morrissey dont despise any of the band he just did not like the way they all sat in the court room and let the judge call morrissey names the rest of the band just wanted equal payouts they could have stepped in at anytime to defend mozz but they didnt and we all know mozz is verry delicate he just took it to heart and said they were obviously not his freinds he dont hate them,
@dean24uk - thats if you have nothing against same sex relationship.... dont get me wrong... im not homophobic....but i guess thjs song is for some HANDSOME DEVIL.... anyway this song opened my world to indie music until now

@JonasBridgous For real he's so underrated in the guitar world. They should stop covering on shitty classic rock "shredders" and throw marr in there along with andy gill.
Watching these old videos is fun (they were recorded before I was even born!) I'm a new fan of The Smiths, and I think I would have loved to see them perform. Also, Morrissey was very hot.
i have never heard them play a bad version of hand in glove yet . this is my favourite song of all time. it takes me back to the 1st time i saw them at the old caley palais in edinburgh 14-6-84 . one of the best concerts i have been to . i took my girl who ended up being my wife. the smiths have made a big impact in my life .the wife and i seen them twice after that gig. i wish i could turn the clock back to 1984/85/86. thanks for posting video.
it`s true mate . my daughter is 19 and when she `s wanting a lift in my car . she always ejects the cd unless it`s the smiths 1st album. the wee boy`s 11 and he`s a big smiths fan. he also loves morrissey. i wonder why? my wife and i are going to take greig & michele to see morrissey the next time he plays scotland . morrissey has never let us down yet. he just gets better and better.
Its a shame that no one really knows The Smiths that well in this modern age. The only song anyone would know is How Soon Is Now, and thats because its the Charmed theme song. Of course, there are exceptions like your kids, and myself (I'm 18). Its a shame they broke up as well, isn't it? Probably the shortest career for such an influential band. And I guess deep down, they're all too proud to reunite. Lets hope they do one day, so I'll get a chance to see them as a band, and you too once more.
It's not about them being proud, it's about Morrissey loathing Mike Joyce more than the devil. Also, I find The Smiths are as popular nowadays as ever.
The reason you gave is probably true, I wouldn't know. Even so, Morrissey and Marr could reunite at least, couldn't they? They virtually were the Smiths, and you just said that Mike Joyce was the reason. As for The Smiths being as popular as ever, I hope you're right. If I ever asked one of my friends if they've heard Hand In Glove before, they would look at me blankly, I'm afraid.
actually, i'm pretty sure that it's Andy Rourke who Morrissey really despises, though he hates Joyce as well, it's not to the same degree, i can't blame him, i'd be pissed too
@susiefluffypuppies No, it's Joyce Morrissey hates. I don't know how friendly Morrissey is with Rourke these days but he certainly doesn't despise him.
In my town they have a 80s indie disco night were they play things like The Smiths, Pixies, The Cure, New Order etc. and you always get a large amount of young people singing to The Smiths, alot of people are aware of them to be honest, more than you'd thing
Oasis? pffft... give me a break... not even in the same league and should be in the dollar bin at a bargain store... actually im pretty sure ive seen it there...
Smiths>Joy Division>Stone Roses>Oasis, Oasis have dropped off due to their talent waining, Liams voice is gone, Noel's songwriting has turned into shit. They are living off former glory, Oasis are a spent force, 'definitely maybe' was lyrically the album of a generation, (whats the story) morning glory? was too over produced, I liked the guitar reverb on the debut, as for 'be here now', well that was just wank.
Courteeners Are Shit Lol - How Anyone Can Put Them In The Same League As The Smiths Or Joy Division Is Beyond Me. No One Will Remember Them In A Few Months. The Smiths Will Live Forever!
i love the smiths soo much. my other fav bands are lamb of god, children of bodom and iron maiden. shows how good they are, soo different to the rest of the music i love. sheer brilliance!
i just wrote pretty much that on another smiths vid i watched right before this... im into sabbath, candlemass, korpiklaani etc... all very much diferent
Moz mistakenly introduces the song as "Miserable Lie", but then they play "Hand in Glove". He tries to correct his error at the closing comments. The following song at this show is "Miserable Lie".
oh what i would give to have been able to see the smiths live
