I think the reason LD is a lot better at creating hilarious TV than he is at writing hilarious stand-up or spoken material is because he thinks of visual and conceptual ideas that are best expressed through character and scenario. I like 'Seinfeld' but 'Curb' is on another level.

Love the man, but you can see why he's a better writer than a stand-up. His timing is awkward and you can feel how uncomfortable he is. Its a long way from hilarious, unlike CYE and Seinfeld, which are undoubtedly the format perfected.
