@pnabz i meant 'class' as in cool. Bardens Bar for one, the markets, shoreditch park. But at night I agree it is a completely different place, I've found it's mostly the top end of hackney like Hackney Downs and Lower Clapton that are horrible.
Mare Street is cool and Graham road and the Dalston areas.

I live near Hackney Central station and walk home from Brick Lane a few times a week and I've never been stabbed or mugged. Hackney is one of the most popular places to live in creatives and artists these days.

So why is London Borough of Hackney 2nd deprived in England then next door London borough of Tower Hamlets is 3rd. London the second most deprived region of England after the North West. We do have boarded up houses there are many in my borough but they are just spread out plus London had slum clearences decades ago this is the capital they put in alot of money to make it look good also we are hosting the olympics in 2 yrsbut underneath all that its a different story
