I had no idea what the fuck Palin was talking about. Every now and then she made a flash of sense before sinking back down into a pool of strange shit.
what the christian religious right don't realize is that their are other people in this country, with different beliefs then theirs. and just bc they think their way is the right way doesnt make it the AMERICAN way!...what they don't realize is that by placing their christian beliefs into our laws they are in a sence creating a oppressive government... A THEOCRACY!...but i know, the southern baptist types cant think much further from their own front yards.
Technically, everyone wants to make words mean other things. Christianity, the only way to be truely happy and the only way to survive the afterlife, is not a religion. Christ's Church, The Body of Christ, or Christ's Bride, are the people. A Church building is God's House. If you want to separate Church and State, you might as well close all public schools. "We don't need no thought control." You atiest, revolutionist, why is it so important to believe your ancestors were monkeys. OXygen, heat!
Palin is right about one thing, Thomas Jefferson wanted to protect peoples right to worship. The only way to do that is to separate the government from religion. When government becomes too chummy with religion people are oppressed, and often they die at the hands of that government. Palin wants to take this country back to 1775. Jeezus Christ on a pogo stick what a fucking disaster she is.
the commandment to not disrespect your parents are actually punishable by death in the bible, so if your parents are neglectful, violent and pedophiles you still can't curse at them or you can be killed for it.WTH?
Yes the Founders de-clawed and de-fanged Organized Religion so that it could not be that other hand of tyranny around the people's throats, pockets and liberties.
Furthermore, it would be just as offensive to label our country a 'Christian Nation' as it would be to call it a 'White Nation'.
Murder, stealing, adultery, and other things were made illegal the very first thing for a reason. Our laws derive from the Bible. The same thing people are trying to take out is where we get our basic laws from. Why do you think little stores in the old days were closed on Sundays? Keep the sabbath day holy. Our most basic laws come straight from the 10 commandments.
@majinish Oh really? I must have missed the laws where our government won't allow us to grow two different crops side by side. Or how football on Sundays is illegal, since we cannot touch a dead pig's skin on the sabbath.
I also forgot about the federal laws which command killing homosexuals, stoning disobedient children, and forcing rape victims to marry their attackers.
Oh wait. Maybe I don't remember those laws because the Bible has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with our federal laws.
There are also laws against killing, stealing, and adultery in cultures not even remotely based on Christianity. Many other cultures (ex. China) had mandatory days of rest as well. None of this is inherently or uniquely Christian. These are pretty much rules that are necessary for most civilizations to survive.
@majinish The Ten Commandments say nothing about adultery, and half of them essentially say "don't worship any god other than the christian one". As well as saying that you can't have graven images (ala drawings of Muhammad) of God or Jesus. And one simply has to do with jealousy.
Really, the only ones truly applicable are "Thou shalt not kill", "thou shalt not bare false witness", and "thou shalt not steal", a very weak basis for a legal system, don't you agree?
@majinish It's true. It doesn't cover rape, fraud, slavery, civil rights, etc. It only says don't kill, steal, or lie. And to be honest, all of those concepts in civilizations predate the Bible by centuries. Ever heard of the Code of Hammurabi? Predates the Bible by almost 2000 years, and the Torah by almost 500 years. It has many of the same rules and punishments, and is in many ways much more specific, with a total of 282 laws. The Ten Commandments are too vague and limited to be a legal base.
The separation of church and state is the only thing that keeps the churches exempt from paying taxes. If such institutions want to take public domain, then they better pay their public contributions. Religious bodies own over 20% of ALL of the land in the United States. The average person pays up to $1000.00 a year to make up for the churches tax Negligence. I'd rather pay for a multibillionare's coffee enema.
@OOPS4U2CNOW I'm guessing from your comment that you are Native American, like myself, in which case, they have taken most of the land. That is in the past and I can't do anything about that. The most I can do is vote for the canidate that will work for the good of EVERY American, not just christians. That is my best response for your cryptic reply.
Read any of American founding documents. The phrase "Separation of Church & State" At all. This is an outright liberal lie.The first Amendment means that the US cannot declare Islam, Christianity, etc. the official religion of the land & force everyone to join.It does not prohibit using tax payer dollars for religious institutions or restrict public displays of religion."Our Rights are endowed by our Creator". The Ten Commandments sit outside the Supreme Court.
@BlackRepublican2010 Thomas Jefferson first coined the phrase in 1802 in a letter to The Danbury Baptist. You are correct in that is a meaning of the first amendment however churches are tax excempt and since they pay no taxes they are in no way entitled to any public funding.
The Pope is the anti Christ, he changed the Sabbath day from Saturday to Sunday, he claimed God gave him this right. Daniel said the anti Christ would think to change Gods times and laws. The pope burned and tortured millions of Christians, Daniel said the anti Christ would kill Gods saints and overpower them. The pope came out of the divided Roman empire and called himself God and the vicar of Christ. Daniel said the anti Christ would exault himself as high as JESUS the anointed one.
What about freedom of speech? It's the same old story, accept something from the government and they "own you." Maybe churches should pay taxes and become free to say what they want.
How to believe the Myth of Separation: 1. Mis-Interpret a letter by Jefferson 2. Blatantly mis-interpret the 1st Amendment 3. Disregard Congressional record & Court records<1900 4. Read nothing written<1900 5. Believe all teachers&media 6. Ignore numerous mixing of church/state by Founders 7. Get all info 2nd hand, rather than the source 8. Mis-Interpret the Treaty of Tripoli&a small selection of founder's quotes 9. Use revised history books=God/faith have been omitted. 10. Ignore reason
I don't like many American politicians, but I do like Joe Biden. I thought his answer was concise and effective. Sarah Palin, meanwhile, exercised her usual 'ability' to not answer the question asked to her- does this woman EVER answer a question?
Check out a few of my videos with Americans bitching about the separation of church and state and/or not realising it exists. :)
I'm completely in favor of the separation of Church and State. My idea is that these two institutions screw us up enough on their own, so both of them together is certain death.
@randyscorner In reality, revisionists like Steven Morris (and especially those from the Society of Separationists or the American Atheist Society) deliberately reverse Adams's position. Not only did Adams declare that it would be “fanatical” to desire a world without religion (and that such a world would be “hell”), but on May 5, 1817, Jefferson wrote back to Adams and said that he agreed!
SIGNER OF THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE; JUDGE; DIPLOMAT; ONE OF TWO SIGNERS OF THE BILL OF RIGHTS; SECOND PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES
The general principles on which the fathers achieved independence were the general principles of Christianity. I will avow that I then believed, and now believe, that those general principles of Christianity are as eternal and immutable as the existence and attributes of God.
@OOPS4U2CNOW The Declaration is a degree to seperate from english rule not a bill of rights like the first 10 amendments. Adams was not even in the country when the constitution was written.
@rokee1979 Though Adams and Jefferson were away on foreign mission both contributed indirectly Jefferson by shipping to Madison and Wythe from Paris sets of Polybius and other ancient publicists who discoursed on the theory of mixed government.
Adams contribution was authoring “A Defense of the Constitutions of Government of the United States of America” which was carefully read by some of the delegates and often quoted during the convention debates
@rokee1979 to take away the Declaration from the Constitution would be like taking the first three chapters of the each book of the A Tail of Two Cities out of the book, sure you may be able to get the jest of the story but a lot of confusion would then ensue you need those chapters just as you need the Declaration to understand the Constitution
I read the title of this video as some vice president going nom nom nom and eating the church. i was mildly disappointed to find that it was merely short for nominees and that the church would remain intact
@eastariel Actually, separation of church and state only goes one way. It was designed to keep state out of religious matters, not the other way around. The only restrictions placed on religion is that none can become a state religion.
@Eilor2112 I think church and state should be separate; church and state on either side, God in the middle. That way, neither can claim ownership of God.
The Roman Empire is a prime example of how not to elect religion into politics. Religious power addicts can be kind of controlling and judgmental and downright barbaric ... if the Roman Empire is any indication of how ugly this can be.
@eastariel Yes, I think that would be a good idea. History has shown how destructive religious power can be, so in order to preserve a proper amount of power, put the concept of God just out of reach.
''yes,i think i will see JESUS come bck to earth in my life time'' sarah palins own words when asked if she believed in the rapturist theology of end of days...
Religion is needed, but how dare anybody claim that their religion is better. Christian nation? Which branch? Catholic? Lutheran? Swedenborgian? Mormom? Baptist? Who? I am Jewish, and I want to know.
@schupy81 Well, we can't say Islam, their commands according to their Allah is to kill off infidels. We can't say Catholic, the priest puts himself in the place of God. We can''t say Mormonism, their God was not always God, but was a man who became God. We can't say Calvanists, according to them, God's salvation was not for the entire world. We can't say hate groups, they hate. However, we can say Christianity. It teaches Christ and his salvation and love for all.
@songwriter4artists It also teaches about how babies are born sinful, and that unless they worship a God that they cannot yet acknowledge, they will burn for eternity.
Christianity is one of the sickest, most demented religions out there, and no amount of lying will hide that fact.
There's a lot we have yet to understand as a species but the surveillance camera in the sky is the least probable. God is just one abstract concept we came up with thousands of years ago to try & explain what we don't understand. It's ironic how people need to believe in god to explain the universe just suddenly existing, but at the same time they believe god could just come about. Why not just skip the imaginary middle man & see that it makes no difference believing god could just POP & exist.
@shazzbot007 "Nazi church and state" Stalin atheism and state. Kim Jong il atheism and state. Fidel Castro atheism and state. Mao atheism and state. So, who's calling the kettle black?
Sarah Palin the twit quoting one of the wises men in US history HA HA. Hey you stupid broad- T.J. also said "If we did a good act merely from love of God and a belief that it is pleasing to Him, whence arises the morality of the Atheist? ...Their virtue, then, must have had some other foundation than the love of God. " Dumb broad.
Seperation of Jesus Christ and state is offensive and ridiculous. The world and everything in it belongs to Jehova. Jesus is in the Father and the Father in him. Hope everyone enjoys the air they breath, the water they drink, the food they eat, etc. Dont bite the hand that feeds you.
Assignats were paper money issued by the National Assembly in France during the French Revolution. The assignats were issued after the confiscation of church properties in 1790 because the government was bankrupt. The government thought that the financial problems could be solved by printing certificates representing the value of church properties. These church lands became known as biens nationaux. Assignats were used to successfully retire a significant portion of the national debt .
Religion is the worst thing to ever happen to mankind. We are way beyond that ancient, mythology way of thinking now, but too many governments base their values on a particular religion & since power just leads to corruption, they use these outdated ways of living for control & that just holds us back as a species. All our institutions & religious based systems are crumbling because they're no longer relevant. These ideas were made before we knew where the sun went at night. We know better now.
religious institutions are crumbling because we're entering a new type of religion, one based on the worship of material objects and "careers'. what are you 12?
@djda99 "We know better now." Yeah, right. The notion that everything came from nothing for no reason via mechanisms that violate the laws of physics makes soooooooooo much more sense.
@LutheranChemist I never implied that everything came from nothing. I implied that fairy-tale views such as religion only hinder our ability to keep learning about our universe. People justify the universe coming about by saying "god did it". But yet they say god needs no explanation "cause he's magic." But people have forgotten god is an abstract idea we made up thousands of years ago. We may not be able to comprehend reality as a species yet, but saying "a magic man done it" is just giving up.
@LutheranChemist I think we'd all like to know. But if we just continue to praise out-dated ideas like a creator that somehow needs no creator, we're never gonna move forward and move closer to actually being able to find out the answer to that question. I think we should all accept the fact that we don't know the answer & observe the mistakes of our ancestors. If you look back you see more people have been murdered in the name of god than for any other reason & you see life's not a fairy-tale.
@djda99 As religion is beginning to disappear and society has begun to collapse under the weight of its own immorality, we have only become more motivated to kill each other which science and technology have unfortunately made very easy. But, some people with nothing productive to do weren't satisfied with how much people hate each other, so they took up suing other people over placement of religious symbols. I fail to see how this atheism crap is an improvement or beneficial in any way.
@LutheranChemist I'm not saying all destructive aspects of life come from religion. All the people behind all the corruption don't believe in religion. They promote religion because believers in society are less likely to question authority. Society collapsing has nothing to do with absence of religion. Society is designed to keep us ignorant & competitive so the owners can get away with becoming more powerful. They've done a good job because the top 1% now own more than the bottom 95% combined.
@LutheranChemist The people at the top making billions who are paying taxes aren't exactly scrambling for rent like the increasingly poor in this country.
@djda99 "scrambling for rent like the increasingly poor in this country." Yea, and its their own fault. Most poor people have nobody to blame for their situation but themselves. They are lazy, unproductive, uneducated misfits and the rest of us should not be burdened because of their stupidity. If we stopped paying their utility bills so they would all fucking freeze to death next winter they would stop producing kids that nobody can afford and we would be way better off.
@smokeymountain68 The value of money is controlled by how much is printed into circulation which the federal reserve does with no oversee by the government. They make money less valuable over time creating bankruptcies & people lose their jobs & need work. It's set up to where there has to be poor or everything would collapse. Business runs the world & business needs minimum wage workers at the bottom. It's not all poor people's choice. People continue to get fucked by selfish assholes like you.
@djda99 Poor are poor because they would rather collect welfare than get a job. If you are poor and want a better life, then get off your lazy ass and do something about it instead of feeling sorry for yourself and being upset that there are people in the world who have more money and success than you do and are superior to you in every way.
@djda99" ...and God knows that on the day that you eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, your eyes will be opened. And you will see as God sees..." and what you see, and everybody else sees is all the corruption and ungodliness of unbelief (atheism), which could have been avoided, and a lot of things could have been avoided if we chose to live Godly rather than follow your type of mindset.
@songwriter4artists lol you're lost and brainwashed. So god wants people to be of Muslim, Christian, Paganism, Catholicism, Islamic, Judaism and many many others... we are born agnostic, and the free people will keep it that way.
"they must find it difficult .... those who have taken authority as the truth, rather than truth as the authority"
@songwriter4artists My type of mindset is worse than a "godly" one? Excuse me, didn't "god" murder the entire human population, besides Noah's family, in the Noah's arc story? That's godly for ya, and If that kind of mind set is what you think is 'good', then Hitler must have been a saint in your eyes.
@djda99 BRAVO! a very common atheist tactic, refer to the O.T. of the bible to speak evil of the Almighty, especially by people who don't understand the bible's teachings whatsoever. All you atheist know how to do is look at a text and form an opinion without any relation to context. Have you ever thought about what would of happened if God allowed the Egyptians to keep His people in slavery? No you didn't, because you're so busy doing what a fundi atheist does, being the croonie you are. study.
@songwriter4artists Except that nowhere in the N.T. does it say that Jesus (Who is also God, and therefor his own son) repeals the acts of the O.t. He actually says that he has come to enforce them.
And by the way, the Bible also says that Christians should kill non-believers. As well as saying that slavery is okay and women are property. And don't even get me started on the genocides of Joshua.
@djda99 Wow!!! sounds like you have taken the post modernistic thinking to a new low. You don't have a problem with religion, you have a problem with God, and I'm sorry for you because someday you will have to give account for the words you put on this screen.
@djda99 Couldn't have said it better myself. Religion was probably a lie made up by someone so as to maintain SOME order in an otherwise fucked up world; but we tend to be better people now (at least those who reject that shit) and it is obsolete.
palin is a religious nut, unqualified to run anything god forbid a country. and by the way sara there should be no public place for bullshit religions.
@JESUStheATHEIST1 Jesus loves you, it's your personal decision to love him back or not. I know personal responsibility is not a high priority with many American's these days, the choice is yours and only yours.
@BlameRepublicans All Governments are for Profit. As someone whom does not believe in Government Bureaucracy, I have a RIGHT TO TAX those establishments that FORCE ME to do what they say.
Government is not supposed to generate a profit. The way the GOP runs it when they're in power does generate wealth for the already too rich, but they're an abomination on Democracy. When run correctly governments provide tangible benefits like infrastructure, law enforcement, etc Taxation makes no sense. Churches on the other hand are massive profit generating business endeavors that provide nothing as evidenced by the con-men in the mega-church douche bags begging for cash on the TV
@BlameRepublicans "Human DNA - in its purest form - is Self-Governance"
Governments whom poison our water, food, and vaccines is not quite a 'Tangible Benefit' .. These bastard dynasties and incestious bloodlines do nothing other than keep our DNA in a damaged state.
Well when you elect corporate whore like the GOP they're going to pollute your water and send your kds to die in place of their own. So again - it's not government that's the problem. It's the right wing who serve the rich who are the problem.
This idea that "government" is bad came from the Reagan years. Rich people don't like taxes and they don't like fair representation of the little guy b/c it makes it more difficult to steal his rights. I love the Democrats, I love their agenda and saying both parties are the same is absurd. It shows you understand neither party.
And what you said about the parties not being the same your right, but where your wrong is that democrats arent always right, what shows me that YOU dont understand either party. leaning too far to the left or the right gets you to the same place. Your mistake is you probably only vote for democrats because your a democrat and you believe their right, well hate to burst your bubble, you vote for the person not the party.
what did george washington warn about political party? look he was right, america is getting divided because of people like you on BOTH sides pointing the finger at eachother.
I think you mean Lincoln - the house divided speech? Any rate the Democrats are the only *viable* party left. The GOP says they stand for 1,2,3, but they work ONLY for the rich.
no im talking about George Washington in his farewell address, he warned of political party causing division and leading to the downfall of a country.
neither party is still "viable" they have both made serious mistakes and its up to someone from both side to build a bridge between the two and fix the problems they BOTH made.
Well - ask Nader or H. Ross how much faith they have in a 3rd party. I lived in Canada for 10 years. Nationally they have 3 (4 if you count the Bloc) parties and it's a bit better b/c you can get 2 parties working together who normally wouldn't, but many Canadians say they need 4 or 5 parties....m'eh. Where the rubber hits the road the Dems are the only party I will support. If Obama murders half a million Iraqis and fucks the nation over like Bush then they will be the same.
Bush is just 1 republican, him along with alot of republicans fucked this country, but dont forget about the democrats who also voted for that war. I give it to Obama he was out there opposing the war from the begining but there was a republican who was too and that was Ron Paul. What im getting at again is u vote for the person not the party. Democrats are just as bad as republicans.
Like the nation the Democrats were lied to by the right wing. I refuse to allow anyone to saddle the Democrats with the failure of the right wing. When Liberals make mistakes inner city school kids get too many hot meals. When the GOP soes it billions are wasted and millions are killed. We can go round and round on this one.
I understand neither party because i blame both parties? Sorry you dont understand either, i blame them for the mistakes they made, but a mistake of some should cloud the actually goal of the party itself. Thats what you fail to realize, Republicans and Democrats actually want the best for the country.
give me some of the best legislation republicans have pushed for and the same with democrats.....then give me the worst along with the dems.....go for it
Heres an example - over 50 million Americans have no health care. Early in Ws first term the problem got so bad that many people resorted to maxing out credit cards to pay health care bills and then go file for bankruptcy. The GOP fix? They took our right to go bankrupt away. Is this the best legislation they could come up with? It is if you are a rich credit card corporation.
i asked for the best and worst legislation from both parties......but thanks for showing your bias. Or maybe its not bias you just dont want to accept the simple truth that republicans and democrats are both to blame and also both deserve praise on certain issues.
I will give you and example of wonderful republican legislation, they were the sole authors of nearly every civil rights legislation and amendment passed in the United States. Nope lets overlook that cus oh no! republicans are to blame for everything right?
Emancipation Proclamation rocked. The pre-Nixon GOP did shit I didn't agree with but their motives were not questionable in my opinion. Some what like taking two routes to the same destination. It's not like that anymore. Keep in mind the black fly blown corpses bobbing around New Orleans after the GOP cut dike maintenance funds to pay for Bush's filthy needless genocide in Iraq. The GOP love all races so long as they're all rich.
the civil rights act of 1964 was actually made by ike in i believe 1959 you realize this right? and that act would have never passed if it werent for republicans. I suggest you go look at the voting records of those in our party as well, some of the things you mentioned like the iraq war was voted for by both republicans and democrats.
First - the democratic support for Iraq was based on the WMD lie. That fiasco is 100% GOP. I realize these laws are not written and implemented in one or two Presidential administrations. Of course the GOP shares credit for these laws. If this happened more often I could tolerate them a lot better. In the US I am pretty far left. In Canada I was far more centrist because the Tories (Canadian Republicans) give the working class their due, something not happening in the US.
Except the Democrats aren't the ones who destroyed the economy with needless warfare and tax cuts for the rich. That's ALL the GOP. Remember - we "tax and spend Liberals" made the mistake of leaving you a $1.5 trillion surplus when Clinton left office. You turned that into $10 trillion debt in no time.
I am a liberal democrat i believe in democratic policies but i am not arrogant in this matter, you seem to not like the fact that a democrat can stick up for another american? i dont think you are a democrat.
So you are another non-committal Democrat like Alan Colmes? Thanks but taking the high road is no longer an option. I don't give a shit what your opinion of me is. Fuck the rules etiquette. Like Bill Maher said it was time for Obama to stop giving a shit about anyone but himself it worked for Bush. You can tend to your bruised feelings Ill continue to assault the right wingers at every opportunity.
no im a very committed democrat i would never switch parties, because i know the true meaning to be a democrat, but that isnt what were talking about. We are talking about whether the mistakes of some justifies blaming the entire republican party, and if that is how it is then of course it must be the same with the democrats. But no to you it is one sided, republicans are bad and democrats are angels, so perfect. Thats why noone will believe you nor listen to you.
So you want to discuss the nuances of international diplomacy between warring nations, which is a noble endeavor, however you fail to notice were in the midst of a fire fight and we need you on the fifty caliber. We have unprecedented control of the government, so now is not the time for pontification. Its time for massive reform. We need 100 lbs of real reform so we must grab 1,000 tons and let the corporations and brainless minions in the right wing take it back, if they can.
I agree as far as the listening goes. I do not delude myself into believing Ill win any hearts or minds. I do what I do for my own entertainment. If 8 years of Bush didnt wake up these slobs nothing will.
You cant push reform, if it is rushed through then it will end up being a mistake, i do not like Boehner hes is the biggest moron i have ever listened too, sometimes i think he is more brainwashed by stupidity than Bush was, but just because he does the dumb shit he does doesnt mean we cant extend a hand to other republicans and ask for help, we need unity in the country. This is a tough time and to shut out republicans would be disasterous. THEY ARENT SOLELY TO BLAME! democrat are too.
I will have fun trying my best to help AMERICA, to you this is about political party when it should be about america and the democratic party hasnt been perfect neither has the republican party, but in your mind the democrats have been, your argument is a joke, good day sir.
Do you know what you get when you lean too far to the left? I will give you a hint its the same as if you lean too far to the right. My point is, neither are perfect like your pretending, ones not better than the other, one opposed rights for african americans for nearly 150 years. Yet thats all justified to you somehow? Im sorry i can accept failures of my party and achievements of the other, since that is wrong to you. Your the type of liberal that gives all of us a bad name.
Ok, sorry to change the subject here. But i have been trying to find a way to contact a representative on the problem of the 9/11 attacks. Would you please watch this movie, i watched it and i must say, i have never shut out the possibility of an inside job but now after watching this i am pretty convinced it was and it is scary. I think this issue should be brought up.
911: In Plane Site is the movie, please look it up and watch it, thank you.
...the belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...
I think its hilarious that Palin uses Jefferson to support her views at 0:16. Did you know Jefferson also said this;
"Millions of innocent men, women and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burnt, tortured, fined and imprisoned; yet we have not advanced one inch towards uniformity."
lol separation of church and state benefits everyone including the religious lol to have freedom OF religion, it's essential to have freedom FROM religion.
It's "you're" not "your". As for prayer - the founding fathers said we can't pray in schools in the First Amendment. If religion is important to you I recommend you move to Afghanistan where there are plenty of like minded people there with whom you could live.
Actually im in fact not religious at all, i went to church as a child but im actually a deist. The founding fathers never said in the first amendment we cant pray in school, what constitution did you read? And by the way, im for excepting all beliefs regardless of my own personal belief, if someone wants to pray in school let them, if someone wishes not to pray let them walk out....its much the same as if someone wants to be gay, if they want to its their right let them.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof....is this what you speak of? because that prohibits the establishment of a national religion but also prohibits banning the free exercise of religion in public. And if u taxed a church fully then that would force them to lobby for a political party and increase the influence on government breaking what jefferson said as "a wall of seperation between church and state"
OK so if you christian prayer is in school you have to let the Church of Satan in too. I'll invent a new religion that must be honored too. My god tells me to drink wine and smoke crack. See? Nope - keep that garbage out like the FF wanted. Sorry.
yea if a kid wants to pray for something like that let him, your not getting me here, its not your right to tell someone they cant have prayer in school, the FF intent was that this type of thing could not be prohibited like....if you had what you want then you would be violating the first amendment.
OK I understand. I thought you were talking about organized out loud prayer crap. If it's silent individuals NOT pushing it on everyone else - I'm cool with that. The problem is Christians only pray to make a scene and push their insane beliefs on others.
well first, its not pushing it onto someone until they violate their right. By having a class prayer in school doesnt mean its forcing it on a student until that student request to step out and is denied that right. So no your wrong.
No. If you want a proper prayer session conducted by an individual speaking about one particular god you go find a church. There's no shortage of them. School is a place to learn facts, not religious indoctrination. I would not be opposed to high schools offering OPTIONAL religious studies programs just so long as one class covered all religions or each major religion had its own course.
BlameRepublican, I AM a liberal democrat, prayer in school is not a violation of the first amendment its not forcing a belief. It is an option, my school doesnt do prayer if it did i wouldnt pray because i dont believe that crap, i would respectfully ask to leave or just sit there and show respect for those who do wish to pray, i feel the same about the pledge.
WRONG. separating chruch and state allows us complete political freedom. The kind of thing where you dont stop stem cell research, ban abortions, start war on iraq just because some people have the irrational FAITH that it is the right thing.
if people dont have religious biases(and people can elect them if they want) there will be some sort of other bias. many nonreligious people are against abortion, and a smaller portion support the war in iraq

what the christian religious right don't realize is that their are other people in this country, with different beliefs then theirs. and just bc they think their way is the right way doesnt make it the AMERICAN way!...what they don't realize is that by placing their christian beliefs into our laws they are in a sence creating a oppressive government...

@BoothBrewski Might as well close all public schools? That will be looked into. Thanks for bringing it to the table.

Our most basic laws come straight from the 10 commandments.
majinish 1 year ago
@majinish Oh really? I must have missed the laws where our government won't allow us to grow two different crops side by side. Or how football on Sundays is illegal, since we cannot touch a dead pig's skin on the sabbath.
I also forgot about the federal laws which command killing homosexuals, stoning disobedient children, and forcing rape victims to marry their attackers.
Oh wait. Maybe I don't remember those laws because the Bible has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with our federal laws.
Prick.
myteethareshiny 1 year ago
@majinish
There are also laws against killing, stealing, and adultery in cultures not even remotely based on Christianity. Many other cultures (ex. China) had mandatory days of rest as well. None of this is inherently or uniquely Christian. These are pretty much rules that are necessary for most civilizations to survive.
bianchenglong 1 year ago
@majinish The Ten Commandments say nothing about adultery, and half of them essentially say "don't worship any god other than the christian one". As well as saying that you can't have graven images (ala drawings of Muhammad) of God or Jesus. And one simply has to do with jealousy.
Really, the only ones truly applicable are "Thou shalt not kill", "thou shalt not bare false witness", and "thou shalt not steal", a very weak basis for a legal system, don't you agree?
halo07guy2 1 year ago 2
@halo07guy2 Nope.
majinish 1 year ago

@eastariel Actually, separation of church and state only goes one way. It was designed to keep state out of religious matters, not the other way around. The only restrictions placed on religion is that none can become a state religion.
Eilor2112 1 year ago
@Eilor2112 I think church and state should be separate; church and state on either side, God in the middle. That way, neither can claim ownership of God.

LutheranChemist 1 year ago

If you look back you see more people have been murdered in the name of god than for any other reason & you see life's not a fairy-tale.
djda99 1 year ago 3
@djda99 As religion is beginning to disappear and society has begun to collapse under the weight of its own immorality, we have only become more motivated to kill each other which science and technology have unfortunately made very easy. But, some people with nothing productive to do weren't satisfied with how much people hate each other, so they took up suing other people over placement of religious symbols. I fail to see how this atheism crap is an improvement or beneficial in any way.
LutheranChemist 1 year ago
@LutheranChemist I'm not saying all destructive aspects of life come from religion. All the people behind all the corruption don't believe in religion. They promote religion because believers in society are less likely to question authority. Society collapsing has nothing to do with absence of religion. Society is designed to keep us ignorant & competitive so the owners can get away with becoming more powerful. They've done a good job because the top 1% now own more than the bottom 95% combined.

They took our right to go bankrupt away. Is this the best legislation they could come up with? It is if you are a rich credit card corporation.
BlameRepublicans 2 years ago
i asked for the best and worst legislation from both parties......but thanks for showing your bias. Or maybe its not bias you just dont want to accept the simple truth that republicans and democrats are both to blame and also both deserve praise on certain issues.
CVK92 2 years ago
I am biased towards the truth.
BlameRepublicans 2 years ago
I will give you and example of wonderful republican legislation, they were the sole authors of nearly every civil rights legislation and amendment passed in the United States. Nope lets overlook that cus oh no! republicans are to blame for everything right?
CVK92 2 years ago
Emancipation Proclamation rocked. The pre-Nixon GOP did shit I didn't agree with but their motives were not questionable in my opinion. Some what like taking two routes to the same destination. It's not like that anymore. Keep in mind the black fly blown corpses bobbing around New Orleans after the GOP cut dike maintenance funds to pay for Bush's filthy needless genocide in Iraq. The GOP love all races so long as they're all rich.
BlameRepublicans 2 years ago
the civil rights act of 1964 was actually made by ike in i believe 1959 you realize this right? and that act would have never passed if it werent for republicans. I suggest you go look at the voting records of those in our party as well, some of the things you mentioned like the iraq war was voted for by both republicans and democrats.
CVK92 2 years ago
First - the democratic support for Iraq was based on the WMD lie. That fiasco is 100% GOP. I realize these laws are not written and implemented in one or two Presidential administrations. Of course the GOP shares credit for these laws. If this happened more often I could tolerate them a lot better. In the US I am pretty far left. In Canada I was far more centrist because the Tories (Canadian Republicans) give the working class their due, something not happening in the US.
BlameRepublicans 2 years ago
again the GOP isnt solely to blame like your putting on.
CVK92 2 years ago
I don't use the imperfection of the Liberals to excuse the criminal behavior of the GOP.
BlameRepublicans 2 years ago
your right your not and neither am i, your using the imperfection of republicans to excuse the behavior of democrats.
CVK92 2 years ago
Except the Democrats aren't the ones who destroyed the economy with needless warfare and tax cuts for the rich. That's ALL the GOP. Remember - we "tax and spend Liberals" made the mistake of leaving you a $1.5 trillion surplus when Clinton left office. You turned that into $10 trillion debt in no time.
BlameRepublicans 2 years ago
your blaming me now? i could have sworn i said i was a democrat....hmmmmmmmm...
CVK92 2 years ago
You are a DINO at best
BlameRepublicans 2 years ago
I am a liberal democrat i believe in democratic policies but i am not arrogant in this matter, you seem to not like the fact that a democrat can stick up for another american? i dont think you are a democrat.
CVK92 2 years ago
So you are another non-committal Democrat like Alan Colmes? Thanks but taking the high road is no longer an option. I don't give a shit what your opinion of me is. Fuck the rules etiquette. Like Bill Maher said it was time for Obama to stop giving a shit about anyone but himself it worked for Bush. You can tend to your bruised feelings Ill continue to assault the right wingers at every opportunity.
BlameRepublicans 2 years ago
no im a very committed democrat i would never switch parties, because i know the true meaning to be a democrat, but that isnt what were talking about. We are talking about whether the mistakes of some justifies blaming the entire republican party, and if that is how it is then of course it must be the same with the democrats. But no to you it is one sided, republicans are bad and democrats are angels, so perfect. Thats why noone will believe you nor listen to you.
CVK92 2 years ago
So you want to discuss the nuances of international diplomacy between warring nations, which is a noble endeavor, however you fail to notice were in the midst of a fire fight and we need you on the fifty caliber. We have unprecedented control of the government, so now is not the time for pontification. Its time for massive reform. We need 100 lbs of real reform so we must grab 1,000 tons and let the corporations and brainless minions in the right wing take it back, if they can.
BlameRepublicans 2 years ago
I agree as far as the listening goes. I do not delude myself into believing Ill win any hearts or minds. I do what I do for my own entertainment. If 8 years of Bush didnt wake up these slobs nothing will.
BlameRepublicans 2 years ago
You cant push reform, if it is rushed through then it will end up being a mistake, i do not like Boehner hes is the biggest moron i have ever listened too, sometimes i think he is more brainwashed by stupidity than Bush was, but just because he does the dumb shit he does doesnt mean we cant extend a hand to other republicans and ask for help, we need unity in the country. This is a tough time and to shut out republicans would be disasterous. THEY ARENT SOLELY TO BLAME! democrat are too.
CVK92 2 years ago
Fine have fun helping the GOP.
BlameRepublicans 2 years ago
I will have fun trying my best to help AMERICA, to you this is about political party when it should be about america and the democratic party hasnt been perfect neither has the republican party, but in your mind the democrats have been, your argument is a joke, good day sir.
CVK92 2 years ago
Well wallowing in mediocrity rather than really supporting the left wing is unfortunate however its better than voting GOP.
BlameRepublicans 2 years ago
Do you know what you get when you lean too far to the left? I will give you a hint its the same as if you lean too far to the right. My point is, neither are perfect like your pretending, ones not better than the other, one opposed rights for african americans for nearly 150 years. Yet thats all justified to you somehow? Im sorry i can accept failures of my party and achievements of the other, since that is wrong to you. Your the type of liberal that gives all of us a bad name.
CVK92 2 years ago
Ok, sorry to change the subject here. But i have been trying to find a way to contact a representative on the problem of the 9/11 attacks. Would you please watch this movie, i watched it and i must say, i have never shut out the possibility of an inside job but now after watching this i am pretty convinced it was and it is scary. I think this issue should be brought up.
911: In Plane Site is the movie, please look it up and watch it, thank you.
I am curious to what your opinion is on it.

You are a Witch & Satanist.
Are you mentally ill from smoking bowls of Witch Craft?
Having a Satanist describe a White Ball, is like winding up the Engergizer Bunny and they never shut up. And mean nothing to a rational person.
Rational Person: I'm holding up three fingers.
Stoner: No, man! Hehehe! I see Five, Man!! Ahahahahahahaha

Christianity:
...the belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

I think its hilarious that Palin uses Jefferson to support her views at 0:16. Did you know Jefferson also said this;
"Millions of innocent men, women and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burnt, tortured, fined and imprisoned; yet we have not advanced one inch towards uniformity."
-Thomas Jefferson, Notes on Virginia, 1782

lol separation of church and state benefits everyone including the religious lol to have freedom OF religion, it's essential to have freedom FROM religion.
Palin you suck at answering simple questions.

I support all prayer in school, EXCEPT christian prayer. THat's trash, shit, worthless. Fuck Jesus.
BlameRepublicans 2 years ago
BlameRepublicans, your an idiot....why should christian prayer be banned from school but other prayers not? thats just stupid.....
CVK92 2 years ago
It's "you're" not "your". As for prayer - the founding fathers said we can't pray in schools in the First Amendment. If religion is important to you I recommend you move to Afghanistan where there are plenty of like minded people there with whom you could live.
BlameRepublicans 2 years ago
Actually im in fact not religious at all, i went to church as a child but im actually a deist. The founding fathers never said in the first amendment we cant pray in school, what constitution did you read? And by the way, im for excepting all beliefs regardless of my own personal belief, if someone wants to pray in school let them, if someone wishes not to pray let them walk out....its much the same as if someone wants to be gay, if they want to its their right let them.
CVK92 2 years ago
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof....is this what you speak of? because that prohibits the establishment of a national religion but also prohibits banning the free exercise of religion in public. And if u taxed a church fully then that would force them to lobby for a political party and increase the influence on government breaking what jefferson said as "a wall of seperation between church and state"
CVK92 2 years ago
OK so if you christian prayer is in school you have to let the Church of Satan in too. I'll invent a new religion that must be honored too. My god tells me to drink wine and smoke crack. See? Nope - keep that garbage out like the FF wanted. Sorry.
BlameRepublicans 2 years ago
yea if a kid wants to pray for something like that let him, your not getting me here, its not your right to tell someone they cant have prayer in school, the FF intent was that this type of thing could not be prohibited like....if you had what you want then you would be violating the first amendment.
CVK92 2 years ago
OK I understand. I thought you were talking about organized out loud prayer crap. If it's silent individuals NOT pushing it on everyone else - I'm cool with that. The problem is Christians only pray to make a scene and push their insane beliefs on others.
BlameRepublicans 2 years ago
well first, its not pushing it onto someone until they violate their right. By having a class prayer in school doesnt mean its forcing it on a student until that student request to step out and is denied that right. So no your wrong.
CVK92 2 years ago
BlameRepublicans 2 years ago
BlameRepublican, I AM a liberal democrat, prayer in school is not a violation of the first amendment its not forcing a belief. It is an option, my school doesnt do prayer if it did i wouldnt pray because i dont believe that crap, i would respectfully ask to leave or just sit there and show respect for those who do wish to pray, i feel the same about the pledge.

@BlameRepublicans POT HEADS throw BOMBS and KILL weak-minded people.
GoblinCobbler 2 years ago
biden had a great answer. separating chruch and state allows us complete religious freedom.
evb4mvp 2 years ago
WRONG. separating chruch and state allows us complete political freedom. The kind of thing where you dont stop stem cell research, ban abortions, start war on iraq just because some people have the irrational FAITH that it is the right thing.
livintzitu 2 years ago
it allows both
evb4mvp 2 years ago
if people dont have religious biases(and people can elect them if they want) there will be some sort of other bias. many nonreligious people are against abortion, and a smaller portion support the war in iraq
