It's not so much that PJ has an incredible voice going by technical standards (but god know's do I love it!). She doesn't really sing...she becomes music. She has something that transcends a vocalist. Nick has a fantastic voice too. Very evocative, not to mention disctinctive.
I don't want to know about that. I don't know why, in the past, Polly has befriended these misanthropes like Nick Cave and Vincent Gallo. Perhaps they're drawn to her? I don't know. Maybe she calms the savage beast in them? Maybe it's good/therapeutic for them, but not so good for her?
Oh boy, have you idolized her... I've been a fan of both Nick Cave and P.J.Harvey for more than 15 years now and even though I admire their talent, I could never adore them like you do. In fact, I can't even imagine loathing an artist the way you seem to loathe Nick Cave - who no matter what your personal opinion is, is an extremely talented artist. As for Polly's professionalism, I've seen her live twice and she didn't perform more than 45 minutes each time; not so professional of her, eh?
@nihnah66 Nah, she's straight. She has talked about her break-up with Nick in interviews, saying something in the lines of "one moment it was all wonderful and the other it was all over". Some of the songs on Is This Desire? and The Boatman's Call are clearly about their relationship and each other (The Garden, West Country Girl). I believe she also had relationships with Vincent Gallo and Josh Homme. In the White Chalk documentary, her childhood friend Sid asks her if she likes men to...
...which she says "yes". But unfortunately, the superficial music journalists tend to take her lyrics to the letter even though she has argued they are not autobiographical, and have portrayed her as a "man-hating, axe wielding cow from hell".
@nihnah66 She used to go out with Vincent Gallo. You don't know sweet fa about her do you, so why don't you shut the f up and take your crappy comments with you!

Nick Cave irritates me so much, it's obvious he's just phoning it in performance-wise, while Polly carries herself and his sorry ass with her consummate professionalism.

I'm almost embarrassed for Polly having to share the stage with this mumbling, dizzy, drunken misanthrope.

Apart from the stage she also shared his bed, you know.
