Thanks so much for sharing this video. It should be pointed out to beginners that this technique leaves a lot to be desired. While no one deserves the rude and ignorant comments that some viewers have chosen to share, it is clear that this person is not ready for this much clay. Take a lesson from this that one should gradually work their way up to larger and larger amounts of clay, but don't try to take on more until you are proficient with your current amount.
he's teaching people? he needs to re-learnbasics before he should attempt to throw that much clay and teach people. please don't post this stuff cause your just confusing people who look these videos up to learn
I hope that by watching your own video you can learn, and correct some of the issues that you had. Because I can tell you from experience that there are much easier ways to accomplish what you are trying to do. You might start by spiral wedging your clay. With large amounts of clay try wedging smaller amounts and then assembling them on the wheel. also you may try throwing the top middle then bottom as opposed to one large pull. I wish you luck!
no offense...but ive been taking pottery for about a semester now...
but this seems to be very bad technique...the pulls dont look very steady. all the ridges from the centering look like they throw off the balance when he/she is pulling up the walls.
I may be talking out of turn here but it looks a very ugly way to throw a pot, I'm new to pottery so I may well be wrong but he seemed to have a lot of air bubbles in his clay and in the next video on from this I could swear the rim is thicker on one side too.
This demo sucks!! why would you even post this shameful video!??

That is pretty bad for an "instructor". I have only been throwing for a couple of months now and i think i could do better than that.

how long have you been throwing
ni3dzi3lski 4 years ago
He is my instructor at a pottery studio. He might have been doing quite long. Maybe more than twenty years.

Looks like you should find a new instructor! His techniques are really bad, if he's teaching you to throw like he does...hmmm need I say more???
