@thewalas56 The Fender classic series 50s neck is a V shaped neck. Gilmours neck is C shaped - Colour is closish tho. There is also .025" difference at the nut too. Am i being picky? lol
The Fender American Vintage '57 Stratocaster Reissue would be a better option as it has the C shaped neck like Gilmours but its more pricey than the 50's (the '57 AVRI has a V shaped neck)
does anyone know where to get a black pickgaurd without the white outline?, because i have a black strat and i want to put a black pick guard on it, thanks.
Gilmour had active pickups on his strat for the original recording of comfortably numb. and that strat was modified electronically way beyond this relic model. This model reflects Daves current preferences and thinking. my 2 cents.
@randomtwit he didn't install active pickups until the delicate sound of thunder tour, and only due to pickup noise from all the electrical on their huge set. up until that point he had stock 72 fender pups and either a dimarzio or seymour duncan in the bridge, depending on what era.
I got the NOS when it was released, well by the time they got a few to the UK. Released 22 Sept, got mine sometime in Oct. It's worth every penny, simply a fantastic guitar.
for best money saving tips on getting a guitar similar to that would probably be is to buy a fender stratocaster USA standard series with the body coloured black and then change the pickguard to a black pickguard to make it a black-out stratocaster and also for optional, you can also change the pickups to vintage 60's or 70's pickups. would only cost 1 grand in total.
Actually, Now-a-days a Fender American Series Stratocaster new is about $1,200 by it's self...it would be liek an extra 200 bucks to make it similar to this one...but If you buy the strat used, then you're right
damn i would love this guitar, but im not willing to pay 4 grand for it. even the srv sig isnt the much, hell the john mayer sig isnt that much. great guita though
It's crazy to buy this guitar for so much money thinking that you will play like Mr Gilmour....his music comes out not only from his guitar but from his hands and mind.
If you want a Stratocaster with a Gilmour look buy an ordinary Stratocaster and change its pickguard and its pickups if you d0n't like their sound..you will save a lot of money
Having that guitar will not make anybody play like David, losts of practice and talent will. I have seen very talented guitar players with cheap guitars getting a fantasticotone, is all in the fingeres/soul . Even if I had that kind of mony I won´t spend it
Of course that song your using to pimp your product was played on the red strat.....

I thought Gilmour's black strat came with a Floyd Rose originally, so wouldn't the NOS come with a Floyd Rose?

it's not that expensive... take a look at Gibson, PRS, etc.
After all it is a custom shop signature guitar.

@bobklose I think we are all perfectly aware of that. Shouldn't stop people from seeking it though.
