you have to consider the fact that he had a bum knee that WHOLE year no one talked about it but he wasn't back to full strength til Michigan St. he definitely didn't have his breakout speed last year
@jonny2736 He's saying that Ingram isn't an elite back like AP because he doesn't have elite speed. Makes sense to me....anyone who thinks Ingram is in the class of Peterson or Chris Johnson just doesn't know football.
@synergy5 Real talk, he doesn't lack speed either. He won't burn people in a straight footrace, but since he hits his top speed so rapidly, elite acceleration, has great feet, and balance...I bet he has as many 30+ yard runs as anyone else in the league. Including CJ2K.
I feel Ingram is very comparable to Emmitt Smith, who became the all time leading rusher. Emmitt didn't have what was considered elite speed in the open field, but he did have his fair share of 40 plus yard runs, and was a elite RB for over 7 seasons. Ingram has exceptional balance, and that good initial burst that Emmitt had as well. I feel Ingram does have a chance to be an elite back for the next number of years. Great offense in N.O., and he could approach 15 TD's his rookie year.
For everyone's info - I'm totally fine with differences of opinion and disagreeing with me. This was my first - and not close to my best - draft video. So I'm totally cool with the people who disagree. @alanduncan1 for example. I'm not even going to say he's wrong. But if you are a race baiting, name calling, bigot, you will get your ass blocked and banned. So for the cheap seats: disagreement = good, productive , helpful. Name calling = childish. TIA
It's obvious he slowed down to try and miss the guy that had great angle on him... That doesn't show lack of speed... Whatever floats your boat though guy... I KNOW Mark Ingram will be an ELITE RB in the NFL!
we know he doesnt have speed, What he has is down hill running and the ability to make people miss. That is not even mentioning ball security. That was his first fumble in what 5 years?!?! since high school if i recall correctly.
The only negative thing you mentioned was his lack of a burst of speed. He was slowed down by a safety who had a good angle on him (Zac Etheridge, #4 whom he also made miss...) in the clip you showed. That's the only reason he was caught.
Can you provide an example in which someone who isn't supposed to be as fast as Ingram (a linebacker as opposed to a safety) caught him from behind?
I'm not saying he's perfect, i'm just saying your reason and the video evidence weren't convincing.
lol dude stfu u are a dumbass he does not fumble much...missed 3 games and had maybe a heisman that did played alot, a bum ass knee, and coundn't make the cuts he could before at times.
@JerkFace62 YES. Great fit for him. Bush will be around (although he may have to take a pay cut) while the oft-injured Pierre Thomas is likely getting dumped. We'll still see some Ivory. But if Ingram's knee is healthy - and he cleared medical - it's a helluva fit!
@ThunderingBlurb bush wont take a pay cut he even said so plus he was a first round pick and thomas has only missed this past season I HIGHLY DOUGHT the saints will cut him he does to much for them and bush has been hurt way more and cant do half the things thomas does out of the two reggie is way more likely to be cut
I don't disagree and I think it was a bit of an overstatement on my part, though my point was merely to point out what he didn't do. And you're right his consistency (coupled with his incredible work ethic and football smarts) make him a very good prospect. If he drops too far, it's more that RBs are devalued in today's Drafts than an indicator of his talent. Thanks for watching and thanks for your thoughts!
@ThunderingBlurb your an idiot...Why would you say that Mark Ingram isn't an elite runningback? He rushed for 2400 yards in 2009. Wtf are you talking about dude? Mark I
I don't know that I agree a back has to have breakaway speed in order to be elite. I consider Frank Gore an elite back, especially consider his o-line, and he is a hair slower than Ingram. He may not rip off as many long runs as some, but makes up for it with consistency. Ideally you'd like that extra speed, but you have to deal with what players are there in a given draft. There is not a Chris Johnson or Adrian Peterson in every draft and every back has flaws, like ball security with Peterson.
Good back

Put some glasses on that guy at the start, and take off about 20lbs and there's no way that's not Ruxin.

@alanduncan1 I was talking about his speed. That's the difference. That's why he got caught, not because he stumbled.

He's compared to Emmit Smith and Ricky Williams, neither have or had exceptional speed. I think they alright.
