  • Where did the fuel go...? Two massive engines, and tiny wings.

  • we didn,t thankfully(ask the aussies about costs) get them either

  • You can blame the labour government who always cock up Britains military ability and The Americans didn't want Britain to have it either and supplied Britain with F111's on condition that that all development tools and blueprints were destroyed.

  • @lonelycyclist Umm..have you been watching what the tories have done recently?!? Not a labour supporter by any means, but the condems have been little better!

  • Further proof that politicians are short sighted and foolish when it comes to choosing what to keep.

  • Apparently later production versions would have had variable pitch rectangular intakes similar to the tornado or F-15. That would have looked awesome!

  • if your serious about getting xr220 i hope to god you do it but i cant see it happening for a start it was a prototype just hoe far through the flight program were they?

the caa are akward gits from what little i know they had all sorts of trouble getting xh558 (the vulcan) flying again iv been to cosford twice recently and still never seen the vulcan fly :(

ps id put money on the tsr2 being the fastest plane in the world at sea level too

  • @eatthisvr6 As i said "XR-220" was 100% ready to fly Just Before the point the programme was axed!

(she also had multiple improvements & adjustments that eliminated the landing gear issues that "XR-219" had gone through during her early testing & first flights).

I'm well aware of the ever ruthless CAA, the Victor that did a "hop" down the runway a year or so ago was still flight capable, but not licensed to do so.

Restoring TSR-2 will take a long time, & a reasonable budget, but it will happen!

  • @TSR1989FF i GENUINLY hope you make it id swap a testicle to see a vulcan and tsr2 fly (add a victor into that too) ps do you know if any victors have any fatigue life left?

pps do you have a website etc?

  • @eatthisvr6 Thanks.

The best condition Victor i'm aware of is "XM-715", the same one that "hopped" as it were, when i saw it on Television it was a surprise, she hasn't lost her touch for short take off's thats for sure ; )

A Dedicated Website is under development, it's a little way off still but it will be announced on YT when completed, since the long term undertaking is just as arduous as that of the "Save the Concorde Group" it's going to need all the Financial & public backing possible.

  • @TSR1989FF any updates

  • @TSR1989FF

at this rate youll get the tsr flying before i get my car fixed/finished lol

  • Sexi plane

  • Great video of History,s greatest forgotten aircraft.Everlasting shame on the people who destroyed Her,honour to the Chief test Pilot Rolland Beaumont one of my heroes!

  • Out of Curiosity Who/What is your Sources for the C.G.I. Footage Used Here?

I'm Getting the Different Bits together for A Video on the "BAC TSR-2 Eagle"

of my own & Anything extra would be a Great help.

  • This is a brilliant mic comp...thanks

  • tsr2... she would have been the best ever!!!!!! RIP!!!! the uk sold out yet again

  • What would it have been called? If it had gone into service it probably wouldn't have had it's TSR2 development name.

  • @Alembic25 I'm Glad You pointed that out,

The BAC TSR-2's Name (Widely Forgotten) was/is "Eagle" & probably

if it had been Modified for Naval Usage (It was capable of making the Short Takeoff's/Landing's from a Aircraft-Carrier like the "BlackBurn Buccaneer & Hawker Hunter with a few Alteration's) that Variant would have been called

"Sea-Eagle" (quite apt since the Sea Eagle (Bird) is a British Species & one of the most Impressive [beside's Eagle-Owl's])

  • @TSR1989FF Eagle? Interesting. I live very near Cosford where the second TSR2 is kept. I went there for the first time since I was a kid and was interested to see that the avionics bay behind the cockpit contained what appeared to be data recorders, possibly stress recorders. It was also in pristine condition generally and saddened me that it never flew. In the end, a lot of the work that was done with TSR2 went on to Tornado via the UKVG & AFVG paper projects so it was not all in vain.

  • @Alembic25 Indeed,

Also.. many of the The TSR-2's Innovation's Proved invalueable to the Concorde Program (Which "Wilson" [URGH!] also tryed to cancel, However our Co-operative Pact with the French ment he had to (to his considerable enbarrissment as the French Cut all Diplomatic tie's Instantly to Britain as soon as he announced the Cancelation) Back down on that one (Thank god [or Frog in this case])

Admititly if you had the Two Aircraft together they are like Kindred Spirit's of the Sky's.

  • @TSR1989FF shoulda called it the vengeance it would have had ties to the fantastic v bombers then :)

  • @eatthisvr6 Vengeance you say?

I agree attually, after all TSR-2 was planned as the replacement for the "AVRO Vulcan" (in the interdictor role) so a V-Name would have made sense i agree.

"Viceroy" / "Vincent" / "Vindictive" or "Vector" are other names hat could have worked.

  • @TSR1989FF eagle was a good name it just wasnt a v lol

viceroy voncent and vector are crap names for planes vindictive is good but i reckon vengeance is perfect for such a capable and outright mean aircraft

  • @eatthisvr6 True

With those first two i just quoted what came to mind from previous British Aircraft names.

Vengeance is indeed a very apt name for TSR-2, she was after all the intended Forth V-Bomber.

(Although "Viper" is also a good one ; )

  • So advanced, it got an inertial Verdan computer feeded thru perforated card! ¿Could you believe that? Computers in 1964! The TSR.2 was the first aircraft where the cost of avionic systems was the same as the rest of the plane. It got doppler radar, radar altimeter, negative dihedral wingtips to run at match 1.2 at 30 mts. The most powerful vented flaps in history (for take off on short unprepared airfields), etc. At the factory, engineers were shocked, the aircraft looked like a rocket.

  • @pixelsilva Indeed, This "Interdictor" was far ahead of anything else in it's Area of expertize at the time & a Shining example of how good British Engineering was/is & will Alway's be (If only our Politcians realised that)

I Named my TSR Foundation (See profile) in Honour of this Beautiful Aircraft due to what it represent's & because It is a future Desire/Objective of the

TSR Foundation to Restore "XR220" To Flying Condition to give Her back what was denied her in 1967 by The Labourite's.

  • @TSR1989FF ... the most beautiful aircraft ever build, indeed. ¿What did you say the name of your foundation was?

  • @pixelsilva The "TSR Foundation" is a Foundation/Franchise (In Beta at present) Dedicated to Reviving Britain's Manufacturing Industries & Geopolitical Influence by any Required Means & Undermining Pax-Americanan Interests to Secure British Geopolitical Recovery), I named it in Honour of the "TSR-2 Eagle" in 2008 (in part due to the fact that those who Killed Her off [Labour Party & The U.S.]The TSR Foundation exist's to Destroy [Long Term]),

TSR-2 "XR220's"restoration is the other reason.

  • @pixelsilva Altough "XR220"'s Restoration to Flightworthy Condition wiil take a very long time & the Support (Financally & overwise) of many it (As far as we are concerned) will be a Noble accomplishment worth more than All the Money in the World to see the "XR220" Given back what was denied Her in 1967 & to prove once & for all that She was/is & will always be Superior to the "General-Dynamic's F111 Raven/Ardvark" in performance & Firepower.

Additionally Our symbol is the "Black Ensign",

  • @TSR1989FF i thought xr220 never flew in the 1st place?

  • @eatthisvr6 Ah but she very nearly did! (she was fully flight readied in 1965, & was due to make her first test flight only day's after the date the programme was axed), & of the only remaining two Planes she is the eldest & the most complete.

In terms of restoration "XR-220" is the ideal choice, plus some of the componants she is now fitted with where salvaged from "XR-219" (the only Prototype to fly, that was destroyed as a gunnery target).

  • @TSR1989FF Could you divulge more information about the restoration of XR220 please! I have not heard about this project. What's happening??

  • dont blame the us for this, the labour gov was totaly responsable for the closure of this program ,,the politicians then where totaly anti us so would not have listened to them anyway ,,ps ime british

  • OK, so it thrills us all a lot. A lovely piece of kit.

Other than appearing at airshows, what else would it have done?

  • T(actical) S(trike) and R(econnaisance) 2, there's a clue in its name

  • TSR2 was so far ahead of her time!! The fact the lightnings acting as chase planes could not keep up with her tells volumes

  • This thing wouldnt be obselete even today, it was miles ahead of itself when it was created!

  • Ya know what, USA were so jealous of it they asked the UK goverment to cancel it. So they did, and the saddest thing is they asked for the creators to destroy their own 2 prototypes with fire and the remains were also destroyed. The Americans aint always good allies - they were jealous of the TSR 2 and they asked the uk to DESTRY AND CANCEL IT. GREEDY BLIGHTERS!!!

  • Totally fucking awesome. Sent shivers down my spine. Oh, what could have been...

  • Dunno. I reckon they mightve had one if it'd been built ! certainly faster than the flying tent pegs they used to chase the shuttle!

  • WOW. My subwoofer was shaking the house to pieces at the end!

Great video. Not sure I agree with the NASA part. Would have likely ended up doing flight tests in UK, even so though... amazing to see it in action as it could have been.

  • Wow, it's a good looking aircraft, love the RAF desert pink one.

  • great vid mate, if only... is this the alphasim model?

  • Very good work! TSR2, one of the best and perhaps THE best British combat A/C never to see service!
