Hey man, my MicroKorg arrived yesterday. I'm a little confused, I can't seem to play chords. The MicroKorg is polyphonic so I should be able to play chords shouldn't I? Also, what are voices and timbres in synthesizer terms?
@Spacemonkeymojo a difference in timbre within a synth is the subtleties of a sound. if you play a saw wave, then combine that saw wave with a new saw wave that has a slightly different timbre, the sound will become larger and louder. if you play each saw wave separately, they will sound very similar, but when they are played at the same time, very little next to zero phasing will occur.
@Spacemonkeymojo a voice is a combination of up to two different waves with up to two different timbres per wave. also consider all the other functions you can use to alter the sound along with that.
When you talk about Audio input 2, you mention something that sounds like freak, and I'm assuming you're saying freq. Can you elaborate on what you can do with that?
when i say "freak" i mean fuck with the sound. you can use input 2 in place of oscillator one, and then in turn run it through the filter, lfo's, etc. allowing you to process loops or other keyboards.
@earlky94 Oh I get ya. That's actually pretty sweet. I don't really have anything to put through it, except maybe a guitar, but that's a cool feature.

@RIPjohnbonham
do you have many effects for you guitar like temolo or a talk box?
earlky94 1 year ago
@earlky94 Actually, I have a few, mostly distortion but I do have a phaser and a wah. Are you implying I could use those through input 2?

@RIPjohnbonham
you can turn your microkorg into an okay talkbox but the patching is kinda wonky. it might not be worth it to you but it works okay for me
earlky94 1 year ago
@earlky94 Hmm, it's interesting. It might be worth it, but at that rate it might be easier to just get a talkbox.
