  • Does anyone know of a faster, more punker and more emotional sounding version of this that came out in the early '90's? I'm thinking it might of been a band from the Northwest but I'm not sure. I just know I heard it on Drinking from Puddles on KBOO in Portland, OR. I'm sorry but this version just ain't cutting it and I swear if you heard that version, you'd be blown away.

  • Does not work.

  • good...

    but no necessary.

  • Do it less like he does it and use your voice.

  • Love beck. love this song. unfort the 2 just dont mesh

  • its good

  • Am I the only person who thinks this is brilliant? The vocals are perfect.

  • @RaygunShaun I agree, people hate on this stuff, You know its supposed to sound like this, its like a jamming session but actually sounds real good, different people appreciate different things. its not like hes trying to sound really clean and everything perfect. the way he makes it inperfect is perfect? haha, just enjoy the song for what it is

  • @0ooHAYDENoo0 That makes sense; as a lo-fi music fan, I love imperfections.

  • Well...I'm not sure how to feel about this. I do know that I dislike whoever sings for MGMT more every second I hear this.

  • Ick!

    Warpool down there said it.

It's a "trance" song. That calls for slowness.

Adding fancy beats destroys all hope of the trance developing.

  • great great great

    !thanks for sharing!

  • Good Stuff! Beck from my confussing youth? Leonard Cohen from my troubled soul.......very well could be a link.....The older you get the trippier life gets. the vail removed so painfully into a satifacion that this isnt reality...only moments.

  • awesome

  • You have to know that the Record Club is a concept created by Beck. Him and others famous musicians/singers have to record a cover album in just one day. It's really experimental and rough in my opinion. Don't judge too quickly

  • sad. simply sad

  • I like it, but what makes it good is the original beautiful melody and lyrics by Leonard Cohen.

  • good different

     beck

  • I don't know what to say really. I like both MGMT and Beck but I'm a big fan of Leonard Cohen. I think if they got away from trying to sound like Cohen this song might be better. It has a trance like feel to it though and it just feels like they are jamming out and having fun. So no harm done I think, but this is most likely the last time I listen to it.

  • very good commentary mister...beck is not always good with other peoples music..he got his own extraordinary thing and should stick to it.
