I have no recollection of another singer who could deliver such a song in a way that could at least remind us of Hudson's powerful voice and moving interpretation, but Thalita's, who's not even an american. To understand why she did not won a CD recording, you should check William Marques' presentations. In spite of pertaining to a different style, he was a very talented candidate, having a timber impressively similar to Elvis Presley's.

Yes, you're right! It was a contest. There were two prizes: one for the most technically skilled singer and another for the most commercial profile. Thalitta was regarded the most technically skilled and won a brand new car, while William Marques won as the most commercial singer, and as awarded with his own CD recording.

The hostes are judges. Some are already aclaimed singers themselves, while others are songwritters and producers. Apparently they got quite overwhelmed by her performance. This is so likely because of her uncommon wide vocal range and power, not to mention her skills on improvising. All of this without having had a single vocal class ever.

It was obvious the RE: part. Anyways, This girl is great! Although it's clear that she had to memorize the lyrics. Which in some parts had little problems, it transmited emotion. That's amazing! I hope she gets to sing professionally.

It's true she had problems with the lyrics, but it is worth mentioning that English is not her mother language, since she is brazilian. Also, she is a very humble young woman who has never taken nor singing neither music classes. In spite of being an amateur, she deserves my respect.
