A downgrade happened regardless and would for sure have been worse had we not raised the debt ceiling at all. I've been teetering with Pawlenty and after this he is really pushing me away. That Bachman could not stop majorities in the house and Senate is not proof of failure. The problem is restrictions. Why would you start a business or open a factory in the US if it's so much cheaper to do it in Mexico or somewhere else? Why spend extra money when you already have the risk of failure looming over your head? People think we have a free market system here in the US, but that's actually not true. We have a mixed economy, and that's the reason there are no jobs. A true free market system would make it favorable to keep jobs here.
