT. I can't help you from your beating I see you get from everyone here you TROLL. If I ever saw you in person I would be glade to stick my size 14 BOOT UP your ass with pleasure you TROLL. You are just a maggot my LOSER friend that you are. @RubHerSoul1 You are some FAG that should move to the UK my son. nobody here could give a shit if you died as you jumped off a bridge YOU TROLL. Stay the FUCK off Bruce Springsteen's vidoes and get a fucking life pal. Pual is a shity guitar player as well as everyone else on the beetles. They all suck and are overrated. George Harrison? Sucks as a guitar player compared to Bruce U moron. WAKE THE FUCK UP. Nils on Estreet Band SHITS on any beetles player you TROLL.
@RubHerSoul1@RubHerSoul1 Also my address is 81 Mount Herman Rd. Blairstown NJ 07825 and I would be happy to meet you & STICK MY SIZE 14 BOOT UP YOUR ASS. Come on down you faggot. I will pay for your trip so I can BEAT some sense into you, you TROLL.
@Aardvarked88 Yeah, I lost my cool after seeing that morons message in my personal yahoo email box for the 20th time. I don't give a flying sh+t as to what anyone on YOUTUBE thinks of Bruce anymore, or anyone else for that matter. Really a true waste of time.
@kobe9985 trashing on other artists isn't really in the spirit of Bruce Springsteen's music, especially since Bruce himself has a ton of respect for every artist you mentioned. The first song he learned to play on guitar was a Beatles song for Christ's sake. RubHerSoul1 is a huge dick, agreed, but you're not much better.
@wonderwall4355 Like I said to the last guy. I like the beetles. to say Bruce is "not top tier" is where it all began. TO EACH THEIR OWN PERIOD THE END. Rubhursoul1 thinks Bruce is not "top Tier" God Bless with your opinion. PEACE! Also if rubhrsoul1 still likes a size 14 let me know. AHhahahaahah
@RubHerSoul1 So sad to see someone think that Bruce, the Boss, one of the best artist ever, no longer has fans... Oh and, I know it's hard to admit that you're wrong, but since all these people here seem to want to kick your ass, I think it's time you faced the truth and admitted that Bruce Springsteen is actually as good as these people here say.
I bet the studio walls were about to give in during this performance. BS only has one gear when the amps are on (and only one as well for the quieter songs) just a great show
There's no accounting for taste. Calm down people, there's room for Dylan, Springsteen and Neil in this room. Anyway, great song and thanks for posting.
I also don't see the musical connection between the Boss and the Great Neil Young. I'm just glad they and Dylan are all still out there burning bright playing as strong as ever. Main difference i see is the boss plays for the masses, Young and Dylan seem to play solely for their own satisfaction while incidentally the crowd love and respect. Long may all 3 of them run.
Springsteen looks up to Neil Young, he probably wanted to sound like him. They have done shows together too so its not like they are rivals or anything.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
haha, you need to lay off the drugs. Dylan is the reason springsteen picked up a harmonica and started writing songs. As for not sounding like DYLAN, you probably have't seen or heard springsteen in concert lately. Dylan ownes, and as good as springsteen is he's only a sub for DYLAN!!!!!!!
I´ve seen Springsteen live 10 times since 1999 (last time was this year in June) and I know that Dylan was one of Springsteens role models, but Springsteen has grown since then, and he became better and bigger than Dylan ever will be.
Are you kidding right? How can you say that? If you ask to the boss who is the best between him and Dylan , he won't say himself for sure...dylan and the beatles were the starts of Music as we know it...Do you really believe that without "Blonde on Blonde" or "Highway 61" albums like born to run would be produced?
@matita123 I´m ot denying that Bob Dylan was a great influence to Bruce, and of course Bruce wont say that he´s better than Dylan or any other artist, he dont consider himself superior even though his fans know he is! But when it comes to songwriting and most important of all Live performances Bruce is better than Bob Dylan without a doubt and the so called "apprentice" has outgrown his "master" years ago.
For the songwriting you can't say that...the lyrics that bob dylan wrote change the story...songs like "The time's they are a-changing are something more than songs....We're agree about the gigs...nobody is better than The Boss...just like nobody is better than Dylan about songwriting...
i dont know. i agree certainly that dylan is more influential, but i think thats as much to do with being in the right place at the right time as anything else. But bruce's songwriting just does evokes something, does something to me that no other songwriter can achieve. maybe its just me, but i think the boss is unparalleled. plus, for every great dylan song there is a rubbish dylan song. bruce, say what you will, is effortlessly consistent.
For what it's worth I pretty much agree with you. Bruce has at the very least equaled Dylan and when one considers the sheer volume of quality, quality songs Bruce has penned vs Dylan it only emphasizes the point
It has never been a matter of whether without this or that what would or would not have come up later. Just look at the work. I know of no other artist who could possibly say that he did Born to Run, Nebraska, Born In The USA and Tunnel of Love. Listen to them. It's the same guy all the time. Dylan is a myth for me, an awsome legend, I love him deeply. But there's only one boss.
In terms of changing rock & roll from kids music, a passing fad, into serious adult art, no one, except the Beatles, has been more important and influencial than Dylan - and Springsteen knows it. He is a great admiror of Dylan and recognizes the debt he, and every other rocker owes Bob.
However, I can only assume you have never seen either in concert. No one, *NO ONE* is better live than Bruce, who also has passed Dylan as a writer of that serious adult art for which Bob blazed the trail.
911 was a horrible day. We need a real investigation on 911. You tube WTC 7 COLLAPSE, it only takes 1 minute. It looks exactly like a controlled demolition. Also there were many reporters reporting explosions inside the buildings. 19 Arabs with boxcutters? Oh please! No steel stuctured building has ever in history collapsed due to fire until 911.I dont believe the goverments story. You tube WTC 7 collapse NOW!
Dont get me wrong i love neil young ...but when he sells as many records as bruce ....then talk ...dont hate ...thats why america is so screwed up ....if you dont like it ...just walk away ...its called freedom of choice ...peace
He wrote(sang) this song in the wake of 9/11 to reach the people who needed a so call lift, hope, and it fits today with whats going on in the world... and musicians often tell it thru there music, join our brothers and neighbors and come on up for the rising.....
You said it my Brother!!! To say McCain is a douche-bag is an insult to douche-bags! Besides that, all things beng equal, eben my own mother, a registered Republican said to me just last night, "McCain could die in 2 years for all we know, and we're going to trust Sarah Palin to run this country?!" Enough said, right? LOL Peace man :) -Dave
McCain isn't a horrible man (No comment on Palin) It is true that this campaign has turned him into everything he once hated. But just try to just remember the old McCain. Obama 08
Borntorun1970: You contradict yourself with hypocrisy when you post "Peace" immediately after calling someone a juvenile name. If you wanted peace you would keep it positive. Promoting the strengths of your candidate doesn't require going negative on your opponent. Peace is achieved by respectfully disagreeing with the opposition. Moreover, you're in no position to cast insults at a man who's given so much to this nation.
DIGITAL SOURCE, Sorry, I'm just a discharged GI -- a VFW -- with an MBA and the ability to post a pensive and articulate comment. That's a quality, Mr. Digital, that GWB does not possess, so shame on you for making the association.
I was there at this show. Mike Myers was the first guest. I was in the balcony with my little brother and we all got a chill when Bruce did this song. Hot summer evening.
I think Bruce's attitude is amazing. The guy is a musical and song-writing genius. Yet, does he tramp around demanding green M&M's or special teas, etc. like some other has-been stars? No. Does he hide himself in some ugly mansion in Hollywood? No. I am from Freehold, NJ and you can't get more real than this town. Bruce still hangs at Sweet Lew's eating breakfast with the locals. That's the perfect attitude a superstar should have.
I 've been to the Late Show with David Letterman 8 times and I NEVER NEVER saw a band BLOW a crowd away like Bruce & The E Streeters did that night. I 've also been to about 200 concerts in my life, and I NEVER seen a better live show than Bruce & The E Streeters.
i am an American and i don't understand why if someone atates obvious facts about problems in America, it makes them "anti-American"? The vast majority of Bruce's songs are about how the Ameican system of Government by Big Business, for the Interests of Big Business leads to holes in our society into which the little man, the working class hero, falls and from which escape is not possible. Bush has epitomized these abuses of Big B and so--yes, it is embarassing that New O is still not rebuilt!
I think it's all a matter of attitude. I don't think bruce has ever been considered un-American because he sings for the little guy, the people who aren't heard. Without the little guys, America would be absolutely nothing.
Harlem was bad back in the day...it is actually thriving now. Jesus, go read a fucking newspaper or a scholarly journal or something, instead of regurgitating what some anti-american asshole said
2nd, We will not waver; we will not tire; we will not falter; and we will not fail. Peace and freedom will prevail. If you knock our buildings down, we will rebuild. God Bless the USA!!

no boukevberg...God bless America because we are the last best hope for the human race...Nothing is perfect in this world...but ask yourself why people all over the world risk everything to get into this wonderful country....it's because in this country nobody tells you what you can be....you can be anything you want to be.....you need to travel abroad my friend...come back home and then you will kiss the ground when you get off the plane.......
if you can be everything you want to be, why are 20 percent of the american people living beneath the line that indicates poverty and hungry (for example people in Harlem) and if you can be everything you want to be: why are the most people who're dying because of violence, american people?
boukevdberg....go travel ...our poorest live better than 85 percent of the people on the planet.....there are also great heroic success stories in Harlem that would bring tears tot he eyes of people not blessed to be here...but of course a "glass half empty" person wont see that.....ask yourself this...why do people all over the world risk everything just to get here??....Because unlike you they know.......
just face the facts: 20 percent of the american people are living beneath the worldwide poverty level, there are no standard insurence agency's and there's also no standard retirement policy in the states. Maybe a 'glass half empty' person like you wouldn't face the facts.
boukevdberg....It's obvious you haven't traveled much.....Heres a short trip ..Mexico go travel around Mexico...come back ...and you know what wordwide povery is ...because you dont have clue
boukevdberg.....New Orleans was basically wiped off the map ...did you expect it rebuilt in a year?? You're not from the US are you??.....You have a lot of hate for my country....Do you live in Europe..?
This kid is probably from Germany or France. ROFL! Anyway, let him enjoy Europe's 11% unemployment, small housing flats and enormous taxes. I love my great job and big house here in the U.S., only in the USA!
Nothing can hold back NYC. Bruce has a unique way of capturing, through song, our most intimate feelings and passions. God bless the NYC hero's: NYPD, NYFD and all the volunteers and Bruce Springsteen.
He is truly an amazing artist, gifted in so many ways... he is a living treasure to so many in the world... i've seen him so many times and I never get sick of it, each show is always better than the last one... he has aged but still looks so damn fantastic, hey, he's father with kids, that would age anyone LOL... love him...
Bruce is God! He is the greatest concert i have ever been too! I've seen him twice and despite his age he puts on the GREATEST performances EVER!! I was born in Brooklyn till i was 5 but i was Jerzey till I am now 25...one of the great story tellers or our age..BRUUUUUUUUUUUUCE!
i have listened to him since i was 16 when i lived in scotland and play him every day.i am now going on 37 and have seen him 7 times.i now live in melbourne australia and will be travelling back to the uk to see him in manchester and london.
he is well worth the trip.
good to see people like yourself who also now share the passion.

Ya-RIGHT! You must be Patty Scialfa or Bruce's mom. I'm done trying to convince youto the facts of life. Actually you're becoming more boring than Bruce's last 5 records. Actually, I like little Steve's solo output better than Bruce's. No lie.

@RubHerSoul1 @kobe9985 Kobe is right man. I'm 23 but I can say that at most of his concerts there are thousands of people that are far younger than I am. Bruce is the best!
Flarfje 1 year ago
@Flarfje Ok. Whatever. I take it all back. Bruce is God. Changed the whole face of Rock music ten times over. No one can match his stunning hit making prowess, etc etc. I'm gonna throw all my other records away and join the Bruce commune and listen to nothing else. And I'm sure all the kids on my block will be lined up to join because Bruce really speaks to the younger generation.

Yeah, load of shit hits it right on the head.
kobe9985 1 year ago
@kobe9985 Who cares? Michael jackson sold the most records and won a ton of awards and acclaim and blah blah blah. He was great at one point too, but not better than the Beatles or the Stones, or even Bruce for that matter. It's not a popularity contest, son. If it were, The Beatles would make Bruce look like an American Idol winner. The Beatles were and still 40 years later a cultural phenomenon. No other act of the 20th century can match their output (only 7 years ) of sonic brilliance
RubHerSoul1 1 year ago
@RubHerSoul1 The Beatles as a band are FINISHED. You are comparing the whole Beatles band to one man in Bruce Springsteen. Go member for member, one on one and compare them. Bruce has surpassed all of them as a single muscian. Beatles are history and are gone, get over it. Bruce is still writing and making music people still buy, young or old people. Remember, you are not stating FACT. It's your opinion like mine. I'm not your son pal, more like you're Daddy.
kobe9985 1 year ago
@RubHerSoul1 "He was great at one point too, but not better than the Beatles or the Stones, or even Bruce for that matter."
Right, and the Beatles were once great too as well but no more, only in the history books. Bruce however is still around with his fans ranging from all ages more than any other old school artist.
kobe9985 1 year ago
@kobe9985 Wrong again. Bruce has not garnered any new and young fans since the eighties. The Beatles, Zeppelin, The Stones, and even Pink Floyd have been gone for ages and still get new fans every day. Show me a kid under 25 who is a Bruce fanatic. Just one.
RubHerSoul1 1 year ago
@RubHerSoul1 You are ridiculous. Ever been to a Bruce Springsteen concert recently? He has the most diverse fans in the world. I know this and witnessed this 22 times at his concerts. Just look at all these threads. Thousands of young kids are Bruce fans, open you're eye's man and read. All those bands you mentioned are history. Find a kid that likes the Beatles, good luck. Bruce is longevity. You can argue till the cows come home. Done with this thread. You are the one who is wrong, son.
kobe9985 1 year ago
@kobe9985 Funny how back in '95 when Bruce put out a new record, it got it's ass kicked by The Beatles' Anthology, which was music that was 30 years old at the time. Oh, and BTW, it was being bought by kids under 25 more than the adults. They polled it. Ya think Bruce got into rock music from listening to Peter Paul and Mary? I'd say it was the Beatles and the Stones, "son". Get real!

@RubHerSoul1 me, i am under 25 (19 years old) and a bruce fanatic. thats one.
Marz2605 1 year ago
@RubHerSoul1 Bruce Springsteen is my favorite musician of all time. When you write with the kind of poetic eloquence Bruce does, age makes no difference. His last few albums have competed with any he's made previously, even Darkness or BTR. As a performer, he's unmatched, and a lyricist he's in the company of the elite, such as Lennon and Dylan. and by the way , I'm a Junior in highschool. I'm 16 and have plenty of friends who feel the same way I do. So about him not attracting young fans? fail.
pezdel1 1 year ago
@pezdel1 Ha. Kid, you ain't old enough to remember when Bruce was "BRUCE". And you ain't heard shit for music if you think that this is the best it gets. When I was your age I had every great rock, soul, jazz and blues record I could get my hands on. Try listening to Tom Waits if you dare. Bruce did. BTW, what high school has a high quotient of Bruce fans today? Back in my day there was, but I highly doubt it now. Quit lying.
RubHerSoul1 1 year ago
@RubHerSoul1 My age hinders me in no way from recognizing undeniable talent. So don't tell me I don't know music because I'm young. Believe me, I do. I've listened to every one of his records more than once, and I've listened to all the other greats of the era too. Just because modern culture doesn't introduce kids to the legends doesn't mean they don't like it when they DO listen to them. And tell me, what's a musical genius of your caliber (and age) doing making an ass of himself on Youtube?
pezdel1 1 year ago
@RubHerSoul1I am 21 and a "Bruce Fanatic"Once you have been to one of his concerts where he rocks the crowd for 3 solid hours with his songs that go out to the hearts and souls of all his fans,(he also wrote the songs, I may add)The man is a genius and for you to deny such a thing is ludicrous. I am also not the only one under 25 I see at his concerts.
I think you need to think before opening your stupid mouth. I will give you your due on The Rolling Stones, but their history. The Boss lives on.

@RubHerSoul1 You are just rude and a vile human being. Get a life, and some good music taste.
gemimapoo 1 year ago
@gemimapoo Thank you. But I already listen to The Beatles, Stones, Who, Miles Davis and Tom Waits (the guy Bruce wishes he could be). BTW, he's the guy who wrote Jersey Girl. I hate to knock Bruce cuz I'm still a fan of his first 7 or 8 records, but you dolts thinking he's the 2nd coming are really narrow minded. It's you who i'm attacking not him. Gotta go. I hear my life calling.
RubHerSoul1 1 year ago
@RubHerSoul1 Tom Waits wrote jersey girl, who the fuck does not know that? You? Bruce is his own man. Why you continue to put tom dick and hairy in front of him is ridiculous. Where the hell are the Stones???? Last record they put out SUCKED! When was the last time Miles Davis put an album out? The who? Whos the who? Only two members left from The Who son. When was the last time the who came out with a record? I have all the albums from all the artists you mentioned. We can agree to disagree no?
kobe9985 1 year ago
@kobe9985 OK. I'll agree to disagree. But the last Stones record was great (as it well should be if they want to remain valid. But you won't find me giving praise to much of their output in the past 25 years, because it wasn't that great. That's what I'm trying to point out to all you Springsteen junkies. that his output in the last 15 years or so doesn't match what he did in the first 15 years of his career. And all the other groups I mentioned are still greater than BS will ever be!
RubHerSoul1 1 year ago
@RubHe I disagree with you. I thought the last stones record was garbage What did it sell, two records?. Even my best friend who is 74 years old, agrees Bruce is better then the stones in this late age he's in. He's been a stones fan since they came out in the real world. He saw Bruce in concert and completely forgot about the stones. He still loves the stones but he says nothing beats the BOSS. It's FANTASTIC, you think all those bands are greater then the E-STREET BAND & BRUCE! Good for U!!!
kobe9985 1 year ago
@kobe9985 You're missing the point my friend. No one and I mean NO ONE cares if you're the biggest Bruce Springsteen fan or if I'm the biggest Captain and Tennille fan (which I certainly am not!) If you love Bruce that much and his music turns you on like Miles Davis and the Stones and the Beatles do for me, then that's you're perogative. But enough of this my hero is greater than yours shit. This ain't sports. It's not a competition or about numbers. He's great, but not THAT great. Sorry
RubHerSoul1 1 year ago

I also don't see the musical connection between the Boss and the Great Neil Young. I'm just glad they and Dylan are all still out there burning bright playing as strong as ever. haha, you need to lay off the drugs. Dylan is the reason springsteen picked up a harmonica and started writing songs. As for not sounding like DYLAN, you probably have't seen or heard springsteen in concert lately. Dylan ownes, and as good as springsteen is he's only a sub for DYLAN!!!!!!!
tlp27tx 2 years ago
I´ve seen Springsteen live 10 times since 1999 (last time was this year in June) and I know that Dylan was one of Springsteens role models, but Springsteen has grown since then, and he became better and bigger than Dylan ever will be.
arcenstone 2 years ago 9
Are you kidding right? How can you say that? If you ask to the boss who is the best between him and Dylan , he won't say himself for sure...dylan and the beatles were the starts of Music as we know it...Do you really believe that without "Blonde on Blonde" or "Highway 61" albums like born to run would be produced?
matita123 2 years ago
@matita123 I´m ot denying that Bob Dylan was a great influence to Bruce, and of course Bruce wont say that he´s better than Dylan or any other artist, he dont consider himself superior even though his fans know he is! But when it comes to songwriting and most important of all Live performances Bruce is better than Bob Dylan without a doubt and the so called "apprentice" has outgrown his "master" years ago.
arcenstone 2 years ago 2
For the songwriting you can't say that...the lyrics that bob dylan wrote change the story...songs like "The time's they are a-changing are something more than songs....We're agree about the gigs...nobody is better than The Boss...just like nobody is better than Dylan about songwriting...
matita123 2 years ago
i dont know. i agree certainly that dylan is more influential, but i think thats as much to do with being in the right place at the right time as anything else. But bruce's songwriting just does evokes something, does something to me that no other songwriter can achieve. maybe its just me, but i think the boss is unparalleled. plus, for every great dylan song there is a rubbish dylan song. bruce, say what you will, is effortlessly consistent.
graemetheshellby 2 years ago 2
For what it's worth I pretty much agree with you. Bruce has at the very least equaled Dylan and when one considers the sheer volume of quality, quality songs Bruce has penned vs Dylan it only emphasizes the point
cubfever7 2 years ago
It has never been a matter of whether without this or that what would or would not have come up later. Just look at the work. I know of no other artist who could possibly say that he did Born to Run, Nebraska, Born In The USA and Tunnel of Love. Listen to them. It's the same guy all the time. Dylan is a myth for me, an awsome legend, I love him deeply. But there's only one boss.
northmind 2 years ago 4
In terms of changing rock & roll from kids music, a passing fad, into serious adult art, no one, except the Beatles, has been more important and influencial than Dylan - and Springsteen knows it. He is a great admiror of Dylan and recognizes the debt he, and every other rocker owes Bob.
However, I can only assume you have never seen either in concert. No one, *NO ONE* is better live than Bruce, who also has passed Dylan as a writer of that serious adult art for which Bob blazed the trail.

That's the perfect attitude a superstar should have.

i am an American and i don't understand why if someone atates obvious facts about problems in America, it makes them "anti-American"? The vast majority of Bruce's songs are about how the Ameican system of Government by Big Business, for the Interests of Big Business leads to holes in our society into which the little man, the working class hero, falls and from which escape is not possible. Bush has epitomized these abuses of Big B and so--yes, it is embarassing that New O is still not rebuilt!

I think it's all a matter of attitude. I don't think bruce has ever been considered un-American because he sings for the little guy, the people who aren't heard. Without the little guys, America would be absolutely nothing.

if you can be everything you want to be, why are 20 percent of the american people living beneath the line that indicates poverty and hungry (for example people in Harlem) and if you can be everything you want to be: why are the most people who're dying because of violence, american people?

boukevdberg....go travel ...our poorest live better than 85 percent of the people on the planet.....there are also great heroic success stories in Harlem that would bring tears tot he eyes of people not blessed to be here...but of course a "glass half empty" person wont see that.....ask yourself this...why do people all over the world risk everything just to get here??....Because unlike you they know.......

just face the facts: 20 percent of the american people are living beneath the worldwide poverty level, there are no standard insurence agency's and there's also no standard retirement policy in the states. Maybe a 'glass half empty' person like you wouldn't face the facts.

boukevdberg 3 years ago
boukevdberg.....New Orleans was basically wiped off the map ...did you expect it rebuilt in a year?? You're not from the US are you??.....You have a lot of hate for my country....Do you live in Europe..?

This kid is probably from Germany or France. ROFL! Anyway, let him enjoy Europe's 11% unemployment, small housing flats and enormous taxes. I love my great job and big house here in the U.S., only in the USA!

Nothing can hold back NYC. Bruce has a unique way of capturing, through song, our most intimate feelings and passions. God bless the NYC hero's: NYPD, NYFD and all the volunteers and Bruce Springsteen.

He is truly an amazing artist, gifted in so many ways... he is a living treasure to so many in the world... i've seen him so many times and I never get sick of it, each show is always better than the last one... he has aged but still looks so damn fantastic, hey, he's father with kids, that would age anyone LOL... love him...
