@ninjaabcde execpt india isn't getting the F-16IN it's getting either the eurofighter typhoon or the rafael. both of which are vastly superior to the JF-17. and anyway, it's not the plane that matters it's the pilots and in the past, Indian pilots have generally performed better than their pakistani counterparts

Eurofighter. 1600nm on internal fuel (4.5 tons). Mach 1.5 supercuise, top speed mach 2. Not bad for a cold war design. And it has technology from Europe and US. Some of the tech in the F-35 is from Europe. So I wouldnt say that US aircraft are that advanced from European fighters.

Since US and Europe share their technology.

However in aircraft design. Its Europe that wins. EF and Raf in mmrca.

Rafale has damn good technology too.

nice plane but Boeing (improved) F/A-18E/F Super Hornet international road map will win over the smaller f-16,which will be configured w/ conformal fuel tanks with enhanced 20% more thrust performance engines,spherical missile laser warning, enclosed weapons pad,next generation cockpit and internal infrared search and tracking system, the Revolution aesa radar will be in the deal. the f-18 is able to use the most weapons of all fighters, plus room for growth in the future

@1987naren Iraq sent a request for 18 F-16's for their air force for when the U.S forces leave, to protect against any threat like Iran and Syria.

The F-16IQ is block 52, nothing new really.

But the Iraqi gov't has delayed that in favor of other needs for Iraqi people like food supplies, good choice. U.S wouldn't let them b attacked I think.

F-16 is not going to be a good choice. If India is really keen on buying an American plane, then I would go with the Super Hornets.

Pakistan already has F-16, and as F-16 is used by most countries, the capabilities of the planes are known to everyone.

India should rather go with Typhoon or F-18

The F-16IN does in fact have major chances for winning the tender. It is battle tested, cheap and has the best radar(APG 79). The F-16IN is even more advanced than the F16 sufa of the israelis. Mirage 2000 could beat the F-16 using indian tactics which were designed for that, but that does not mean F16s were inferior. If indians had F-16 and pakistanis had mirage 2000, tactics would have been designed for otherwise. And mirage 2000 is not available.

U might be wrong. The F-16IN is called the "Super viper" for a reason. Its technologically superior to other F-16 variants in every way, With advanced Radar , Enhanced combat range and a powerful new engine. Plus its easy and cheaper to maintain than most other aircraft in its class. So i wouldnt be surprised if India does eventually choose the F-16IN.

Presence of a more dominant American plane - F-18 works against it.

And certainly the biggest thing : Pakistan has F16.

Now, IAF knows that F-16 offered to India are 10X better than Pak's. But, the Psychological barrier works against F-16.

The F/A-18E/F as a 4.5 generation fighter would be most comparable with the Eurofighter, Gripen, Su-35, F-16E/F, J-10B and rafale while the F-16IN is a borderline 4th/5th generation fighter most comparable with the F-15SE, MiG-35 and Su-35BM

Su-35BM, Su-30MKI, F-15SE are together and

Mig-35, F-16, J-10, and Gripen are in their own group.

Ranking by capabilities as an A2A platform, it will probably go something like this:

F-15SE*, Su-35BM*, Typhoon, F-18E/F, Rafale, F-16IN, F-16E/F, Gripen NG, Su-30MKI, Su-35, Mig-35, J-10B, Gripen C/D
