  • I'm in this musical at my school :O I'm on of the leads! :D

  • You recorded this with a toaster.

  • Is it possible to reupload with better quality?:)

  • am i the only one who gets totally pissed off when people start clapping in the middle of a song?

  • Can i please confess how i think this a FUCKING AWESOME musical?! Disageww if you want, but i think i belongs on the same shelf as Wicked, Avenue Q, etc/

  • every single time i watch a video of the broadway production the only think that I can think is wow this recieved way too shprt of a run like this comment if you think they should seriously have a revival

  • @bnyc5131999 the only reason i disagree is that our 8th grade class is doing this as our musical, and if it went back on broadway now we'd have to find a new musical (not as easy as it sounds), but i'm totally for it in a few months!

  • So this is Cathy Rigby? (:

  • were duin the same dance movez in our production :D

  • lol so ironic that the first bit of this video is telling people not to record it!

  • What was the first song played?

  • @chi2268 oh the thinks you can think

  • Ugh. I love seussical.

  • who played the cat?

  • I wish it were easier to find videos from the broadway production :/

  • @13Superkitsune I do too!

  • dont you love how they recorded the part about not being allowed to record anything?

  • @cheeseburgerpals IRONY!!!

  • i cant wait i have to create the stage scenes and lighting for the play here and im the director and i cant wait

  • Is the cat played by Cathy Rigby?

  • @sebassnotafish yes it is :D she has such a distinct voice

  • Since when did the Cat in the hat was a girl?

  • I want to see MORE!!! :D

  • whoooo even the conductor rocks :D

  • I'm playing jojo in a month

  • I think thers a reason they played the recording of the disclaimer in the beginning, so such bad qual vids cannot be created!

  • love how it has all the recording thing at the start! FAIL!

  • do you have the entire play? i am the lighting designer for an upcoming school production and i need some ideas! thanks!

  • lawbreaker for filming, but I liked it.

  • Well - the show did poorly because of poor staging and overproduction. A lesson to be learned. The show works far better with 15 people - AND the should NEVER, under and circumstance, be a female CAT. The Cat in The Hat is a MALE CAT.

  • @jldavolt A female works just as well in the role of the Cat, especially in this show. The main quality of the Cat is that the Cat is very spontaneous and funny. If a female can do that, then more power to them.

  • hey, can you post amazing mayzie/gertrude? thanks!

  • Wow..... I'm sorry, but you kinda suck.....

  • i did the junior in school (bird girls rock!!!!!!)

  • I think I counted about 90 pixels in total.. haha. It doesn't bother me, really. I still got chills. I'm orchestrating this show for our community theatre and it's been so enjoyable playing every single part.

  • Do you have Janine's "All for You"? It's incredible and I can't seem to find it!

  • This would be such a fun show to conduct.

  • The cat is Mary Martin rite? It sounds like her

  • WOW. Its amazing to see it done proffesionally, i really hope they bring it to the west end :)) i'm playing Mrs.Mayor in our production in 2 weeks, so excited!!!! :D

  • is this Cathy Rigby playing the cat??

  • @divecc303 yeah i think it is

  • i just found out yesterday that in september my schools theatre company is starting seussical the musical!!!!!! and i am so very very excited >_<

  • AMAZING SHOW! MY FAVORITE!

  • Dude, I just got Gertrude in a local summer theater production! I am so excited, and these videos have really helped me for character study!

  • This is ace!!!

  • I love watching David Holcenberg conduct...fantastic show. Done it 7 times now, can't wait for the (inevitable) #8!

  • @filmscoreman12 yea he seems so full of awesome energy! looks like he's having fun!

  • My middle school did Suessical the Musical Jr. Some of the choreography was similar to ours. It was fun!!! I was a Who from Whoville.

  • I CAN NEVER STOP MYSELF FROM APPLAUDING EACH TIME I WATCH THIS! THNX!!!

  • This was waaaaaaaaaaaaaay different than the version my middle school did! I was the mayzie!

  • @pinkfrog415 Yah! Nowadays people do the off-broadway version more often than this because its the "better" version of the show! (ironically, it ran for less time than this, so I'm kinda surprised and mad that people don't do this version! ITS WAAAAYYYY BETTER!!!)

  • My school is doing the original version of Seussical!!! I auditioned and they really liked me! I was suppose to be the cat. I am a new student, and a junior! But I couldnt go cuz of my @#$!%@$#$ parents!!! Now a stupid girl got the part. And everyone says I am waaaay better than her.

  • @amirulzain THANK GOD YOUR SCHOOL'S SMART ENOUGH TO DO THE ORIGINAL! Sorry about your @#$!%@$#$ parents! XD I no how it feels!

  • The final pose reminds me of the pictures in the Dr. Seuss books! That was stellar and I wish I could see the whole Broadway show, even if it had to be in this quality! Also, the Cat's voice is so perfect!!! Yeaaaa

  • Best performance I have seen!Great job

  • @SpiderQueen971 Seusical jr drops the millitary subplot and its one act:P

  • Question: what's the major difference between the regular seussical and seussical jr.?

  • @SpiderQueen971 jojo has a bigger part in seussical jr, he's the boy who thinks up the cat in the hat and makes the story. the military plot was dropped (though there is a script where it was kept) and it was reduced to one act, and there are only twelve cast members needed.

  • @HoodedSuperman That really clarifies! Thx!

  • i love it how they mention beepers LOL this is sooooo old but it's still amazing

  • Who is playing the cat? It sounds like the woman who was Peter Pan... Cathy Rigby?

  • @vwashere Good ear. It is Cathy Rigby.

  • i love all your seussical videos! do you have "the military" by any chance?

  • is this filmed at playhouse square in cleveland,oh

  • I'd like to know why my High schools choreography is so similar to the original broadway show 0_o Aren't we supposed to be original? We just throw in "Think of something horrible and hairy something sinister and scary that you never dared to think of before! Think of nobody here, and the feeling of fear, and the darkness of night ooohoooh" Instead of the Cat host and MC part. So strange.

  • @HaleyWTK

did you do Seussical Jr. or Seussical the Musical ?

  • @yinnards Seussical the Musical.

  • @HaleyWTK

ohhh hmmm.... my school is doing Jr. right now and it has those exact same lines. i know bc im JoJo and my friend is Cat.... maybe you guys added tht line???

  • @yinnards I think a school chooses which line they prefer honestly. I've seen Seussical Jr and they did the same lines as we did. It's just preference I think.

  • @HaleyWTK

i dont think so its in my script for Seussical Jr.

  • @HaleyWTK There are 3 versions of this musical. The first version is this video. The first written version of all. Where Cat is the only star and the one interacted with the most. After critics attacked this musical so much, it was threatened with a cancellation, so they did so many attempts to save it, by have a celebrity cast. Then they re-wrote the script, Where Jojo and Cat are the most interacted with (the version you're thinking about) with some lyrics changes...then there's suessical jr.

  • Is that Cathy Rigby?

  • @Broadwaypuppet Also, why did they lower the score for her? She should have easily been able to hit David's notes!

  • @Broadwaypuppet yep!

  • This show is so phenomenal!!!! :)

  • @FlippedChik628 I know! Why did they Have to rework it for the current productions?? :'(

  • I adore this show, I wish that it had done well on Broadway because after I was in it, I always wanted to see what it looked like. Thanks for uploading!! I loved performing this song, I was a Who in it :)

  • Doing did at our school;,)

  • I don't understand why this show didn't do well on broadway. its so much fun to watch and be in.

  • @calliesaiyan What AhrensandFlaherty had in mind for the show was simplicity, in the Toronto workshop they used a few boxes as the set and a stick as a clover. When it moved to B-Way it turned into this giant mess with huge distracting wigs, an eye sore of a set, and crazy costumes. This may seem like fun but in reality, it's not. B-way took the idea of simplicity and turned it to craziness. I worked with Ahrens and Flaherty on the TYA production, a simpler version of the show. Hope this helped!

  • our closing night was yesterday... i dont know wats wrong with the musical but its the best musical our school has ever put on... im sooo sad its over :'(

  • doing this musical in my school, getting amazing feedback from people, such a great musical :)

  • UHHHH thts kinda illegal.

  • could u put up here on who

  • i just got cast in the ensamble and im already crying everytime i hear the opening this is going to be a very tearfilled 8 weeks

  • I like how it says "No recording devices" in the beginning of the play.

  • @Notwithoutmypants Omg I got caught recording in june at Sister Act I thought i was about to have a heart attack! Ruined New York for me!

  • @americasgottalent97 Haha, That sucks. it should be okay to record as long as you don't make any money off of it, I guess.

  • @americasgottalent97 what did they do?

  • @ictenor Im only 14 so i didnt get kicked out or in trouble with the police (Thank god!!!!!!!!!!) But the stage manager saw me backstage and some lady came down the asile and was like "What you doing is illegal" I thought i almost died! Than at the finale the MANAGER of the place was standing there waiting for me. He said it wasnt that big of a deal but it upset the manager.

  • I can't really tell if this is a kid playing cat or not. Does anyone know?

  • @moviesrule23 It's Cathy Rigby. She's not a kid, just very petite. :0) Hope that helps!

  • @moviesrule23 Its Sandy Duncan, she played peter pan alot on Broadway

  • @mdoyle1523 Oh, sorry. I meant Cathy Rigby. But Sandy Duncan played Peter Pan a lot as well!

  • This is epic. Brings me back to 4th grade when I first saw it. :-)

  • the overture brings back memories of standing on stage right, waiting to burst out yelling "SEUSS!" I LOVED BEING A WHO!

  • Does anyone know how the effect was achieved with the "Cat in the Hat" inside of the circular "Seussical" object...and then rolling out of it...with the object somewhat disappearing.?? It looks like a fabric?? any ideas as to how to do it and what was used??

  • I'm pretty sure that it's Cathy Rigby actually

  • So... is this the cat's understudy or did they just pitchshift his voice on the CD cuz he's really squeaky 0.0

  • @MangaLuvr1r34 The Cat in the video is Cathy Rigby, the Cat in the CD is David Shiner.

  • Wouldn't that stink if you were at this performance for the VERY FIRST TIME and you can't understand a word they're saying because everyone around you is screaming their head off?

  • We did this a few years ago. I was the Cat in the Hat :D

  • Best part is "when your thinks have run dry in the blink of an eye theres another think there"!

  • I absolutely love this musical. I love it more than Phantom of Opera which is saying a lot. I dont know why it went off Broadway beacuse its perfect!

  • @dlwm1234 phantom is amazing :D so is this!

  • Could you upload "Biggest Blame Fool"? It's my favorite!

  • Is this on tour anywhere cause i really want to see it now!?

  • this was closing night, most of the audience was hardcore fans of the show. thats why it's a loud audience

  • how far back are these people sitting???

  • cathy rigby is so irritating.

  • do you have Solla Solllew from this performence?

  • Could you possibly upload "Alone in the Universe" from Seussical? Thanks!

  • is this cathy rigby?

  • @divo0720 It is indeed Cathy Rigby :0)

  • American audiences are so over the top with the performance, they clap and scream at any available chance. I dont understand why? It's quite funny though :)

  • @LesMiz08 im guess u are from europe? ill tell ya why. cuz WE LIKE TO APPRICIAT THE ACTORS EVEN IF THEY FAIL.

Also btw, i think that the the cat in the hat should've never been played by a girl...

  • @LesMiz08 I think this was the closing performance, although I could be wrong. While American audiences do tend to be loud, this is pretty darn exuberant. Closing audience would mean family, friends, and dedicated fans. :0)

  • @LesMiz08 its called apprieciating the performance.

  • @GleekBroadway Yeah but it's so over the top, its embarrassing.

  • @LesMiz08 Yeah, but, I love it when I'm on stage and I hear people clapping. It's not really embarrassing at all for me. Now you have a different opinon on that, don't be offended.

  • @LesMiz08 They were clapping and cheering for a reason. Not just because they liked what they saw, but because it was the closing night of the show. A show, by the way, which was viewed by it's loyal audience to have been given the short end of the stick by Broadway critics and skeptical audiences.

  • @mbta0293 this was the last performance?

  • @LesMiz08 It was the closing performance, they were trying to give the cast a good sendoff.

  • @LesMiz08 This was closing night so I'm assuming they were all just like "Good job!"

  • @LesMiz08 It annoys me! I'm trying to listen but people always burst out clapping whenever anything funny or amazing happens! I'm always the only one sitting down, silent.

  • @LesMiz08 It was the closing night performance

  • in my hometown we do SMACK (summer musical and arts camp for kids) we did this play the 1st year, then we did charlie and the chocolate factory, then alice in wonderland, and this year we did the jungle book. And we bought copywright to all of them from broadway jr! ive played a main character in 4 of the,...this year i played bagheera! and for our SMACK 5th aniversarry we are doing seuissical again!!! :D I cant wait!

  • @petvetlovergrl o my goodness! i was bagheera too <3 LOVEE THAT SHOW!

  • @crazydivaxox really? dont you just love the character? I think its just amazing to get up on stage and act and all! Its crazy! When i found out i got the part of begheera i was freaking out! I was nervous when i performed though....it was at least in frong of 600-900 people. but over the years my confidence has gotten better! I cant wait to do suessical again next year! I wanna audition for either gertrude or maiyzie :)

  • @petvetlovergrl haha ABSOLUTELY. i actually watched that movie today because i just HAD to. i agree with you 100%! mine was jjust a school play so it wasnt such a big deal but it was to me at the time. i love how confidence improves :)

our school also did seussical. SO MUCH FUN. i was mrs. mayor :) (and the kid who played mowgli in the jungle book also was my "son," jojo!)

who were you last time? i auditioned for mayzie but i think it would be just as much fun to be gertrude! good luck!

  • @crazydivaxox haha nice! I wouldnt be as nervous for a school play, but ours is like...we buy the copywright to the play and like its on the news for our state and soo many people come to watch! lol! When we did suissical it was only our 1st year of our church doing SMACK (summer musical arts camp for kids, where we do these plays) I was only 7 and i had signed up late so i didnt have the chance to audition. I played a "who" it was still fun :) i played a main character in the other 3 we did!

  • @petvetlovergrl yeah, usually i wouldnt be but it was this huge deal for me in like 4th grade because i had seen them as a really little kid :). wow thats cool, we dont have as many opportunities for theatre thats actually a big deal like that where i live. thats cool, who were you in the other shows?

  • @crazydivaxox yea, its crazy cause as a little kid a grew up watching plays and all...and I always said "I wanna be on stage!" and now i have been! :) haha. I feel very fortunate to have the opportunuties that I have in my hometown. and The 2nd year we did Charlie and The Chocolate and I was Mrs.Bucket...wasnt a huge part, but it was a main part. 3rd year we did alice in wonderland. I was rose! The leader of the girls of the golden afternoon. solo's with all of them :) whoot whoot!

  • @petvetlovergrl definitely, its always nice to look back and think about where youve been and are :) ohh that sounds fun! i would looove to be im charlie & the chocolate factory. last year we did oliver, and i was widow corney, which was okay, but not as AMAZING as seussical. this is my last year at my school so i want to go out with a bang...i really want to do guys and dolls!

  • @crazydivaxox yes it is! and charlie and the chocolate factory is an awesome play! lots of singing..and it was amazing to do! (: suissical is definetly the best though. out of the 4 plays we've done so far, even though i played a main main character in the jungle book....suissical was my all time favourite...so far :) even though i was only 8 and i was an extra, i still just loved everything about that play!

  • @petvetlovergrl a school in the next town over is doing it, so we can't...grrr. haha i was veruca for halloween one year. YES, SEUSSICAL IS THE BEST, 100%. I practically still have it memorized, you are soo lucky you get to do it again! Seussical was just soo fun, it wsa like a dream come true :) as a show seussical was my fave, but i liked playing bagheera more than mrs. mayor. haha put your show on youtube!

  • @crazydivaxox aww im sorry you cant do! and ikr??!!?! It was amazing! and yea, i did enjoy being bagheera more than being a "who" but the story and music was wwwaayyy better in suissical! Plus, i grew up LOVING Dr.Suess books. I would read them allll the time! and which performance? I dont have suissical. They only started taping out performances last year. so we have last years show (alice in wonderland) and this year show (the junge book) but idk if i can put them on. We have to buy

  • @crazydivaxox copywright to the play...so i think it would be illegal to put the performance thing on youtube. lol!

  • @petvetlovergrl me, too. its definitely nice to be a lead. wow that was FOUR YEARS AGO. wow. haha i read a lot but not all of them. i remember i would just go to the library during seussical and sit for like hrs reading dr seuss...good times! well either...its probably complex idk a lot of people do it but i dont know how. do you just have to say you dont own anything?

  • @crazydivaxox oh yea it is. and nice! Dr. Suess books are the best! and yea...it looks complex...and i dont know how to put it on my computer :p and yea, probably! I just wish i knew how to put the dvd onto my computer and put it on youtube! im not very good with that kind of stuff :p

  • @petvetlovergrl haha that they are. the best books practically since the bible :D. im awful with that stuff too...i know how to put like digital camera vids on i think but its just too much to get my head arouond...i suck at everything computers. i wish they put the plays ive been in on youtube though. i would do it if i knew how.

  • @crazydivaxox Ikr! so true! and its ok, I am too. lol! And yea, i wish they would do that for me! That would help out...a LOT! haha :)

  • @petvetlovergrl computers are hard :( definitely! i just miss being IN a play...i was (3 different ones) from last october to this july, right in a row, and now i feel empty inside. sob!

  • @crazydivaxox yes they are! and awww! i miss being in one too. S.M.A.C.K (the thing where we do our plays) is only once a year, in the beggining of summer...ive done other little plays...but they are nothing compared to the ones i do in the summer. But im hoping to be in some plays in downtown...if i can find some! haha :)

  • @petvetlovergrl i know. i love that it is called SMACK though! hahaha. im not doing any community theatre because my schedule is crazy, and i just never auditioned. i know i should use this time to get good so when i DO audition for stuff ill kick butt :). i was in a vaudeville thing this summer, which was awesome (but seussical was better)

  • @crazydivaxox haha yes! Practicing and all that will always help :) Thats what i do....i sing every week at my church...so i practice to make sure im comfertable with the songs...cause if im not, i get nervous...I have a bit of stage fright but im working on it, and ive definelty improved on my confidence onstage! Im singing at my brothers wedding this nov. so hopefully i wont be nervous! haha i mean..there might be 150-200 people there...so ill try my best :p :) and i started piano lessons

  • @crazydivaxox just a few days ago! So when i get good at piano ill start writing songs and all that.....i wrote songs with just lyrics and nothing else to it, but i threw them away...dont know why, but then i did write a couple more and kept them, so maybe i can take them and add some music from the piano to it! :)

  • @petvetlovergrl yeah, i take voice and do school chorus. but for now thats all i have time for. thats really cool! i dislike my voice its hit that part right where the bridge is really awkward so i dont like singing in public so much. wow, piano! i cannot multitask like that, with both hands! good luck

  • @crazydivaxox haha im homeschooled. I have time for a lot, my weeks are always pretty busy. I have piano on mondays, voice lessons on tuesdays, wednesdays is church, thursday is band practice, and fridays i usually have a friend over or something. I just got back last night from virginia. I went there to sing at a church there, it was fun but tiring, but ill do anything to be onstage and sing! :) haha. and thanks for the good look! and yea, im not very cordinated. it'll be a miracle if

  • @petvetlovergrl I used to be homeschooled! i sucked at it though...i had basically no life and i didnt learn very much. but i liked not going to school. wow...thats pretty crazzy! haha just had to say my voice lessons are also on tuesday. i used to like singing a lot but i really have always loved to act...singing isnt my favorite thing to do anymore. is virginia far away or something? a miracle if what?

  • @crazydivaxox aww im sorry! yea.....i dont see my friends as often but im getting good grades....im getting A's and B's but mostly A's.....just like I did at public school. haha. and yea, i really like acting and singing both. But singing is something I grew up with, i enjoy them both but I like singing more. And va isnt too far away from me. its like, 2 and a half hours from me. and it would be a miracle If i could get everything down on the piano! haha

  • @petvetlovergrl thats cool...my school is pretty easy. yeah, i used to loove singing but then i discovered i wasn't actually good at it...haha and suddenly it seemed less appealingg. dance is sooo fun though! i take hip hop now, but i really want to take tap, it sounds awesome :D. violin is easier than piano because you really don't have to use both hands!

  • @crazydivaxox haha. Ive grown up singing...I dont think my voice is bad, but its not the best. but everyone tells me its really good...ahah. Im not a huge fan of dancing...only reason being the fact the I cant dance...I sorta can, but Im not very cordinated and I have to learn dances in very little steps. haha. I really like the sound of violins. Piano is confusing.....you have to be thinking the whole time, but I love it so far:)

  • @crazydivaxox I could get everything down on the piano.(: haha

  • @petvetlovergrl yeaH, im like that too...i dont think it is awful but its not the best right now because of my age and it sounds kinda childish, especially in the middle. dancing is so much fun! i suck at it but i LOVE it. at all 3 i would probably be over all the worst at dancing, even though i like it better than singing. i am a totall klutz. both my parents teach music, so it was like totally matural to take music lessons for me.

  • @crazydivaxox yea. My voice is getting stronger though...i just keep working at it. I sing alll the time....seriously. In my house i'll be walking around singing at the top of my lungs...ahaha:) Dance it fun, ill admit that. aha. I like it, im just not good at it. I'm a klutz too, its ok. lol! I hurt myself from tripping like alll the time!

  • @petvetlovergrl singing is so fun, even if i have the sound of a total opera singer. me too :) and in the shower its AWFUL. ever notice you soung better singing in bathrooms? ahaha. i just got back from hip hop, buttttt yes i am pretty bad at it. i do trip over flat surfaces :P

  • @crazydivaxox it is very fun! I love it...it's my passion. ahah. I do notice that. Whenever im singing in the shower I'll hit notes that i never thought I could hit...then when im the car or somewhere else, i just cant get it! It's weird...haha. Tripping over flat surface takes mad skill. I guess we both have that skill. Which means we are awesome:)

  • @petvetlovergrl yeah, it is...even though i suck. the only thing i have natural talent at is spelling...well, at least tha is somehing. totally, i meant like in front of people, even at like voice recitals ill be like "oh god that sounded better when i practiced!" when i get nervous my head voice dies. we ARE awesome! *high five*

  • @crazydivaxox I bet you dont suck:) hehe. Ill admit, im actually pretty good at spelling too! And yea, but for me its the other way around! Im usually a LOT more nervous during rehersals that I am for the real thing...wierd, huh? aha. But yea. and yes we ARE! *high fives back*

  • @petvetlovergrl haha thanks! spelling rulesss. sadly you cant make a career out of it. oh well. that IS weird, i wish i was like that. we are like ABOUT to find out what our play is, so i am so on edge right now haha...its my last one at this school so it had better be as awesome as we are :D

  • @crazydivaxox Yes it does:D and it is weird...like, this saturday my brother is getting married (IM SOOOO EXCITED!) and i have too sing...so ill probably be shaking friday night during rehersal...but the actually day i shouldnt be too bad:) aha. I think thats kind of a good thing:D and ohhh it better be! Especially since its your last year!

  • @petvetlovergrl wow, thats cool! my sister is 8 so that wont happen to me anytime soon. you. are. so. lucky. they are announcing our show at a meeting on thursday...! i have a guess as to what it is but i am not positive...it is just a middle school show though so its not a HUGE deal. but it is important to me...it just is :)

  • @petvetlovergrl ahaha nice. you have awhile with your sister. only 8. im the youngest out of 3 kids:) aha:) I know it must be a big deal for you! It would be for me too:) Any kind of thing i'm in is really important to me....it just is:) aha
