Excellent Video! You really get a good idea of how beautiful Lucy truly was when you see pictures of the show in color. I always thought she was beautiful and now ever more so! Thanks for sharing!
By the way, I found the first DVD series at a yard sale, What a surprise! 'of course I bought them. Never gets old for me. It seems like everytime I watch the show, There's one I hadn't seem before.
i will only watch the shows where they do not have their husbands. the lucy show, hazel. alice, mamas family etc. lots of shows about women from the 60s-80s.
i like Lucy's face at 0:40. Lucille Ball was very beautiful & she is the most beautiful woman that's ever lived, in my opinion. She's so beautiful at 0:44. Desi Arnaz was very handsome. Vivian Vance was pretty. 0:54 1:041:141:441:542:092:142:27
I Love Lucy, especially in color. They'll never be another show like that ever again. Thank God we can still see her. I would love to have her complete collection in color including I Love Lucy. Does anyone know where to get the whole series of I Love Lucy in color? e-mail: isamegar@yahoo.com. Thanks!
where did you find the disco version of the Lucy theme song? I LOVE IT its so fun! I was dancing in my living room! HA HA! :) We all still love Lucy she was a great actress and will never be forgotten. :)
@maleficentdiva - It's called "Disco Lucy" and it was released as a record and was on the dance charts for a brief while in the late '70's and was played in the discos. I remember it when I was in high school.
@RampGuy1 You're correct, and that makes me feel very old, as I first watched "I Love Lucy" reruns in 1962, when still airing on CBS weekday mornings.
But it could be worse--I could remember watching the show when still airing first-run in prime time.
@RampGuy1 I also become sad (sometimes very much so) whenever any actors and actresses from favorite TV series' die (and there are fewer alive from these classic TV shows each passing year), just as if I have lost an old friend. Do you (or anyone else "out there" reading this) ever feel this way, when an actor from a favorite TV show "passes away?"
@RampGuy1 In a sense they are old friends, because we watch these shows from our homes, initially once a week with a currently-airing network show, then maybe several days a week in syndication. So there's a level of intimacy one doesn't get from the actors in theatrical films.
@RampGuy1 I was particularly saddened by the fairly recent death of David Nelson, the last alive of Ozzie & Harriet Nelson's immediate family, also of the core cast of "The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet.." I always associated Dave & Ricky Nelson with youth, athleticism and vigor, and now they're both gone.
@RampGuy1 Now, even the TV actors who were relatively young when I was a kid are senior citizens (or soon to be so), TV stars such as Carol Burnett, Mary Tyler Moore, and Dick Van Dyke. The creative dilemma is there aren't as many greats around to replace them.
@RampGuy1 So I am very grateful for the few exceptional talents my age or younger, such as Fran Drescher, Kelsey Gramer, Patricia Heaton, Ray Romano, Jerry Seinfeld, and even Ashton Kutcher and Neil Patrick Harris, the latter two younger actors who are cultivating and honing their acting and comedic skills, perhaps becoming TV's future legends.
Today is Saturday, August 6, 2011, which is the 100th anniversary of Lucille Désirée Ball's birthday. Let's dance!
Born on August 6, 1911 in Jamestown, New York (a city mentioned a couple times in the 1950s series of "I Love Lucy"), the beloved Lucille Ball was the queen of television comedy most recognized for her role as Lucy Ricardo. As we enjoy these episode clips of her most famed television program, lets all say, especially today on the 100th birthday anniversary....Happy birthday Lucy!
"I Love Lucy" will be celebrating its 60th anniversary on 10/15/11! Some channel should have an all day marathon of the best episodes! Or, perhaps, every episode! That would be awesome! :D
Sorry, perhaps I don't understand myself, but was so impressed by this video, that I was trying to find out if there would be a way to acquire a copy of your video for my own personal collection. miguelchi@aol.com
