  • ok imma try this and if it works ill subscribe

question first, was yours oily when you were cleaning it because mine is oily and idk why

    btw im a michigander too

  • oooh cold water...whoops

  • the 2 dislikes were from people who work for filter companies

  • he dosent know what hes talking about

  • Is soap and water fine? Ive used that the past 2 or 3 times and there is no problems.

  • @HAWIIANTHUNDER1 Yes if the dirt gets off with them, some filter oils are so sticky that you need something else to remove dirt and old oil from filtar

  • thanks for this video dude, tried this today and it works great!!

  • one thing you dident mention is never ring out a filter ( twist dry) as it will tear the foam and wreck the filter over time always squeeze the water out without twisting it

i personaly use no toil filter cleaner and oil its super easy and fast

  • Thats a good tip. Thanks for lookin out for the cheap ass's

  • any substitute for mineral spirits???

  • restricted or unrestricted airflow wich is the best

  • Mineral Spirits:A low odour, versatile solvent derived from petroleum.

Wont this make the air filter degrade just like gasoline?

    Help me out!

  • Thank you, good work man! :D

  • Thank you so much!! its a lot cheaper! :D

  • What products should I get for all this

  • do you have to clean the mineral spirits off with water???

I need to know because i just skiped that step!!!

  • Great tip it i could not find a way to get all the dirt off my filter.

  • Nice video, thanks. Off to the store to get some mineral spirits!

  • i use gas all the time but i let it dry also and but grease on it

  • Cheap ass hill billy

  • i cant understand u, whats the stuff called?

  • @justinyoface911 Mineral Spirits.

  • I used petrol (gasoline) all the time to clean them followed by engine oil to stop dirt and dust and it worked for years the filter feels the same it did when I first started, except now I'm using No-Toil air filter cleaner and oil and after the first clean they shrunk? And became a little bit brittle, I gotta get a new filter and see if it does it from new

  • Hey, DBM. My RT 100 has been running funny since I left it in the rain a few days ago. Since then, I've put a brand new carb, drained and replaced gas and 2 cycle oil. Filter isn't wet, no water coming from tailpipe. Cleaned the plug. The problem is a sort of stutter/ popping, usually when taking off or accelerating.

  • using spirits im not so sure about, i tend to think it will do the same as petrol?

  • You shouldn't wring the filter like that, it can cause rips and tears

  • White Spirit (paint thinner) or petrol (gas) work 100% fine

  • @TeoZMuff313 petrol is bad, it makes the air filter brittle and it start to get little holes in it and it will eventually start to let dust through

  • @gshdrums i use it and its fine

  • @TeoZMuff313 i just use gas ive done it for about 3 years never changed the airfilter and its still stock youll have to change the airfilter soon any ways they eventualy tare. but gas is fine i just put it in cold water like he does to get the gas and dirt off works fine for me

  • petrol and an aircompressor works pretty good for me

  • what about simple green?

  • paint thiner works good

  • Havent you got to put some air filter oil onto the air filter once its clean so no dirt can get in ??

  • spray nine?

  • question. I didnt look up any prior knowledge before cleaning the airfilter on my cr250 i just got. I just soaked it in water and now it is soaking in water. did i damage it at? can i just let it try out?

  • @TWITCH772 if you only used water you probably wont get it too clean. you can just let it dry good and oil it lightly wiht air filter oil before putting it back on

  • two words - NO TOIL. use it once and you will never do it any other way!

  • @andrewg367 omg the no toil powder shit works so fucki n good, you filter is completely clean in 10 seconds

  • U can also use disel fuel or karosen. They are both less damaging to the filter than gas

  • cheers m8

  • Did you use skidmarked underwear?

  • you can use straight gas and water and it will be fine just squeez it

  • Nice!:) thanx.

  • Thanks! I really appreciate people taking their time to share their knowledge.

Now I'll try cleaning that filter myself..

  • is that a filter from a 86' DR200 HAHAHAHA fuck man...

  • Don't see why you cant just go to a bike shop, buy some airfilter cleaner in a can and do that in about 2 seconds.

  • What about oiling it?

  • Do you have to re-oil or can you just clean your air filter please send back

  • @101hayhay you always have to put foam filter oil back on the filter after you've cleaned it because the oil is what holds the dirt and grime so when you clean your filter, the purpose is to clean out the oil with the dirt in it. so a clean filter is always an oil free one after you clean it. (for dirt bikes) so ya, always oil your filter after you've cleaned it.

  • you shouldnt scrunch it that much, you could bust a seam

  • @mxrace709 you only bust the seams when you ring it out. you can scrunch it as hard as you want and it will be fine. unless you have a crappy filter.

  • Hey where can you pick it up at?

  • this acctully works like it wont wreak your bike

  • rednecks dont have any mondey

  • @W3B5TA yea them rednecks got no mondey...

  • does paint thinner work

  • never tried it.

  • @devan14close thats what hes using. Paint Thinner Mineral spirits. Its a certain kind of paint thinner.

  • @devan14close yes paint thinner does work. i use it all the time.

  • @devan14close no, its worth then gasoline. It degrades the filter.

  • can you use gas to clean it ?

  • @myamericanpie

    Not a good idea.

  • @DIRTBIKEMICHIGAN1 good beacuse ive been useing human sperm for over 25 years

  • that's hot

  • @DIRTBIKEMICHIGAN1 actually all the pros i know use gas to clean it, so yeah whatever

  • @mxrace709 That is true that alot of pros use gas to clean their filters.. Heck even I have before but its best not to because it expands your filter's pores. The pros have enough free parts not to worry about thinks like that though :p

  • @DIRTBIKEMICHIGAN1 why?

a lot of my friends use gasoline.....

    hmm??

    so whasup with that?

  • @myamericanpie what i use sometimes is gas but i dilute it with water so it doesn't wear away the glue. it's like a last resort if you don't have any other solutions to clean with.

  • @myamericanpie

    don't use gas

    use pj1 clean kit

  • @myamericanpie Yeah, you can use gas.

  • @myamericanpie no it will swell up and the pores will open

  • Comment removed

  • great vid, great tips & nice hat. ktm all day!!

p.s. dont reuse the underwear, well mabe for the mineral spirits.

  • been using Bel-Ray for a while. it takes a small amount to do the job. bottle goes a long way.

do you grease the connection between filter and box? that helps keep those run away particles from gettin in.

  • Don't you need to put air filter oil onto the filter?

  • @quirty1 Yes. Let it dry out then re-oil.

  • kool.. I jst bot a new one... im really stupid
